My 5 Favorite Moments in Star Wars: The Last Jedi WARNING SPOILERS!

As you may or may not know, my husband and I are huge Star Wars fans. We attended Star Wars Weekend at Walt Disney World for our honeymoon, and even walked out at our reception to the Imperial Death March. So to say we have been waiting for The Last Jedi to hit theaters for a while now is an understatement. We were both really excited to see how this movie fit in. I know some Star Wars fans out there were not happy with it, but we both were. Here are my 5 favorite moments – and a few honorable mentions – yeah, it was hard to narrow it down.

Warning, anything you read further will contain some pretty heavy spoilers of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Rey & Kylo

Rey and Kylo Ren (Ben Solo). Light and Dark. The interaction between these two was one of my favorite parts of the film. Whenever they would see each other, it was meaningful. These were my favorite parts of the movie because we learned a lot about both of them. We discovered what really happened between Luke and Ben, as well as where Rey came from. The moment that Kylo chose to save Rey and kill Snoke gave me chills. And part of me totally wanted her to take his hand and rule with him. I mean, they would make a pretty badass couple. Here’s to hoping that ends up happening somehow down the road.

Yoda Burning Down the Tree

Yoda showing up in this film made my heart happy. The timing was perfect and I loved seeing him joke with Luke (at Luke’s expense again). When he created the lightning that burned the tree, and he started laughing, and kicking his little feet – I couldn’t help but smile and laugh out loud. It was truly one of my favorite moments in the film because 1. I adore him, but 2. because of the message. The Jedi are so much more than a tree and some books (even though Rey has the books in her possession, which I also love!).

Rose Saving Finn

The interaction between Rose and Finn throughout the film was great. From the moment they met when she was fangirling over him, to just a few moments later when she stunned him, to her saving him at risk of killing herself, and of course, that quick little kiss. The reason this is in my top moments is because of what she said. The battle isn’t about destroying evil, it is about saving things that you love. What a great message.

R2-D2 and Luke

When Artoo projected Leia’s original message from A New Hope, I couldn’t help but laugh and tear up all at the same time. Talk about coming full circle. In my mind, at least, I think that is what put Luke over the edge and made him want to help. Which leads me to my next favorite part of the movie.

Luke Saving the Day

Luke had to have known that projecting himself that far, for that long, would likely kill him. And he did it anyways. He gave the rebellion that spark that they needed to move forward. And I loved it. His death was so peaceful, and I think it really helped to move the whole story forward into the next episode. All that being said, I do hope we see him again in the future, in some way.

Final Thoughts

Of course there are other notable great moments. Like just about anything Poe Dameron did, and Justin Theroux’s cameo. Obviously the Porgs and every single thing they did. Overall, I thought this movie was fantastic. As a huge Star Wars fan, I approve. I have read a lot of people being negative about it, but they just don’t like change, I think. Change is sometimes good. In my opinion, Rey’s parentage was perfection. As was Snoke’s death.

Every single time I saw Carrie Fisher on the screen, I teared up. My heart melted when Kylo couldn’t press the button to fire on his mom – and I REALLY wanted Kylo to turn to the light side at that very moment. There were many times that they could have easily killed off Leia so that they didn’t have to worry about not having Carrie for the next film, but they didn’t. I adore that. The story was perfect as it was, and losing her would have been too much for fans, I think. My thoughts are they will kill her off silently and we will not see her in Episode IX, or she will be in the first few moments and then die. I hope they stick to not using CGI on her, and dig through old footage if needed.

I grew up watching DuckTales, so when I heard that Disney XD was bringing it back, I was pretty excited. In fact, walking around Walt Disney World this summer, my whole family was singing “DuckTales Woo-oo!” wherever we went. I am thrilled to be able to bring my daughters up watching this show, since it meant so much to me when I was younger. Recently, we were sent an advance copy of DuckTales: Woo-oo, a special from the new season.

