ratchet and clank movie poster

If you know me then you know I am a huge gamer! I love video games, it is and always has been, one of my favorite ways to spend my free time! Arguably one of the best video game series is the Ratchet & Clank series. I remember playing the series when I was younger and it was always so entertaining. I always pick up a new one when they come out. This is a series my husband and I can agree on as he always loved it too. So imagine how excited we both were when we heard a movie was coming out based on the video game! Below are the first couple of TV Spots for this film – and they are amazing! I am looking forward to it even more than I was before after watching them! Enjoy!

Synopsis
A CG-animated movie based on the iconic PlayStation video game. Two unlikely heroes struggle to stop a vile alien named Chairman Drek from destroying every planet in the Solana Galaxy. Ratchet is the last of his kind, a foolhardy “lombax” who has grown up alone on a backwater planet with no family of his own. Clank is a pint-sized robot with more brains than brawn. When the two stumble upon a dangerous weapon capable of destroying entire planets, they must join forces with a team of colorful heroes called The Galactic Rangers in order to save the galaxy. Along the way, they will learn about heroism, friendship, and the importance of discovering one’s own identity.

The Choice Hits Theaters This Weekend

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post on behalf of Review Wire Media for Lionsgate. I received information to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation.

The Choice

I have always loved Nicholas Sparks. His books are so romantic and make me tear up easily. If it is Nicholas Sparks, I know it is going to be good. My favorite movie of all time is The Notebook so if I see that a movie is based on one of his novels, I just know it will be a great chick flick! This Valentine’s Day season, The Choice is arriving in theaters everywhere (opening February 5th, 2016 to be exact) and I have asked my husband to take me to see it. I am so excited because I know it will be good. I have spoken to a couple of fellow bloggers who were lucky enough to check out screeners for it and they have told me it is great – which I knew it would be. Enter to win a The Choice prize package below – and go see the movie when it comes out this weekend!

The Choice Still 2

Spanning a decade and tracing the evolution of a love affair that is ultimately tested by life’s most defining events, this story features a memorable ensemble of friends and family in Sparks’s beloved North Carolina setting, culminating with the question that every couple must ask themselves: how far would you go to keep the hope of love alive?

I don’t know about you but I am counting down the days until Zootopia comes out! My girls are super excited to see it, and you know I am too! We just took the girls to a movie this weekend and one of the trailers was for Zootopia and they were laughing the whole time. She even asked if she could bring some friends to see it when it comes out March 4th, 2016 and I say the more the merrier! As they sleep soundly right now, I am printing out some coloring and activity sheets and I cannot wait to dig into them tomorrow! Mommy might even color a page or two by herself tonight. Why Brad Paisley is the Best Concert You Will Ever See

27

Brad Paisley

You may not know this about me, but I am a huge country music fan. In college and immediately after graduating I worked at a couple of different radio stations on the promotions team. It was always a good time and I loved being able to see the other side of artists that you don’t see on stage. One of my favorite people to meet was Brad Paisley. He was a total sweetheart and down to Earth. Just a normal guy. He has always been one of my favorite artists because I think he is incredibly talented. When I met my husband he really didn’t know much about Brad, but I played his music for him and then took him to a concert. Now, he isn’t a huge country fan, but he still says Brad Paisley is one of the best concerts he has ever been to. If you don’t know who he is (you must live under a rock) look him up and go check him out. He is currently touring (Crushin’ It World Tour) and he has lots of dates coming up in 2016. Read on about why Brad puts on the best concert you will ever see – and then check out his upcoming tour dates here – you will thank me!

https://www.instagram.com/p/BBL_DhYuPNU/

The Way He Plays Guitar
Flawlessly. That is the best way to describe it. He has an album that is predominantly instrumentals (titled Play) because he is THAT good. I would have no problem going to a concert and just listening to him play guitar – and not even sing one song. He is incredible! I just saw him at The Oncenter in Syracuse and during the final song he played using a beer bottle (fittingly during the song Alcohol) and he did not mess up at all. Not to mention, his guitars are always so cool looking! They are bright and shiny, they have paisley designs (of course), and always fun to look at. I noticed several people in the audience closing their eyes for a song or two just to really take in his skills – the man knows how to play guitar!

Brad Paisley

The Way He Interacts with the Crowd
Many artists play to their crowd, of course, but Brad Paisley, he does it right. He would walk up and down his catwalk taking cellphones out of the hands of his fans. He not only took selfies, but he took videos of himself singing and playing a few times. Can you imagine if you had that video on your phone? How incredible! There were a few little kids in the audience that I noticed up front (because his music is more or less clean which is another reason I love him) and Brad noticed them too. At one point he signed a guitar that he was playing and handed it to a little girl. And after playing his entire show in his cowboy hat, he put it on the head of another little girl as he was leaving the stage. Not to mention the numerous times he changed lyrics to fit upstate New York (where he was playing) and the videos that featured our beloved basketball players and mascots.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BBMLhKWPvjc/

Minimal Talking
Now, don’t get me wrong. It’s not like Brad just walks out on stage and plays music and leaves. As I said above, he has some great crowd interaction and knows how to put on a show. But we pay our money to go to a concert to watch our favorite artists play music, not to just talk, and Brad knows this. He flows from song to song so that he can squeeze in as many as he can. He has a ton of hits and he plays a lot of them. He does stop now and then to chat, but he doesn’t ramble on, and I love that about his shows.

