As most of you know, I have two young children – ages 3 and 5. This year, my oldest will be off to school full time, while my youngest will be starting half days at a local center to get her ready for Preschool. I have been stressing already about this decision. It is going to be strange without any kids in the house for a few hours in the morning – and one that will not be home until after 3pm! On top of my emotional breakdown, I am also dealing with the stress of things that I have to get done to ready for back to school time. The list of things to do to prepare can be totally overwhelming – but I still want to find time for fun with my family.

life of the lunchbox

Last year my oldest daughter was in Preschool, but that was only for a couple of hours a day – and I didn’t have to worry about packing a lunch. This year I start having to do that, and I want to make the right choices for her – the healthy choices. I want her lunch to be fun and exciting for her, but I also want to pack it with nutritious, wholesome snacks and not junk. That is why I am so glad that I found Nature’s Harvest® Bread! You can count on at least 8 grams or more of whole grains in every serving – and no artificial flavors, colors or high-fructose corn syrup. Whether your family has a taste for Made with Whole Grain White or Honey Wheat – or any other variety – you can be sure it’s made with whole grains because it says Nature’s Harvest. I am your ally in eating right. With whole grains and the best ingredients, I help you to live well. Taste & variety to keep healthy exciting and appeal to the pickiest of eaters. I plan to make a lot of sandwiches using Nature’s Harvest Bread because it is something my daughter loves (and I do too!).

My youngest daughter loves owls and my oldest loves hearts. So I found some cookie cutters and made some fun shaped sandwiches! They were both thrilled with how they came out, and ate them right up! So if you have a picky eater, trying creating fun shapes with your Natures Harvest Bread using cookie cutters – you will be surprised at how fast they eat it!

The other lunchbox must have for our family is Entenmann’s® Little Bites™  Snacks! Both of my daughters love these (in fact, my 3 year old will be taking them for her snack to Preschool) and I have been known to munch on them every now and then as well. They are delicious – almost too good. I can hardly believe just how healthy they are. My girls (and I) love them because they taste great! My 5 year old says they are her “her size” muffins – and I agree, they are the right size for little hands. Little Bites Snacks are the perfect lunch time snack for kids to take to school. Moms can feel good about giving her kids Little Bites Snacks, a wholesome, fun snack perfectly packaged for the lunchbox and made with real ingredients and never any High fructose corn syrup or Trans Fat. They make life easier because they are a time-saving solution – just throw a bag of 4 mini muffins into the lunchbox and move along. They are a pre-portioned, good choice snack for the whole family. Little Bites Snacks are made with real ingredients, and are always moist and fresh. The pouch is great for when my family is on-the-go or the kids are off to school. Our pantry is always stocked with several varieties of Little Bites Snacks – usually the blueberry and chocolate chip.

I agree with the cookie cutters, it makes lunch fun for the kids. I do this with all 3 of my children. My oldest started high school this year so I always wonder what his friends think about it.

I love adding little “bonuses” to lunches to keep it fun. My favorite is a note. I plan to do this as long as my kids will “allow” it … meaning FOREVER. ;)
