Synopsis
Trick or Treaters follows an orphan named Tiffany, traveling by carriage to a dreary castle high in the mountains, where her wicked aunt runs a home for orphans. On the way to the castle, Tiffany ends up in the hands of three robbers – and considers herself lucky as can be! With a childish lie, she makes them believe that she’s a princess from India worth millions of jewels. Inspired by the little girl’s idea, they agree to take her, but just as the three had feared, she turns their lives upside down and teaches them a lesson about selflessness, kindness and love in this charming tale.

Yesterday my family and I decided to check out the Paw Patrol Roll Patrol Road Tour at theGreat New York State Fair. When we got there, the line looked really long – like, REALLY long – but we got in line anyways since this was the thing my girls wanted to check out at the fair. We went last weekend because we knew most of the day would be spent on Paw Patrol this time. We ended up waiting about 3.5 hours in line to enter Adventure Bay. Was this all worth it? Find out below.
While in line, we saw lots of people going in and out of line – taking turns with the kids so that they could get more out of their time at the fair. While I do understand this, it is just not in our nature. If we want to experience something, we are all going to wait in line for it, it only seems fair. We do this while at Disney World too (save for my husband stepping out of line for about 3 minutes to grab a bottle of water or to take one of the girls to the bathroom) as we know long lines are just part of the deal. I heard numerous people complain, but honestly, the line didn’t bother us. Our girls were fantastic. They didn’t really complain at all. Every now and then they said they were hungry but we let them know we would get lunch after we went through the Paw Patrol stuff.
On the way in, one family member registers the whole family and you all get wristbands – these are amazing because they allow you to now come in and out of the exit. Yup, no more waiting in that long line. These are especially useful because the Paw Patrol pups that you can meet and get a photo with switch out about every half an hour. If you can get your planning right, you can continue to come back and get photos with all four: Chase, Marshall, Rubble, and Skye. There is a smaller line inside Adventure Bay where you wait for the photos. This line was about an hour long each time we were in it and we did take turns waiting in it. There was enough going on inside Adventure Bay that the girls could check it all out and play while my husband or I waited in the photo line. We tried really hard to get a photo with Skye (my daughters’ favorite pup) but we kept missing her. The staff was really nice and said that we could wait to the side for her if we would like to – but it would have been about 40+ minutes. Sometimes their were two pups and sometimes there was just one. It depended on when the pups were taking breaks and lunches and it was hard to figure out the system. However, the staff was always willing to go check on who would be coming out next for you.
We ended up getting two photos. One with Chase, and one with Chase and Rubble. My girls were thrilled (although I was a little bummed we missed Skye) but they did not seem to really care. They saw her up there while we were in line and thought that was cool – I guess it was enough for them knowing that she was there. I loved that they printed out your photo for you right there on the spot – and asked you what phone number you wanted it texted to! My girls were carrying their photos around the whole fair, they were so excited to have them.
Inside Adventure Bay, besides take photos with the pups, kids could play with Paw Patrol toys, drive Paw Patrol cars, and even check out the Paw Patrol Lookout! My girls had a blast driving the cars around and playing with the new Paw Patrol molds in Kinetic Sand. Inside the Paw Patrol Lookout they could play video games, watch clips from episodes, look out periscopes, meet the new pup Tracker (a cut out), walk on a jungle log, and then exit via slide! They had a total blast and I loved watching them run around excited!
So was it worth it? For adults – no way. But for the kids – 1,000 times yes! My daughters loved everything about it. Seeing the smiles on their faces and them hanging up their photos with the pups in their room made it worth it to me as a parent. I do suggest maybe seeing what you can at the fair before you head over to the Paw Patrol Toad Tour. Go after lunch and your wait will be much shorter. Utilize that bracelet as well and head back in through the exit at least once to see if you can catch a photo with a different pup.
There is so much more to do at The Great New York State Fair – check out my list of kid friendly things and my guide to the food for more tips and tricks when going!

Disclosure: I was provided with this experience from Disney Cruise Lines. All opinions expressed are 100% my own.