The Music
Brad Paisley has some amazing songs. If you are looking for a tear jerker, something to laugh along with, or just a party song – well he has them all! He truly has something for everyone when it comes to his music. Emotional songs like She’s Everything and Whiskey Lullaby have me tearing up every time I listen to them. But then he plays songs like I’m Still A Guy, Ticks, and Online and I can’t help but laugh as I sing along. Then there are the fun party songs like Mud on the Tires and Alcohol that have me holding my beer in the air as I dance around.

Great Show No Matter Where You Sit
Brad puts on a great show from any seat in the venue. No matter where you are, you are guaranteed to have a great time. Not one person was sitting during his show – everyone was on their feet and having a blast! Brad wants all of his fans to have a good time – and view – not only does he move around his large stage which has a catwalk that goes in to another stage, but he walked through the audience to a stage at the other end of the venue. Yup, he got off stage, went through the crowd (and was still playing the guitar as he did this, by the way) and jumped up on a smaller stage toward the back of the floor. I had been in about the 9th row and all of a sudden I am behind him! I should mention that I have seen Brad from as close as the front row to as far back as lawn seats at an amphitheater and I always have an amazing time. The screen behind him is constantly showing a fun video to go along with his songs – and he even “facetimed” with Carrie Underwood to sing a duet. I should also mention that he had a bar up on stage with a fully functional tap! Cam, one of the opening acts on the tour, came out to sing Whiskey Lullaby with him (you need to check her out – incredible!).

Overall I say, even if you are not a big country fan, you need to go see Brad Paisley. If you like and appreciate music, you will enjoy one of his concerts. I can guarantee it!

The Finest Hours: In Theaters TOMORROW

finest hours

My husband was in the U.S. Navy so he is really into anything that has to do with the water. Any Navy or Coast Guard film that comes out is a must see for him. He has been looking forward to The Finest Hours for quite some time because it is based on a true story – one of the most daring Coast Guard rescue missions in history. From the second he found out that it was being made into a film, he has been waiting to see it. As soon as I heard the list of actors involved (Casey Affleck, Ben Foster, Chris Pines…), found out Disney was doing it, and saw the first trailer – I was hooked! Of course since I grew up in Massachusetts and this is set there, I am excited about that as well. Just check out the clips and featurettes below and try to tell me you don’t want to see this film. You won’t be able to do it! It looks so good. The Finest Hours hits theaters everywhere on January 29th and we plan to go see it this weekend, will you be going?

Synopsis
A heroic action-thriller, “The Finest Hours” is the remarkable true story of the most daring rescue mission in the history of the Coast Guard. Presented in Digital 3D™, Real D 3D and IMAX® 3D, the film will transport audiences to the heart of the action, creating a fully-immersive cinematic experience on an epic scale. On February 18, 1952, a massive nor’easter struck New England, pummeling towns along the Eastern seaboard and wreaking havoc on the ships caught in its deadly path, including the SS Pendleton, a T-2 oil tanker bound for Boston, which was literally ripped in half, trapping more than 30 sailors inside its rapidly-sinking stern. As the senior officer on board, first assistant engineer Ray Sybert (Casey Affleck) soon realizes it is up to him to take charge of the frightened crew and inspire the men to set aside their differences and work together to ride out one of the worst storms to ever hit the East Coast. Meanwhile, as word of the disaster reaches the U.S. Coast Guard station in Chatham, Massachusetts, Warrant Officer Daniel Cluff (Eric Bana) orders a daring operation to rescue the stranded men. Despite overwhelming odds, four men, led by Coast Guard Captain Bernie Webber (Chris Pine), set out in a wooden lifeboat with an ill-equipped engine and little, if any, means of navigation, facing frigid temperatures, 60-foot high waves and hurricane-force winds.

Disney’s “The Finest Hours” is the unforgettable story of the Coast Guard’s courageous mission, which is directed by Craig Gillespie and stars: Chris Pine; Academy Award® and Golden Globe® nominee Casey Affleck; Ben Foster; Holliday Grainger; John Ortiz; and Eric Bana. Produced by Jim Whitaker and Dorothy Aufiero, the screenplay is by Oscar® nominee Scott Silver and Oscar nominees Paul Tamasy & Eric Johnson based on the acclaimed non-fiction book of the same name by Casey Sherman and Michael J. Tougias. Doug Merrifield serves as executive producer. “The Finest Hours” storms into U.S. theaters on January 29, 2016 in Digital 3D™, Real D 3D and IMAX® 3D.

