The Cat in the Hat Space

My girls love The Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About That – it is one of their favorite educational shows. My husband and I love it too because they really do learn from it. I am blown away at times with what they tell us after watching a couple episodes. We all love space so we were super excited to get The Cat in the Hat Knows A Lot About Space! We popped it in right away and we all enjoyed watching it (I even learned a thing or two). This series is great for young kids and parents alike.

The robot lands and does some exploring of his own, gulping up rock samples and photographing the Cat, Nick, Sally, and Fish before blasting off back into space! What was that thing? Where did it come from? Where is it going? The Cat in the Hat fires up his Space-ama-racer and whisks Nick, Sally and Fish off on a cosmic adventure in search of the robot. Their journey takes them straight to the Space Station where Astronaut Audrey introduces the gang to Space Rover her dog-like robot who s helping her explore the solar system. But no sooner is Rover refueled, recharged and relaunched into space when all of a sudden a beeping from the mission control room alerts them to a problem. Turns out, Rover has become tangled in some kind of space junk! The Cat in the Hat comes to the rescue, launching Operation Rover Repair. Now The Cat, Nick, Sally and Fish are off on a cosmic mission of their own to find Rover! Together, they survive a dust storm on the surface of Mars, rocket through an asteroid belt, and then narrowly escape being sucked into Jupiter by its huge gravitational pull! Ultimately, they hitch a ride on a comet that leads them all safely back to the Space Station, along with plenty of space samples, and stories and even a small souvenir that follows The Cat in the Hat and our crew back to Earth!

4 Reasons You Need Google Chromecast Audio

Music is really important in my family. We all connect to it in one way or another and constantly have it playing throughout the house. Of course, we have issues with our bluetooth speakers cutting in and out, and trying to get it to play in multiple rooms – but not anymore thanks to Google Chromecast Audio! Now we can play music, seamlessly, throughout the house. We can play it from our phones, tablets, or computers – meaning no more drained cellphone batteries! We love Google Chromecast Audio, and we think you will too! Here are 4 reasons why you need it in your life!

Google Chromecast

Listen to your favorite tunes on your speaker

By using your phone, it’s easy to play, pause, or change the volume from anywhere in your home. Not only that, while streaming, you can still text or call without interrupting what’s playing or draining your battery! This is a huge plus for me because I am on my phone for work constantly – and I enjoy listening to music throughout the day. Being able to connect to a speaker to listen to my music helps save my phone’s battery life, and allows better quality music.

Google Chromecast

Crystal clear sound, powered by the cloud

My favorite thing about Google Chromecast Audio is that it can stream over Wi-Fi, not Bluetooth. This has been a life (and battery) saver for us. Having our phones constantly connected to Bluetooth drains our battery energy faster than I could have ever imagined. Half the time we need to have our phones plugged in while they are connected to speakers, which kind of defeats the purpose. Being able to use Wi-Fi makes the music quality clearer and not spotty as well.

Google Chromecast

Enjoy hundreds of your favorite audio apps

Stream millions of songs, radio stations, and podcasts through apps like Pandora, Spotify, YouTube Music, and Google Play Music. This is great because my family likes a variety of music. During dinner, we play kid’s channels low in the background now. This has been a lot of fun for my daughters – and my husband and I! Find compatible apps here.

Google Chromecast

Play music everywhere with Multi-room

Now you can easily fill every room in your home with synchronous music by simply grouping Chromecast Audio devices together. Now you can listen to the same song on multiple speakers. I cannot tell you how much I love this feature! I move around the house a lot – especially on cleaning days – so this has been great! I can now keep listening to my favorite songs with ease as I move room to room.

Fuller House

Feeling nostalgic for one of television’s best-loved family comedies? The Tanner clan is back and they’re bringing laughter and good times to all Full House fans with the release of Fuller House: The Complete First Season, available on DVD on February 28, 2017, from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment (WBHE). Twenty years have passed and the Tanner sisters are all grown-up. They’ve returned to their San Francisco home, where they’re joined by family and friends as they raise the next generation of Tanner kids. Fuller House: The Complete First Season is comprised of all 13 episodes from the show’s first season – individual episodes from Fuller House: The Complete First Season are also available to own on Digital HD via purchase from digital retailers.

I grew up watching Full House. It was one of my favorite shows when I was a young girl so this brought back so many memories! It was like spending time with old family and friends – I got warm fuzzy feelings watching it. I loved seeing the guest appearances from more original cast members (John Stamos – hello!). It really holds up and I was not disappointed at all. I am really looking forward to watching Season 2. If you were a fan of the original show – or just want a fun family show to watch – Fuller House is for you!