Planning a Disney Cruise can feel overwhelming at first – I get that. My husband and I had been researching for a few months when I was given the opportunity to take my daughters on a 3 day cruise thanks to Disney Cruise Lines. This was a total blessing – and I used it to help decide what exactly we wanted out of our 7 day cruise (we ended up booking a trip on the Disney Fantasy which includes the Star Wars Day at Sea – score!). I have put together some tips that will hopefully help make your Disney Cruise planning go quickly – and even included a packing list.
Disney Dream staterooms were designed with style, comfort and a dash of Disney magic. Immaculately appointed staterooms feature a contemporary, Art Deco-inspired design in a welcoming environment. More than 70 percent of the Disney Dream’s 1,250 staterooms have a private verandah. (Matt Stroshane, photographer)
Which Stateroom Is Best For You
I stayed in the Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah – and I will never stay in a different room type again. This is a category 5A and when we went ahead and booked our next Disney Cruise (TIP: Do this on board to save a little money) we made sure to get the exact same room we stayed in. This room was not only gorgeous, but it was extremely spacious. I had been on a cruise before and was dreading trying to fit in a room with my two young daughters, my mother, and our luggage but WOW! I was certainly impressed with how much room there was. My girls loved this room as well – they were thrilled that they got to sleep in bunk beds! Speaking of the bunk beds, I loved how they were handled. The top bunk pulls down from the ceiling and the bottom one is behind the couch. And the best part – our stateroom host switched the bed back and forth for us! Every morning when we left for breakfast, he would turn the bed back into a couch and when we were at dinner, he would convert it back into the bunk bed. I highly recommend getting one of these rooms, especially if your travel party is 3 or 4 people – oh, and if you have a larger family, you can get connecting rooms. This is something we are thinking about doing when we go with my in-laws (yes, we are already thinking about a third cruise, and our second one is still months away!).
The room that we stayed in was on deck 10. For us, this was the perfect deck level. The pools and some of the restaurants were only one deck up, making it easy to walk up to with the kids. We also went with the Aft of the ship because the Oceaneers Club is on Deck 5 Aft. I recommend the starboard side as well, since you will have a better view from your room while at Castaway Cay (Disney’s private island). We did not notice any noise from the pool deck (I had read that if you are on Deck 10 you might be able to hear the chairs being moved around – but that was not the case for us). We were also very close to the elevators, which I actually liked – especially since my girls are so young – 3 and 5. We were not bothered by elevator noise at all and enjoyed the quick walk to them with the kids. I couldn’t feel the ship moving at all either – no matter where I was on board. I imagine this is because the ship is so big. My friend brought sea bands with her and did not even need to put them on once!
Our view of Castaway Cay from our Verandah
The Verandah was amazing to have at night and in the morning. I sat out there with my mom just talking about our day each night we were on the ship. And I enjoyed my coffee on the Verandah every morning. My daughters and I enjoyed sitting on it as we pulled in to the ports as well. They thought it was really cool to watch. Something that the kids (and OK me too) is that the TVs in the rooms have on demand Disney movies and TV Shows – so there is no need to bring items like tablets or gaming devices. We watched A Goof Movie, A Bug’s Life, Frozen, and many Jake and the Neverland Pirates episodes. I love that these are at our fingertips every night. It is a great way to get the kids settled down after a fun (but long) day.
The inside rooms are great for those that are nervous about getting sea sick (although there really is nothing to worry about) or those that have no desire for oceanviews. I love that these rooms have a “porthole” with a screen that shows the ocean – and of course your favorite friends from Finding Nemo might just swim by to say hi!
Catering to the unique vacation needs of families, Disney Dream staterooms offer comfort and style. A cruise industry-first for all inside staterooms, Magical Portholes offer a “window” to the world with a real-time view outside the ship. Entertaining, animated characters – such as Peach the starfish from the Disney-Pixar film “Finding Nemo” – may pop by the Magical Porthole. (Matt Stroshane, photographer)
Door Decorations
Walking around the ship, I noticed lots of door decorations. My family is already planning our Disney themed door decorations for our next cruise (Star Wars of course!). I highly recommend creating some of these for your family. My girls really wished that we had done it this trip – and I did too. The most popular decorations seemed to be Mickey Mouse heads themed with different characters and/or colors that had the names of the guests staying in that particular stateroom. I also noticed lots of photos from previous Disney Cruises or Disney Parks trips. We will most likely do a combination of both. You can have decals made or create your own decorations with construction paper and tape (or let your imagination run wild!).