Peanuts’ Valentine’s Day Specials to Air Friday, February 12 on ABC

1660421_10153400804507058_5092461071696761471_n

I am a HUGE fan of Snoopy, Charlie Brown, and the rest of the Peanuts gang! Every holiday, I search my TV Guide frantically to find out the air dates of the specials. Believe me, I have them all on DVD, but there is something about watching it on TV with my daughters like I did growing up that really adds to the holiday. It just wouldn’t be the same if we didn’t make popcorn and sit on the floor in front of the TV to watch them as they air. Well, I have found out when the Peanuts Valentine’s Day Specials are airing and I wanted to pass the information on to you guys! Be sure to set your alarms (or your DVRs) and enjoy!

Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown,” the 1975 special produced and animated by the same team that gave us the now classic holiday specials and taken directly from the late cartoonist Charles M. Schulz’s famed comic strip, will air with the classic “A Charlie Brown Valentine,FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 12 (8:00-9:00 p.m. EST) on the ABC Television Network.

In “Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown,” hearts are fluttering on Valentine’s Day at Birchwood School, and Linus has brought a huge box of candy for his homeroom teacher. Thinking that the candy is for her, Sally reciprocates with a homemade card for Linus. Meanwhile, Lucy demands some affection from Schroeder, and Charlie Brown waits for his cards in the mail… and waits… and waits…

This special stars Duncan Watson (Charlie Brown), Stephen Shea (Linus), Melanie Kohn (Lucy), Greg Felton (Schroeder), Lynn Mortensen (Sally) and Linda Ercoli (Violet). “Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown” was executive-produced by Lee Mendelson, produced by Bill Melendez and directed by Phil Roman. Music was composed and performed by Vince Guaraldi. It will air with Spanish audio via SAP.

20160124_140447

A Charlie Brown Valentine” marked the first newly created programming from the PEANUTS team in several years. In this special, Charlie Brown finally works up the courage to call the little red- haired girl to ask her to the Valentine’s Day dance. But once again he ends up broken-hearted and empty-handed when he dials the wrong number and reaches Peppermint Patty instead. Cast members include Wesley Singerman (Charlie Brown), Lauren Schaffel (Lucy), Corey Padnos (Linus), Emily Lalande (Peppermint Patty), Jessica D. Stone (Marcie) and Christopher Ryan Johnson (Schroeder). Lee Mendelson was executive-producer and Bill Melendez was producer and director of “A Charlie Brown Valentine.”

On October 2, 1950 the PEANUTS comic strip launched in seven American newspapers. Who would have guessed the impact the brand would have around the world for decades to come. Nearly 60 years later, the comic strip appears in over 2,200 newspapers, in 75 countries and 21 languages. PEANUTS animated specials have become a seasonal tradition and thousands of consumer products are available in virtually all retail channels. Charlie Brown kicking the football, Linus and his blanket and Lucy leaning over Schroeder’s piano are images to which everyone can relate. Such phrases as “Security Blanket” and “Good Grief” have become a part of the global vernacular. Lee Mendelson and Bill Melendez’s association with Charles Schulz stretches back to 1965 with “A Charlie Brown Christmas,” which debuted on CBS in 1965 with Mendelson as executive producer and Bill Melendez as animator and director. The three men continued their long-term association until Schulz’s death, working together on 50 PEANUTS network specials and four feature films. The network specials won five Emmys, two Peabodys and 18 other Emmy nominations.

These programs carry a TV-G parental guideline.

New Year, New You with SodaStream Power & Sparkling Water

61

Disclosure: Mama Smith’s Review Blog received this item in exchange for her honest review. All opinions expressed are 100% hers.

SodaStream Power

The majority of New Year’s Resolutions are related to losing weight, exercising, and getting healthy. I know that is what mine was about this year. When I heard about the new SodaStream Power and all of the Sparkling Water options that they introduced to their line.

We still love our SodaStream that we got a while back (read that full review here) and use it all the time. My husband and I enjoy soda and while the SodaStream soda is far better for you than main stream store bought soda, we have been trying to cut it out completely. Part of my addiction to soda is the carbonation. That is why sparkling water is such a good solution. Not only are the flavors amazing, but the carbonation helps curb some of my cravings.

I was really impressed with the SodaStream Power. Designed by Yves Béhar, the Power is an Automatic Sparkling Water Maker that offers a more convenient solution for carbonating water with touch button activation as well as quick snap-lock bottle insertion. The sophisticated and sleek design with metal accent fits nicely into any home décor. I thought the SodaStream was easy to use but this has made it as simple as possible. Plug it in, insert the bottle, and press a button. After the machine carbonates it for you (that is right, no more pushing down to carbonate the water), and then just pour in your mix.

SodaStream Power   SodaStream Power   SodaStream Power   SodaStream Power

There are three different levels of carbonation (and you can even go through the process twice if you like your sparkling water more “sparkling”). My daughters love to help and so we let them each push a button (we prefer the level 2 button twice) whenever we make a new bottle. If we make a bottle without them, we don’t hear the end of it! Speaking of the girls, I love that they can enjoy these Sparkling Water flavors with us. After trying the berry, my 4 year old said “This is so good, I can’t feel my life!!”. I am not so sure what that means, but it must be good right? My 3 year old asks for “that bubbly flavored water” all the time now too! As a whole, my family is totally impressed with this system.