About Fuller House

On Fuller House, eldest daughter D.J. Tanner (Candace Cameron Bure, Full House, A Christmas Detour) is now a veterinarian and recently widowed mother trying to raise three boys on her own. She is joined by her sister Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin, Full House, Walt Before Mickey) and best friend Kimmy Gibbler (Andrea Barber, Full House, The Skateboard Kid 2) and Kimmy’s teenage daughter Ramona (Soni Bringas), who move in to lend their support and help raise D.J.’s kids. The Full House original cast, including Bob Saget (Full House, Entourage), Lori Loughlin (Full House, When Calls the Heart), John Stamos (Full House, Grandfathered, Scream Queens) and Dave Coulier (Full House, Robot Chicken), make guest appearances throughout the series.

American Horror Story Seasons RANKED Best to Worst

This post contains affiliate links.

AHS

I just recently watched all 6 seasons of American Horror Story. I have been told many times it was something I needed to do – and I was always interested in watching them, I just never got around to it. Well, I decided it was finally time and binged watched them all the way through. I decided to rank them in order of my favorite – however, I highly recommend watching them in order.

Even though they are totally different stories, they do link together and give other seasons nods here and there. Many of the actors appear in more than one season (in fact, most of the main cast are in all of the seasons) but they play totally different characters. I find this really interesting and it is part of the reason I just love this show. It proves that these actors are incredibly talented because they can play different roles with such ease.

AHS 1

Season 1: Murder House

Let me start this off by saying that I love Dylan McDermott. That probably has a lot of influence on my love for this season. I also really enjoyed the story line (no spoilers in this post, I promise). This season had it’s hooks in me and I finished it in just a couple of days. In fact, I might just go back and rewatch this season before season 7 comes out because I loved it that much. The acting was great, and I fell in love with Evan Peters who plays “Tate” because of it. He is fantastic and definitely one of my favorite cast members, along with Jessica Lange.

AHS 2

Season 2: Asylum

This season was spooky and kept me guessing throughout most of it. I really enjoyed the different story lines – and the Adam Levine cameos were great. He isn’t in it much, but he is awesome when he is. I especially enjoyed that this season has been tied to multiple other seasons, and I think that is what influenced my decision so much. Some parts got a little weird, but that is what American Horror Story does – it gets weird!

AHS 5

Season 5: Hotel

I liked this season a lot more than I thought I would. I honestly have never been a fan of Lady GaGa and I thought for sure that was going to influence how I felt about this season. But the twists and turns were spot on – and I actually enjoyed her acting. In fact, I kind of like her now, as much as I hate to admit that. Evan Peters had another stellar performance in this season, and I just loved Dennis O’Hare. They are both great in other seasons, but they both really stood out in this one for me.

Season 8: Apocalypse

I really enjoyed how they added Coven in to this season.

AHS 4

Season 4: Freak Show

Another fantastic season. I do wish it has more twists and surprises in it, but it kept me entertained. This season took me a few more days than the others to finish because I was slow getting in to it. In the end though, I really enjoyed it – although I hated the ending. I just wanted something more. But the ending didn’t ruin the whole season for me – still a must watch! Sarah Paulson is superb in all of her seasons, but her portrayal of Dot and Bette Tattler, the two headed siamese twins, really stood out to me. I am super excited because Ryan Murphy told EW in 2016 that Season 7 will explore the characters of Freak Show more. I am hoping this will give me the ending and clarity I was hoping for!

AHS 3

Season 3: Coven

I really wanted to like this season more. I had heard so many good things about it, but it seemed boring to me at times and was slow moving here and there. It took me a while to get through the first few episodes because it did not really interest me. About halfway through the season though it really picked up and I started to enjoy it more. The ending for this one kind of fell flat for me again, which seems to be a constant with this series. I am almost always left wanting more, which I guess is a good thing.

Season 7: Cult

Honestly, I still haven’t finished this season. It fell flat for me almost right away. I got through about half of it, and totally lost interest.

AHS 6

Season 6: Roanoke

This is actually the first season that I watched. I liked it so much that I decided to go back and watch all the past seasons. I find it funny that this ended up being my least favorite season out of them all. I still do like this season, so that goes to show how great the show really is, it just happens to be my least favorite. I liked how this season started out, but about halfway through, it changed. It was still good, don’t get me wrong, but that transition is what ranks this as my least favorite season.

