In the most recent Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer, we got a good idea of where this story line is going. We already knew that Mysterio was going to be in this movie, but now we see just how major a role he is going to play. Is he actually a hero? Likely not. But fans of the comics know to never trust him as he is a master of manipulation and deception. If you want a quick background on him, and what we might see for him in the MCU, here are 5 comic books to read.
If you don’t know that I am a huge comic book nerd by now, you probably never will. My favorite day of the year is coming – FREE COMIC BOOK DAY 2019! Now every store runs this amazingly geeky day differently. I have been to stores where they allow people to take one of each comic if they wish, but most limit you to one from the “gold” section and one or two from the “silver” section. Depending on the year this can be a tough decision. In fact, it usually is (especially for me) because often the main story lines tie in to things that came out during Free Comic Book Day.
The X-Men are some of my favorite characters in Marvel Comics. I am not going to lie, I am HYPED that Marvel Studios now has control over this franchise. Some of the X-Men films have been….sub par. The final Fox owned film, Dark Phoenix, is coming to us this June, and I am mildly excited. It seems like every trailer we see, it gets better and better. To prepare those of you who know nothing about the Phoenix force, here is a list of 5 comics you should check out before seeing this movie in theaters.
As you likely already know, I am a total comic book nerd. So of course throughout both of my screenings of Avengers: Endgame, I was taking note of all the comic book Easter Eggs and references. Being that it is such an emotional movie and I literally watched most of it through tears, I am sure there are many more I have missed. I decided to collect my 10 favorites, that I am sure massive fans like me loved too!
Avengers: Endgame is going to be hitting theaters THIS MONTH – and the hype is REAL guys! I cannot wait to see this movie on the big screen. I need closure! Of course we have yet to see too much, but as I mentioned in my Endgame trailer two breakdown and Endgame special look breakdown – we do have some information. However, I live by the motto never trust the Russo Brothers, so who really knows what we will see. As an avid comic book reader, I am going to do my best to prepare with the 5 comics you should read before seeing it. But since we haven’t really gotten any information on where the story is going, this is all speculation at this point.
If you truly know me, you know I love comics books. Yes, I prefer Marvel, but I love me some DC too. I mean, my daughter is named Ivy after Poison Ivy for a reason. I have to admit, about 5 pages in to the new graphic novel DC Super Sons: The Polarshield Project, I was hooked. There was no way I could put it down without knowing what happened next. And a couple hours later I was finished with it. The story sucked me right in, and remained compelling throughout. This comic took me on a super ride, and I passed it right on to my oldest daughter to check it out.
After streaming the first episode of SyFy’s Deadly Class before it even aired, I was instantly hooked (just check out my Deadly Class review of episode one). I knew immediately that this show was right up my alley. First of all, it is based on a comic book, and you know how much I love my comic books. Second, it is filled with action. And not just any action. Gory action. There is also bad language, and inappropriate situations. Plus the Russo Brothers are Executive Producers, so I knew it was going to only get better. I was hooked all season long, and the finale just left me begging for more.
As you likely already know, Carol Danvers has been one of my favorite characters in Marvel comics for a very long time. And even though I did NOT agree with her stance in Civil War II, I still love her. The Life of Captain Marvel comic run just ended and dropped a couple major bombs. Carol has been through a lot lately, and has learned things that will effect her for a very long time to come. Captain Marvel #1 just came out this week, and picked up her story right where it left off. I read this comic through 5 times yesterday because it is THAT good. And here is why.
I have told you before I am sure, but Carol Danvers has been one of my favorite Marvel ladies for a long time. Back when she was Ms. Marvel, she was amazing, and I was hooked on her story lines. And then she became Captain Marvel, which was insanely cool. She is a total badass. Super strong. She can take down Iron Man guys. And HARD! With the Captain Marvel movie hitting theaters this March, all fans should be familiar with some story lines. Here are the five comic books that I recommend reading before you go see Captain Marvel.
If you didn’t know, I am a big comic book collector and reader. I have…
