Summer is finally here – but not every day is going to be perfect and sunny. Let’s face it, some days you are going to have to stay inside. It could be raining, or just too hot. I have two little girls (ages 4 and 6) and I know how hard it can be to entertain them sometimes. Here are some screen free ideas that we do together when we just can’t get outside.

We are Disney fanatics in our home and have really been looking forward to see Cars 3. On opening weekend, we decided to go see it, and are very glad we did. My husband and I really enjoyed the movie and thought it shared a great lesson for kids and society in general. However, our girls were maybe a tad young (and tired) for it – they are 4 and (just turning) 6. I do think this is still a must see movie, but for the younger kids, perhaps waiting until it is on DVD and Disney Movies Anywhere is best.

My husband and I rarely get a date night so we are very particular about the movies we choose to see in the theaters. The House, which stars Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler, is one of those movies. From the first time we saw the trailer we knew this was a “must see in theaters” type of movie. It looks hilarious and right up our alley, not to mention the entire cast is filled with our favorite actors.

As I am sure many of you know by now, I am a HUGE Marvel fanatic. I collect the comic books, I collect the toys, I collect the movies – and I even have a few Marvel related tattoos. So I was thrilled to hear today that Sony Music announced the release of SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) featuring the music of Grammy® and Academy Award®-winning composer Michael Giacchino. The soundtrack will be released on July 7 and is available for pre-order here.

We are a family that loves to play games. In fact, many nights and days are spent around the dining room table playing board games. Playing games as a family at least a few times a week is something that I grew up doing and feel is very important to continue with my daughters. The Smiths are also huge fans of the Despicable Me and Minions movies. My girls flip over the little yellow guys, and my husband and I enjoy the fact that this a franchise we laugh at while watching too. Hasbro has recently released some Despicable Me 3 themed games in celebration of the new movie which hits theaters later this month!

In a world where good deeds and kindness are happening less and less often, it is more important than ever to teach our kids about giving back. Now, thanks to The Good Cards, I have an easy way to do this for my girls that they will find fun and exciting. The Good Cards is a real life game powered by a mobile app that is simple to use. This game is sure to have the whole world doing good deeds and helping each other out in no time.

I have two young girls and we are Disney fanatics, so I think it is safe to say we love Frozen in this household. In fact, we still watch it at least once a month, if not more. There are times when we get on a Frozen kick and will watch it every day for a week. Some people might disagree, but to us, the songs and story just don’t get old. Possibly because I have two girls and the sisterly love between Anna & Elso makes me cry every time I watch it (don’t judge). Being the fans that we are, we were thrilled to hear about a new Frozen featurette, Olaf’s Frozen Adventure, joining COCO in theaters later this year.

My husband is almost impossible to buy for. So when it comes to Father’s Day gifts, my daughters and I have to think outside the box. We have found some great items while shopping this year, and so I wanted to pass them along to my readers. All items listed were personally tested by myself and/or my husband.

In our house, we love Shaun the Sheep. I have watched stuff from him for as long as I can remember, and I just love that my girls are fans now too. We went to see the Shaun the Sheep movie in theaters and it is one of our best family memories. Naturally, we were thrilled to receive an advance copy of the newest Shaun the Sheep DVD, Animal Antics! Shaun the Sheep: Animal Antics arrives on DVD and Digital HD June 13 from Lionsgate. With seven laugh out loud episodes and new special features, this DVD is a must have for families!

The Live Action Beauty and the Beast is one of my new favorite Disney films. I adored the original, which made me quite nervous about this one, but I was pleased it. And who knew Dan Stevens could sing am I right? This movie just hit stores everywhere this past week and in order to celebrate, we threw another Disney Movie Night Under the Stars! We went all out, Beauty and the Beast style, and you can too (I promise, it is really easy).
