Disclosure: Mama Smith is receiving an all expenses paid trip to attend these events. All opinions expressed are 100% her own.
I have loved everything Disney ever since I was a little girl. For me, the magic never ended. This October I am heading to Disney World for the 15th time and I cannot wait. My husband says that the second we cross under that arch, I turn into a 5 year old again. My eyes tear up and I have the biggest smile on my face. I have no problem waiting in line for hours to meet my favorite characters and I love chatting with them. It truly is the most magical place on Earth for me and I am counting the days (71!!) to take my daughters for their second time. However, I have always wanted to go to Disneyland – to see where Walt walked, to see where it all started – it has just never been in the cards for me. Until now.
I recently opened up my email to find that it had been sprinkled with pixie dust – I was invited on another Disney trip (remember I got to attend the Inside Out LA premiere, get a sneak peak at Phineas and Ferb’s Last Day of Summer, chat with Kyle MacLauchlan, and dance with Chrissie Fit & Jordan Fisher after watching Teen Beach 2 in June). And this trip, well, it was going to be a trip like no other. I was invited to attend the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California in August (14-16). Now if you don’t know what this is and you love Disney, then you need to hear about it. It is basically a dream come true for Disney fanatics like me. I have always wanted to attend but flights from the East Coast to the West Coast are so pricey – and my girls are just getting to the age where I can leave them for a few days. You may have seen my previous posts about the things that are going to be there but if you haven’t, here they are again:
- All New Product Collections from the Disney Store
- Sneak Peak at Disney’s Upcoming Film Slate
- Meet ABC Family Stars
- ABC Television Q&As and Autograph Sessions
- Eight Disney Legends to be Honored at D23 Expo
I love that Star Wars and Marvel are a part of this and I am looking forward to exclusives from Captain America: Civil War and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Of course the Frozen FANdemonium looks pretty amazing too.

So at this point I was dancing around the living room singing Disney songs and basically bouncing off the walls with excitement. Life just could not get better, could it? Well, I was wrong, a couple days later I found out that not only are we going to be attending the ultimate Disney fan event – we would be able to head over to Disneyland for several hours to check it out as well. I admit, there may have been tears of joy when I found out. I have been researching everything about Disneyland so that I can be sure to take make the most of our time there.
The fact that Disneyland is celebrating it’s 60th year with Disneyland 60 Diamond Celebration right now is just the icing on the cake. There is a new Electrical Parade “Paint the Night” which I am dying to see. The whole park is decorated and there is special dining, entertainment, and of course shopping experiences! I am so excited to check out Indiana Jones, Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride (I miss this at WDW!), Pirates, and of course Cars Land. Since we have park hoppers, I will be able to check out Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure! I am seriously over the moon guys! We will only have 5 hours there so I am going to be relying on those that have been there before to help me do it right!
I will be attending this event with 24 other amazing bloggers that are just as crazy about Disney as I am. We are planning costumes, chatting about which rides to hit, and getting each other even more excited. Be sure to follow everyone on social media (Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram) to get exclusive photos and information in real time as we attend this incredible event! Oh, and download Periscope, because I just might be trying my hand at that as well! While there, we will be staying at the Hyatt Regency Orange County which is just a few blocks from Disneyland. This place is gorgeous and I am hoping I have enough time to hop in the pool! It looks so inviting. I know this trip is sure to fly by and before I know it I will be back at my computer, letting you guys know about all the amazing things I have found out. Be sure to follow me – and if you are going to the D23 Expo, find me and say hi!
