My girls (OK, and me too) love PBS Kids. It is on in our house pretty much every morning. My daughters love Daniel Tiger, Dinosaur Train, Super Why, & Peg+Cat like they were family. If you have not watched PBS Kids with your little ones, you really need to. They have tons of great shows for children that are fun, educational, and that parents love too. I have yet to find a show on PBS Kids that we do not enjoy watching. We also play at PBSKids.org a lot – my 3.5 year old loves giving Daniel Tiger’s little sister a bath and having a tea party with him and his friends!
My daughters love to watch Caillou. PBS Kids is one of our favorite channels to watch on TV and they are always excited when Caillou comes on. We have a couple Caillou DVDs already and my youngest is always asking to take them in the car so she can watch them on trips. She even picked out Caillou to watch when it was her turn to choose for Family Movie Night. Caillou recently had his 25th Anniversary (this makes me feel old!) and released Caillou’s Can Do Collection 3-DVD set to celebrate!
My daughters have always enjoyed shows like Sid the Science kid, where they get to learn science in a fun way – but lately my oldest daughter has been watching shows like How It’s Made with my husband and I (and asking a ton of questions!). I was really excited to receive PBS Kids’ SciGirls Seasons 1 & 2 on DVD because I knew it was something she would enjoy watching. It is focused on Tweens, but she was glued to the TV for several episodes!
Come on down to the Bar None Ranch, where well-meaning owner Mr. Ernst (David Brisbin) tries his best to ride herd on his teenage staff, who always seem to be getting into some sort of scrape or other as they work and play on the range. Hey Dude stars Christine Taylor as lifeguard Melody, David Lascher as senior staff member Ted, Kelly Brown as horse trainer Brad, Joe Torres as the easygoing Danny, Debra Kalman as ranch hand Lucy and Josh Tygiel as Ernst’s son, Buddy. Hey Dude ran on Nickelodeon from 1989 – 1991 and has since become a cult sitcom favorite.
One of the favorite shows in my house is Peg + Cat. My girls and I love to watch PBS Kids every morning. They tend to sleep in late (I have to break them of that since morning school starts next year) and wake up just in time for Peg + Cat at 9am. We always watch it during breakfast – it is part of our morning routine. Lately, my 3 year old has been begging to watch it in the car everywhere we go. We have had the Pirates Ahoy DVD for some time (see my post about it here) and so I have been hoping to get another Peg+Cat DVD soon to switch it up. The Peg+Cat: Peg Rocks DVD includes some really fun episodes with lots of music! I have caught myself singing along on more than one occasion. Purchase your copy here.
My girls are huge fans of NCircle Entertainment DVDs. We have several and they are always go-tos when heading out on long drives or on sick days. My daughters were both so excited when I showed them the new ones that came the other day! They are huge Octonauts fans so that went in right away! We also all love Pocoyo, but he is on so early in the morning we rarely get to watch him. I was super excited to have one of his DVDs and we have watched this a few times already. We had never seen Wibbly Pig before, but he is now a family favorite – he is hilarious! The Wiggles have always been popular with my daughters as well, so we are happy to have this DVD too. This is a great set of DVDs for any child.
My daughters and I love Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood. It is one of our favorite PBS Kids shows. We watch it every day. When we know that we will be gone, we set it to record. We love it that much. When I saw the previews this summer that Daniel Tiger would become a big brother – we all got so excited! I immediately set that episode (1 hour special) to record. My girls had fun guessing if he would have a little sister or brother (spoiler alert – he has a baby sister!). I loved how they did the episode. It was great for that age group – did not reveal too much – and really talked about family values. My oldest daughter loves singing the songs from this episode and talking about how she will be a big helper big sister, just like Daniel Tiger is a big helper big brother.
My daughters love to watch Pound Puppies. OK, I love to cuddle up with them and watch it too. The shows are actually pretty entertaining and they always have a good lesson to teach kids. The puppies are pretty cute too. I remember watching Pound Puppies when I was young, so it is really cool to see how much it has changed. On February 3rd, just in time for Valentine’s Day, Pound Puppies: Puppy Love will be available on DVD. This would make a great gift for any little one in your life!
My girls LOVE Peg + Cat! PBS Kids is their absolute favorite thing to watch. I don’t know that I want to admit this but we usually have the TV on in the background while playing in the mornings and PBS Kids is always on. When Peg + Cat first started, my 3 year old did not like it. But, that was because it messed up her schedule and Word World was no longer on. Once she gave it a fair shot, it became a favorite! I love that it really helps the girls with their math. Even my (almost) 2 year old answers the questions right a lot and helps them solve problems! I was so excited to see that they were releasing a new DVD- PEG + CAT: PIRATES AHOY! AND OTHER REALLY BIG PROBLEMS – because I know it would be a great addition to our DVD collection!
