If you follow me on social media than you probably already saw that I shared Disney’s The Jungle Book trailer. It was released today and has made me even more excited for this film (which I did not think possible!). Ever since seeing some footage at the D23 Expo (read about The Jungle Book and other Live Action Film announcements here) I have been dying for you guys to see some of it. The trailer that was just released is incredible and I think it goes to show just how amazing this movie is going to be. I cannot wait to take my young daughters! We all just watched the trailer together (over and over and over) and they keep asking when they will be able to see it. It is going to be a must see movie for any family – I promise! I dare you to watch the trailer below and tell me that you aren’t even the least bit excited about it, I know you will be!
I am a little embarrassed to say that last week was the first time I saw the new Cinderella live action movie. I had planned on seeing it in the theater and life got in the way as it sometimes does. So I was thrilled to be able to receive the Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital Copy a little bit early. My youngest had started “school” two days a week and my oldest (4 years old) had not started yet. I decided that we would spend some mommy-daughter time together and would sit down to watch Cinderella. She is iffy when it comes to “real people” movies. Sometimes she will sit through them but most of the time, she will not. With Cinderella, she did not take her eyes off the screen – she loved every second of it. And when it ended, she asked if we could watch it again. I think this movie was done extremely well and I thoroughly enjoyed it. We have already watched it a few times – and I am not ashamed to admit I continue to shed tears. We have already watched it several times – and checked out all of the special features included on it. One of our favorites is the alternate opening which you can see below – and of course Frozen Fever!
My daughters and I cannot wait to see The Good Dinosaur in theaters in November. I got to see some sneak peak footage at the D23 Expo last month and it is going to be incredible. In true Disney fashion, it will bring the feels and is a tear jerker. I have been dying for some good (no pun intended) coloring sheets for my girls. I have already introduced them to Arlo and Spot and they keep asking for Good Dino things. I have tried to draw them some coloring pages and they have turned out – less than stellar. They were thrilled to see I had some much better ones for them today. Download them below for your little ones to color! There is also a fun memory card game and hexaflexagon project you can print as well.
As most of you know, I am a huge Star Wars fan! I mean, my husband and I went to Star Wars Weekend for our honeymoon and had a blast! We love the series and are counting down the days for Episode VIII! Unless you live under a rock, you should know that this week marked Force Friday. On this amazing day a wave of Star Wars toys were released. And they were announced to the public in probably the coolest way I have ever seen – in unboxing videos on YouTube that were live streaming! Hot off the heels of this 18+ hour global live unboxing event on YouTube where highlights of the new product range were officially unveiled, the celebration continued as more than 3,000 retail locations in the U.S. opened their doors at midnight for fans to be among the first to discover new Star Wars products. Check out my favorite one – filmed in Mexico City, the Star Wars First Order Stormtrooper Deluxe NERF Blaster from Hasbro – it looks incredible!
Disclosure: Mama Smith was provided with an all expenses paid trip to cover this event.…
So we have already discussed a few times how ridiculously excited I am for STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS. I am pretty sure that anyone is even part geek is excited about it. I have been waiting for Episode VII for so long and finally it is within my sites. Yes, we still have a few months but I feel like it is so close that I can taste it finally. This time of year always flies by for me with back to school and a handful of Holidays. And as if knowing the movie was so close wasn’t enough, Star Wars fans have now been invited to join in on a pretty epic global event on YouTube. Star Wars: The Force Awakens products are set to be unveiled in the world’s first-ever global live toy unboxing event. Unfolding over 18 hours in 15 cities and 12 countries, the event will see highlights from the range of epic merchandise revealed in a rolling New Year’s Eve style celebration featuring top digital stars from the Maker Studios network.
Today, Instagram announced that – in addition to square posts – you can now share photos and videos in both portrait and landscape orientation on their platform. With this update, Instagram users can upload widescreen video which will be more cinematic than ever. And immediately following that @StarWars released an exclusive look at their upcoming film, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, using Instagram’s new landscape orientation. As part of this collaboration, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the very first video content to be showcased in this new format for the Instagram community. And it is incredible. So, I was already ridiculously excited for December because of this movie – now I cannot even contain myself. I am dying!
Walt Disney Records’ newly created line of collectible CDs, Walt Disney Records The Legacy Collection, celebrates the anniversaries of Disney’s most cherished and classic properties that have been enchanting audiences for generations. Through 2015, Walt Disney Records will celebrate 12 anniversaries including “Pinocchio” (75th), “Fantasia” (75th), “Cinderella” (65th), “Lady and the Tramp” (60th), “Sleeping Beauty” (55th), “Mary Poppins” (50th), “The Lion King” (20th) and “Toy Story” (20th), among others. Boy oh boy, do those numbers make me feel old. I remember growing up with these classics. I still cannot believe Toy Story was 20 years ago – I am showing my age with that one as I saw it in theaters at age 11!
I am such a Disney, Marvel, and LucasFilms geek – which I am sure most of you know by now. So attending the Worlds, Galaxies, and Universes: Live Action at The Walt Disney Studios panel was like a dream come true. I was dying to hear about upcoming films like Captain America: Civil War, The Jungle Book, and of course, Star Wars: The Force Awakens. I walked in holding my breath and hoping for some visit looks at scenes, trailers, and maybe even some celebrity guests. I could not have even imagined the amount of awesomeness I was about to witness. There were a lot of laughs, and a lot of tears. Just being in the same room as some of these celebrities was a complete honor. I cannot wait to tell you all about what I found out!
I am a huge fan of Disney’s Short films. One of my favorite parts about seeing a Disney movie in the theater is knowing that I will most likely get to check out a fun short before the film. They always amaze me because they are only around 8 minutes long (hence the name shorts) but they tell a complete story. Disney knows how to bring the feels! These shorts know how to make me laugh, and boy oh boy do they know how to make me cry. When I learned that Disney Animation Studios was releasing a collection of these shorts on BluRay/DVD I was super excited! My girls and I love watching them and having them at our fingertips to watch whenever we please is awesome. The DVD arrived about a week and a half ago and we have already watched it through at least 10 times. This collections consists of Frozen Fever, Feast, Get A Horse!, Paperman, Tangled Ever After, The Ballad of Nessie, Prep & Landing: Operation Secret Santa, Tick Tock Tale, How To Hook Up Your Home Theater, The Little Matchgirl, Lorenzo, & John Henry. While at the D23 Expo this past weekend I was lucky enough to sit down with some of the creators of these incredible shorts.