American Horror Story has been picked up for two more seasons and I cannot wait to see what they come up with! A few of the actors have already signed on, so you know they will be good!

DIY Disney Cruise Door Decorations + My Favorites I Found on Etsy

I took my daughters on a Disney Cruise last August. We loved it so much that we immediately booked (while still on board) another Disney Cruise. We leave next week and I am so excited about it! One thing we did not do for our last cruise but decided we could not miss out on it this time is door decorations. My 5 year old loved walking around the ship and pointing out the different door decorations that we found. She enjoyed reading all of the names on them and looking at pictures that were put up. There are tons of options on Etsy and Amazon, but my girls love being crafty (even though their mama really isn’t). So we went ahead and decided to make our door decorations this time.

Disney Cruise Door Decorations

Making your own door decorations for a Disney Cruise is pretty simple, especially if you are crafty! All you need is some construction paper, scissors, markers or crayons, and glue. Be sure to bring tape with you when you cruise so you can easily stick them to your door. If you are better with crafts, you can always grab sheets of magnets and work with those. If you have a Cricut than you are good to go!

Disney Cruise Door Decorations

My girls are 4 and 5 and wanted to make the door decorations for the whole family – and who am I to stop them! They turned out pretty cute if you ask me – hey, it’s the thought and effort that counts, right? They are so excited to show these off on our cruise!

Disney Cruise Door Decorations

You can pick up a white board or cork board to stick to your door too! People will leave you notes or draw fun pictures. We plan to bring a magnetic white board along with us!

HAN SOLO – SMUGGLER. SCOUNDREL. HERO.
A NEW STAR WARS STORY BEGINS

If you know anything about me, you know I am a HUGE Star Wars fan. I am also a huge Han Solo fan (I mean, how can you not be). When the Han Solos solo film (see what I did there) was announced, I was thrilled. I can not wait to delve deeper into one of my favorite characters in the Star Wars universe! I just found out that principal photography has begun on this film and it is becoming more real to me now! The actors involved are amazing – Donald Glover anyone? I LOVE him! He is going to be the perfect Lando! I am thrilled that I only have to wait until May 2018 to see this movie – I am so used to Star Wars movies coming out in December. Buckle up guys – this is going to be an amazing ride!

About the Movie

The adventure-filled past of the iconic scoundrel and everyone’s favorite Wookiee is going before cameras this month when principal photography on the untitled Han Solo Star Wars Story officially began February 20th at Pinewood Studios, London. The movie will explore the duo’s adventures before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope, including their early encounters with that other card-playing rogue from a galaxy far, far away, Lando Calrissian. Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are directors co-piloting the movie, with a cast that includes Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, Thandie Newton, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge, with Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca.

“Watching such inspired people from all over the world, with such unique voices, come together for the sole purpose of making art, is nothing short of miraculous,” Lord and Miller said. “We can’t think of anything funny to say, because we just feel really moved, and really lucky.”

Written by Lawrence and Jon Kasdan, it will be produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Allison Shearmur, Simon Emanuel and co-produced by Kiri Hart, Susan Towner and Will Allegra. Lawrence Kasdan and Jason McGatlin will executive produce. Crewing the ship will be some of the industry’s top talent, including Academy Award nominee for his work on “Arrival,” Bradford Young (Director of Photography), Chris Dickens (Editor), Dominic Tuohy (SFX Supervisor), Rob Bredow (VFX Supervisor) and Brad Allan (Action Designer). They will be joining returning Star Wars veteran crew members Neal Scanlan (Creature & Droid FX Creative Supervisor), Neil Lamont (Production Designer), Dave Crossman and Glyn Dillon (Co-Costume Designers), Jamie Wilkinson (Prop Master), Lisa Tomblin (Hair), Amanda Knight (Make-Up) and Nina Gold (UK Casting Director).

The untitled Han Solo Star Wars Story is slated for release on May 25, 2018.

An Exclusive Interview with Jill Schulz & Melissa Menta about the Snoopy

This post contains affiliate links.

Jill Schulz 3

I am so excited to have been chosen as a Peanuts Brand Ambassador for a second year in a row. I grew up with Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and friends – and my young daughters are too. I have many fond memories of watching the movies with my family when I was a little girl, and I love being able to instill that love for Snoopy & friends in my girls now. Recently the Snoopy & Belle in Fashion tour kicked off in LA and as part of this ambassadorship, we were lucky enough to be able to chat with non other than Jill Schulz, the daughter of Peanuts creator Charles Schulz and Melissa Menta, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications for Peanuts Worldwide LLC, and the producer of the Snoopy and Belle In Fashion Exhibit.