If you are celebrating a special occasion on board, not only can you order door decorations but you can order gifts to be left in the room as well. When we walked in to our room, there was a cheese and cracker plate and a bottle of champagne – and it made my eyes light up. I definitely recommend having something waiting for your kids when you open up that door – it will have them even more excited about their Disney Cruise!
Fish Extender
Another thing that I wish we had done for our first Disney Cruise (and we will definitely be doing on our next one) is the Disney fish extender. What is it exactly? Well, next to each stateroom door is a fish or a seahorse (depending on what side of the ship you are on – port or starboard). The fish extender is, simply put, a bag or some sort of gift holder. You can find the link to your cruise on the DIS boards here – and you will be part of a group that will make or buy little gifts to leave in the fish extender bags of others that have signed up. I imagine it is so much fun for kids to go check their holders when they get back to their rooms and see what pixie dust has been left for them. I cannot wait to do this, and will most likely have a post with fish extender gift ideas as we start creating ours.
Packing List
Bathing Suit (TIP: Bring at least two with you – one for salt water beaches in port and one for the pools.)
Over Bathing Suit Cover-up
Sunglasses
Sweatshirt (TIP: It can get chilly on the deck or your verandah at night while at sea so it is nice to have a sweatshirt on hand if needed.)
Camera
Cellphone (TIP: Be sure to download the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App before you get on the boat.)
Autograph Book & Pens
Small Boat Bag or Backpack to use while on board and off the ship
Passport and/or Birth Certificate
Flip Flops
Your Disney Rewards Visa Card (TIP: Use your card when booking and get a “gift” such as a $50 drink credit on board the ship – and then use your vouchers to book your next Disney Vacation!)
Cash (Optional) I say this is optional because you will not need it on board the ship or at Castaway Cay. It will, however, come in handy if you want to do some shopping in the ports.
Theme Night Outfit (the Disney Dream Cruise we went on had a Pirate Night)
Sunscreen
Motion Sickness Medicine and/or Sea Bands
Formal Outfit (if you intend to eat at one of the adult only restaurants or opt to dress up the final night.)
Nice Outfits for dinner – somewhere between casual and formal. (TIP: I liked to wear a sundress to dinner, and I noticed that many other women did too.)
Two outfits per day per child (TIP: Accidents happen. Food, paint, & other things can end up on kid’s clothes – there are washers & dryers on board as well if needed.)
No need to bring:
Towels
Blankets
Tablets
Portable Game Devices (TIP: The kid will simply not have time to play them. Opt for the free Disney on Demand instead.)

We love going to the Great New York State Fair every year. It is something that our family looks forward to all year long. We usually go at least one or two days – and have so much fun! This year, the fairgrounds had been improved and WOW – the place looks great! I just love the main gates now – gorgeous! If you follow me on Snapchat or Instagram, I am sure you saw my stories as I was there this past weekend. Planning a trip to the fair for the first time can be overwhelming. Even if you have been, you can easily miss some great stuff because there is so much to see and do. No matter what you check out, you are sure to have a blast, but here are my 3 things that I don’t think anyone should skip. They are fun for the whole family and things that we come back to year after year.
Birds of Prey
The Birds of Prey show is pretty cool – but what is even cooler is that you (or your child!) can hold a falcon! Yes, they can hold it and you can take pictures of it – and it is amazing. My daughters LOVED doing this. There is a small fee attached ($10 per person) but you can take 5 or 6 photos and the money goes to a good cause. This year was our first time doing this, and I can assure you that we will continue to do this every year we come back to the fair.