This special is so much fun! The entire family loved watching it – and got really invested in the adventure that was going on. There are a few nail biters, and we were on the edge of our seats a few times. But most of all, we had a lot of laughs with some of our favorite characters! Fans of the popular Netflix original series, Stranger Things, can put their viewing skills to the test with this exciting game to be played while watching! Players are dealt a series of cards, each one listing something to look for within episodes of Seasons 1 and 2. The cue on a card might have a player looking for flickering lights, or specific character actions such as when Eleven uses her powers. Listening skills will be challenged as players eagerly await for phrases such as “monster hunting” or “bad men are coming.” Some cues are single appearances and some are more generic and open for interpretation, allowing for healthy debate. Earn points when something onscreen matches the cue on a card — and subtract points for leftover cards. The player with the most points after each episode wins. Exploding Kittens (Card Game)

It is a highly-strategic, kitty-powered version of Russian Roulette. Players draw cards until someone draws an Exploding Kitten, at which point they explode, they are dead, and they are out of the game. Unless that player has a Defuse card which can defuse the kitten using things like laser pointers, belly rubs, and catnip sandwiches. All of the other cards in the deck are used to move, mitigate, or avoid the Exploding Kittens. This is a card game for people who are into kittens and explosions and laser beams and sometimes goats. We took that description straight from the site, because, let’s face it: we’re not going to be funnier than the guy behind The Oatmeal.

Tangled the Series Queen for a Day

Everyone in my family is a HUGE Rapunzel fan. Tangled is hands down one of our favorite Disney movies. We watch it together at least once a month. A while back, when it was announced there was going to be a Tangled show, we were all thrilled! We tuned in on premiere night and have been hooked ever since. Tangled the Series: Queen for a Day is a special that aired in November. We loved it, so were super excited to get an advance copy of it on DVD! It hits stores December 12th – just in time to be the perfect stocking stuffer!

Rapunzel Flynn

This one hour special (46 minutes because of commercials) is one of the best Tangled stories, in my opinion. We really get to see Rapunzel come into her own and lead. My daughters really enjoyed seeing Rapunzel be fully in charge for one, even though things get pretty hard for her. I believe it teaches kids a great lesson – to follow your heart.

Synopsis

The fate or Corona hangs in the balance when Rapunzel faces the ultimate test in “Queen for a Day.” When the King and Queen leave town, Rapunzel is set to lead. However, when a blizzard threatens to destroy Corona, the Princess is faced with some tough decisions.

Something you probably know about me is that I am a gamer. I have been playing video games for over 25 years and am totally blown away by the progress and technological advances that have been made. I enjoy all types of games, but some of my favorites are shooters and RPGs.

My girls are still young, so they are both still in carseats, which can take up a lot of space. So when I got into the 2018 Kia Stinger GT2, I immediately looked around the back seat. I even took some time to sit in it and really get a feel for how much space is back there. My conclusion? Both carseats would fit back there with no problems at all. In fact, the girls would still have a ton of room. There are even storage pockets behind the front seats to hold tablets and toys and other road trip must haves for little ones. This car easily fits up to a family of 5 – carseats and all!

Cargo Space

My daughters do lots of extracurricular activities. From basketball, to dance, to swimming – so we need a lot of cargo space in our car. Between sports bags and grocery bags – not to mention our road survival kit – we have a lot of items in our car any given time. The Kia Stinger’s cargo space is a whopping 23.3 cu. ft. with seats up and 40.9 cu. ft. with seats down. That is a TON of room! In fact, I fit myself, quite comfortably I must say, in that cargo space – with room to spare.

Safety

As a mom, the most important thing for me when buying a car is safety. I had a friend who echoed a similar sentiment and this is why she bought this car herself. Thankfully for her, she had some financial help from her parents who made use of an independent calculator to figure out how much equity could be released of the parents home to aid in the purchase of the car. But I digress. There are several safety features that stand out about the 2018 Kia Stinger to me. Features like blind spot detection, rear child-safety door locks, and the LATCH system for car seats are a big deal. Those are things that you need when you are driving around with everything precious to you in the back seat of your car. As a bonus, the Kia Stinger also offers cornering brake control, which monitors and adjusts braking force to EACH wheel. Speaking of brakes, the Stinger has Brembo Brakes – which makes me feel even safer in it.
