Ahsoka episode 8 absolutely stuck the landing, making it a near perfect season of television, while setting things up for a season two.

Ahsoka Episode 8 “The Jedi, the Witch, and the Warlord” Recap
Ahsoka episode 8 begins with the cargo transfer being complete, and Thrawn being informed they can now leave. He knows that Anakin was Ahsoka’s master and because of this, he infers that her tactics are similar. He orders two Tie Fighters to take her, Sabine, and Ezra out of play.
At the same time, Morgan Elsbeth is ready for her reward for helping the Great Mothers. They tell her they will reward her with shadows. After mumbling some spells, green flames form in between them, revealing a sword.

Ahsoka Episode 8 Recap Continued…
They call it the Blade of Talzin. Fans might recall Mother Talzin, who led the Nightsisters in The Clone Wars, of which this is clearly a reference. Morgan’s eyes also become black, like the Great Mothers, as she is welcomed with open arms.
Meanwhile, Ezra has been building a new lightsaber. His old one is now Sabine’s, of course. Huyang is trying to help him find what he is looking for because Ezra is making a mess. During the back and forth, Ezra learns that Huyang trained Caleb Dume, also known as Kanan Jarrus. Huyang gives Ezra the final piece for his lightsaber, which happens to be the twin of a piece used by Kanan. The color of the saber? Blue.
Sabine watches the two, but eventually leaves when they start to discuss the challenges and bonds between master and padawan. She speaks with Ahsoka, briefly, who admits that she knows Sabine took a gamble in traveling with the bad guys, hoping to find Ezra. Ahsoka tells Sabine that her master was always there to understand her and back her up, even when no one else was.

Ahsoka Episode 8 Recap Continued…
Of course, as soon as Ezra completes his lightsaber, and goes to tell Ahsoka he is ready to take on Thrawn, the Tie Fighters arrive. They don’t put up much of a fight, however, as Sabine flies their ship into them to knock them out. The problem is, the ship is more damaged than expected and the group is now a bit delayed in their plans.
While Huyang stays back to repair the ship, Ahsoka, Sabine, and Ezra head to Thrawn. While dodging attacks, the three use the Force (great seeing Sabine help out) to open the door and get in. They are met with Night Troopers, and after a pretty great fight, they take them all out.
However, the Great Mothers are involved here, so of course they reanimate the corpses and now the Jedi are left fighting Zombie Night Troopers, which is equal parts corny and amazing. Morgan Elsbeth is instructed by Thrawn to give them a little more time to escape, so she stays behind to confront Ahsoka. What follows is probably the best fight in the entire season of Ahsoka. It is great to see the two completely unleashing on each other.
At the same time, Sabine and Ezra are forced to take on some pretty strong zombies. Sabine’s back ends up against the wall, quite literally, after she is disarmed. She struggles for a moment before using the Force to call to her lightsaber and then stabs the zombie night trooper in the head. Epic.

Ahsoka Episode 8 Recap Continued…
Sabine and Ezra make it to the departing Starfighter, but in order to board they are going to need to do some serious force jumping. Sabine suggests that Ezra jump while she pushes him, and then when he boards, he can pull her. She assures him that she can do it, and she can, and it is an amazing scene. Just as she is about to jump to join him, she sees Ahsoka arrive behind her, still fighting Morgan.
Sabine bails on Ezra, who certainly will understand, and goes to help her master. Morgan successfully breaks one of Ahsoka’s lightsabers, but with the help of Sabine, she is able to take the Blade from Morgan, and slice her in the stomach with that and her remaining lightsaber. Ahsoka and Sabine rush to the, now repaired and piloted by Huyang, ship, and go after Thrawn.
Ahsoka Episode 8 Recap Continued…
Thrawn knows he has the upper hand and decides to taunt Ahsoka in the final moments before he departs the galaxy and leaves her and Sabine stranded. He tells her that she is very much like Anakin, and could continue to be, so perhaps it is best she remains in exile.
This is a pretty low blow, even for Thrawn, as he insinuates that Ahsoka has the potential to go to the dark side. Thrawn and the Great Mothers make the jump, and leave Sabine and Ahsoka behind.

Ahsoka Episode 8 Recap Continued…
Baylan and Shin did not get much air time in the Ahsoka season one finale, but they are shown briefly as things wrap up. Baylan is shown with the Mortis Gods statue — the daughter is missing her head, but the Father and Brother are clear.
The Father represents Balance in the Force. The Brother is the personification of the dark side, and the Sister is the personification of the light side. This is a fantastic and stunning shot.
Shin is shown raising her lightsaber up in front of a group of bandits. So will she lead them now?

Ahsoka Episode 8 Recap Continued…
The final moments of Ahsoka episode 8 not only sets up for a season two, it also gives viewers two things they were waiting the entire episode to see. First, Hera and Chopper reunite with Ezra. This is done perfectly, with Ezra arriving dressed as a Strom Trooper, a nod to Star Wars Rebels as this is something he did many times to go undercover. The reunion is touching, as Chopper immediately knew who he was.
With Sabine and Ahsoka stranded, they discuss the events that transpired. Thrawn got away, but at least Ezra got home. Sabine senses something, but then realizes she must just be seeing shadows. As the two walk away, we see Anakin as a force ghost, watching over Ahsoka. Seemingly proving that he has been watching her all along.