The Milk Bar
There was a little bit of a controversy this year over The Milk Bar, but everything worked out (I guess) and a cup of cold fresh milk is still only 25 cents each at the fair. This is a stop that we always make about half way through the day. The milk is refreshing after walking around in the heat. You can choose chocolate or white milk (fingers crossed they add strawberry at some point) and it is so good! The Milk Bar changed it’s name this year (from the Rainbow Milk Bar) and I love the new look.
Butterfly Tent
If you and your kids love butterflies, this is place to go! This is a tent filled with butterflies! The cost is only $2 per person and you get a Q-tip to dip in nectar. You can feed the butterflies and they will even land on you! My husband and I each had them land on our faces and heads. My 3 year old had one on her head as well. The kids love this and you can spend as long as you want in the tent. This is something we check out at least once (sometimes twice!) in a trip. Some of the butterflies are exotic so they check you over a few times to make sure you don’t have any hitchhikers before you leave.
There is so much more to do at The Great New York State Fair – check out my list of kid friendly things and my guide to the food for more tips and tricks when going!

I have had a cellphone since I was about 14 years old – but I had never heard of unlocked smartphones before. I think there are a lot of people out there who have not heard of this before, so I am excited to let you know about it. With a locked cellphone, that means there is no way to switch cellphone companies while you have that phone – even though you pay for it! I know that I had to pay for my smartphone and because I am did so with a certain company, I would need to purchase a new one in order to switch companies.
An unlocked smartphone is a phone that isn’t tied to a specific carrier or contract. Therefore, you have the freedom to shop for the latest phones and plans as often — or as infrequently — as you like. And when it comes to international travel, unlocked phones can’t be beat. Best Buy has found that once someone buys an unlocked phone, they love it. If they aren’t into unlocked phones yet, they either don’t know about the unlocked category or they’re enrolled in a contract plan with an iPhone or android smartphone that they can’t easily get out of. This is a sponsored post by Nature’s Harvest® Bread and Entenmann’s®. All opinions expressed are 100% my own.
Let’s face it, moms are busy. Especially when back to school time hits. My 5 year old will be starting Kindergarten in just a couple of weeks and I know that my nights and mornings are going to be filled with making sure homework is done, packing up her backpack, finding the perfect show and tell items, and packing lunches. On top of all of this, I still need to find time to spend with my 3 year old, my husband, the dog, and still get work done around the house (not to mention keeping up with my website)! Thank God for Nature’s Harvest® Bread and Entenmann’s® Little Bites™ Snacks because I know that no matter what, her lunch will be fun, healthy, and easy to make with them.
Why do I love Nature’s Harvest so much? That is easy! There are at least 8 grams or more of whole grains in every serving – and no artificial flavors, colors or high-fructose corn syrup. Not to mention all the different varieties that are available – my family LOVES Honey Wheat and Whole Gran White. I enjoy making fun sandwiches for my daughters (check out my tips here) and they love to help me. My oldest has started making her lunch with every day to prepare for helping me make it in the mornings once she starts school. This will be a big help on saving time once the school routine hits!
Little Bites Snacks are the perfect addition to school lunches if you ask me. They are a wholesome, fun snack perfectly packaged for the lunchbox and made with real ingredients and never any High fructose corn syrup or Trans Fat. They make my morning routine easier because I just have to throw a bag of 4 mini muffins into the lunchbox and move along to the next thing. I love that they are a pre-portioned, good choice snack for the whole family (yup, I grab them when I am on the go all the time). Little Bites Snacks are made with real ingredients, and are always moist and fresh. Our pantry is always stocked with several varieties of Little Bites Snacks – usually the blueberry and chocolate chip.
Together at back-to-school, Nature’s Harvest Bread and Little Bites Snacks are the Life of the Lunchbox! Surprise and delight your child with both nutrition, taste and fun! Be sure to check out the Life of the Lunchbox $10,000 Savings Bond sweepstakes! Simply head to www.lifeofthelunchbox.com/ and enter to win a $10,000 Savings Bond for your little one! How great would this be when they are off to college, or even graduating college? Don’t get me started on thinking about that or I will cry like a baby. I know I will be entering and I hope many of you do too – good luck!