Melissa, can you tell us about the exhibits and how they came to be?

Melissa: Sure! We’re really proud of this exhibit. It’s a reimagination of an exhibit that first premiered in 1984. A woman who was in charge of spearheading Peanuts merchandise in Japan went to Charles Schulz, or Sparky as he was called, and asked if she could do this exhibit. He said “yes” and she pulled off this amazing feat of getting all the major designers in the world to design outfits for Snoopy and his sister Belle. The original exhibit was called “Snoopy in Fashion.” They were plush dolls dressed by famous designers like Chanel, Betsey Johnson and everyone you could possibly imagine. Those dolls have been travelling the world ever since. In 2014 we decided to reimagine the exhibit and got all new designers plus some from the original exhibit. Since then, we’ve been showing the exhibit around the world, and adding new designers. There were 25 designers in 2014, but the current exhibit on display at the Beverly Center in Los Angeles has close to 50 sets of dolls representing almost 50 designers. The new dolls in LA come from designers like Rachel Zoe and Academy Award winner Colleen Atwood. I’m actually standing at the exhibit right now and it’s absolutely beautiful, so I hope whoever is local can come see it.

How did you pick the designers?

Melissa: Some of the designers like Betsey Johnson and Diane Von Furstenberg were part of the original exhibit. Other designers we knew had an affinity for Peanuts. We went about it in a really fun way by inviting the designers to participate via an interactive iPad.

What’s the overall goal of the exhibit?

Melissa: What’s interesting about Peanuts is that it speaks to people in different ways. Whether you go to an amusement park or see the Peanuts movie, but it’s also a fashion brand. If you talk to people in Europe, they see Peanuts as a fashion brand so this is a new way of showing Peanuts to be fashion forward and allowing people to enjoy the characters.

Jill, What would Sparky think of this?

Jill: I know he would love it. My Dad never liked to travel. He always said, “I’ll go anywhere as long as I can be home by noon.” So it was a great feat when he traveled to Paris to see the original exhibit at the Louvre in 1984. It was a testament to his interest and respect to what these designers were doing with their talents in relationship to his characters. There were many other times when he was going to be traveling overseas and would change his mind within 24 hours of leaving and not go. But the 1984 trip was one he looked forward to. He always had a great respect for all people, their art, and entertainment.

Jill Schulz 2

Would he consider himself fashion forward, or fashionable?

Jill: *laughs* My Dad? No, not at all actually. He was a slacks and sweater guy. He wasn’t one to have a celebrity lifestyle. He wasn’t even a fancy restaurant person. That doesn’t mean he wasn’t interested in fashion. He produced an ice show at the local ice arena for 30 or more years, and always supported the costume designer and took a great interested in making the show look good.

He wasn’t into the fashion himself, but if he did go to a special event or awards show he always dressed well. He would come out in his suit, stand extra tall and say, “What do you think Jill? How does this look?” He was probably a closet fashion guy, and loved dressing up when he had the chance, but there wasn’t much need for it in his day to day lifestyle.

Melissa, you’ve said that a lot of the designers have infused themselves into their designs. Can you elaborate on that a bit?

Melissa: Yeah, several of the dolls actually look like the designers themselves. J. Mendel came to the exhibit in 2014 and we took a photo of him next to his Snoopy doll. It’s kind of amazing that the same doll can be given such a unique look and personality as to match the designer. Betsey Johnson’s doll oozes her personality. The designers Costello Tagliapietra are a team of two men and look exactly like their dolls. It’s been a lot of fun to see how much fun the designers are having. They get so excited to see the finished product, especially alongside the other designs.

snoopy 2

What is the process when the designer signs on?

Melissa: They’re allowed to do whatever they’d like. The only rule is that they can’t use real animal fur. They then sketch something and design the looks from there.

There’s an interesting story behind Colleen Atwood’s design, could you share that?

Melissa: Colleen is an Academy Award winning costume designer who did Alice in Wonderland. Her doll looks exactly like Johnny Depp’s Mad Hatter from that film. The cloth used on Snoopy is from Depp’s original costume. For Belle, Colleen created a dress reminiscent of Memoirs of a Geisha.

Jill, do you have a favorite?

Jill: There are so many great ones and I like them all for different reasons. Out of the memories of the 80s, living in LA and wearing Betsey Johnson all the time, I gravitate towards her designs more. So I would say Betsey Johnson just out of loyalty, but they’re all so great. It’s hard to have a particular favorite.

Melissa: Jill makes a really good point about Betsey. She was part of the exhibit in 1984 and 2014, and when Twentieth Century Fox was preparing for the premiere of the Peanuts film, they asked me who would be good to create a look for Lucy that they could animate for the red carpet. Like Jill, I said “Betsey Johnson.” It was a no-brainer. She’s a special friend to Peanuts.

Jill Schulz 4

In Sebastopol, there are large, hand painted statues of Peanuts characters, do you see a similar type of work being done to complement the fashion exhibit?

Jill: I’m sure it could be possible, but right now all those statues are sponsored by people who bought them at auctions. I’m not sure if people would let them go given the expense of moving such large pieces. I don’t know if there’s anything in the works right now unless Melissa knows something I don’t.

Melissa: Anything is possible. Jill’s right, though, statues like that are very expensive to make and ship so something like that would have to be a reimagining of the original pieces.

Jill: It would be possible if someone came along to spearhead it, but it would probably have to be an original work rather than using the original statues.

What happens to the dolls after the exhibit is over?

Melissa: The 1984 dolls are housed in Japan and Italy. The 2014 dolls don’t have a home yet because they’re traveling so much. After the US tour, we’ll be taking the exhibit abroad again. All the 2014 designers have their own set of dolls as well.

Disney Cruise Fish Extender Guide (+ DIY Tutorial!)

3

DIY Fish Extender

While on board the Disney Dream last August, I learned all about Fish Extender groups. What exactly is a fish extender? Well, outside your room on the ship is a message holder – in most cases it’s shaped like a fish (but can be a starfish or sea horse). This is there for Disney to place important communications to you, such as excursion tickets and notes from the Cruise staff. It is basically a mailbox for your room.

A Fish Extender (FE) it is something that you hang off the fish, much like a pocketed organizer. By hanging the Fish Extender off of the fish the Cast Members can still use it for its original purpose.

Once a cruise meet thread is up and running, someone in the group will offer to maintain the Fish Extender list. That person is the center point for all those who want to participate in the exchange. The list can be as simple as room number/number of guests/ages of kids or as involved as full names/room number/ages of guests/like & dislikes/allergies/favorite characters/etc.

Each person on the list will then bring a gift that they purchased or made for the other people on the list. There were only 10 staterooms on the list for my cruise, so it is not normally an overwhelming task to participate in. Plus, my kids LOVED getting (and giving!) gifts around the ship!

DIY Fish Extender

Even if you are not crafty, a Fish Extender is pretty easy to make. Follow these simple steps and you can’t go wrong!

Disney Fish Extender 2

Find some fabric that you like – it doesn’t have to be Disney themed, but isn’t that more fun?

Cut the fabric you will use for the pockets into 10 x 12 rectangles.

Disney Fish Extender

Fold over all 4 edges about 1/2 an inch and sew, making the edges nice, clean, and straight.

Cut the fabric for the back, allowing about 2 inches between pockets.

Disney Fish Extender 5

Fold over the edges and sew as you did with the pockets to make the edges nice and clean – for the very top, leave it open wide enough for a dowel to slide through.

Disney Fish Extender

Disney Fish Extender 4

Sew the pockets on the back of the FW – of course, leaving the tops of the pockets open.

Disney Fish Extender 1

Slide the dowel through the top loop you created..

Add a ribbon or rope so that you can hang it up.

Rock Dog Banner

Rock Dog hits theaters a little later this month, February 24th. My husband and I take our daughters to the movies at least once a month, so we love when family friendly movies are out. This one stood out to us because it centers around a wide-eyed Tibetan Mastiff dog named Bodi – and we have two dogs of our own. We have a pug named Khaleesi and a puggle named Sansa and they are part of our family. I cannot imagine a house without a dog or two. I always had a dog growing up and I am excited that my girls will know that companionship as the grow older as well.

Sansa and Khaleesi

Because of our dogs, my daughters take to dog movies. They love movies that have dogs in them. So when I showed them the trailer for Rock Dog, they were really excited! They have been asking us for days when we get to go see it. My husband and I are really looking forward to this movie too because we can tell that it is all about a fun adventure the dogs go on! Let’s face it, some kid’s movies are not entertaining for parents – but I think Rock Dog will be! It looks funny, adventurous, and entertaining!
