Loki season 2 picks off exactly where it left off, which catapults viewers into a chaotic chain of events. This review is based solely off of the first four episodes of Loki season 2.

Loki was one of the first Marvel Disney+ series and while they all have brought something fun to the table, none have been better since. One of the things that works so well with this series is how it keeps viewers guessing. The chaos continues in season 2 right from the very start. Having seen the first four episodes, we can confirm it doesn’t slow down. Time might work differently at the TVA, but it is ticking, creating an intense, edge of your seat, season that feels like it flies by.
Loki season 2 picks up immediately after the events of the season one finale. Fans will remember that Sylvie killed He Who Remains and the timeline went wild. When Loki returned to the TVA, Mobius did not know who he was. Speculation was that this means he was sent to another timeline. But we had to wait quite a while to find out.

At the end of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, there was a sneak peek at Loki season 2 in which Loki and Mobius were back in the late 1800s watching Victor Timely, a Kang / He Who Remains variant, on stage. This didn’t give us a lot of context, but it did reassure us that the bromance would be back on for season 2.
Fans will be pleased to know that it doesn’t take too long for Mobius and Loki to get back into the swing of things. In an effort to avoid spoilers, we won’t go into detail, but it is so amazing to have them back together — and the hilarious banter that comes along with their relationship. It is (almost) like they never skipped a beat.

Of course, things are pretty intense at the TVA. The whole multiverse has blown open and that puts a lot of pressure on those who have to fix it. Mobius and Loki make a great team, but they can’t do it alone. Hunter B-15 offers some help, but it is newcomer to the season, Ke Huy Quan’s O.B., that really steals the show.
There is a reason this man is a recent Oscar winner. He is unafraid to dive headfirst into a role and embrace the characters he plays for who they are. That is exactly what he does with O.B. He adds in a lot of the comedic relief, giving Owen Wilson a run for his money. O.B. is a man who is used to being by himself, and it is clear just how excited he is to spend time with other people. He is extremely smart and a very welcome addition to the cast.

The trio of Loki, Mobius, and O.B. is one that is going to be hard to beat. They mesh well together and deliver some of the best comedy that a Marvel series has seen in a while.
Fans of Ke might have been worried that his appearance would be a quick one, but don’t worry, not only does he show up in the series a lot, he is a very integral part to the story — more than you can imagine.

Loki is the God of Mischief, and trust us, he gets into quite a bit of it. Whenever he is given the chance, he unleashes magic that will have Loki fans cheering. At the same time, there is a moment or two in that will have viewers in their feels, and even a bit choked up. Loki comes face to face with the fact that he is somewhere in the middle of hero and villain, and he isn’t too keen on it.

Of course Sylvie is back as well. There is some tension left between her and Loki, understandably so. While they haven’t fully resolved things yet within the first four episodes, we can hope that they will get there. Sophia Di Martino once again shines in the role, although to be honest we could always use more of her. The plot itself is the reason she is a bit underused so far in season 2, but we think that her time will come. We hope so anyways.
It might feel like it takes a little too long for another character we knew who would make an appearance, to make one. Victor Timely is a very important part of the story, of course. Thanks to the brilliant writing he fits into the story perfectly. Not underused, not overused, but just right. Once he comes into the picture, he accomplishes exactly what he needs to. That being said, there is something irking about the character that we can’t quite put our finger on.

The biggest issue with Loki season 2 is that it feels a bit rushed at times. This is clearly because things are intense, and with the time crunch that the TVA is under, there is a lot going on. Things are chaotic and the pacing is designed in order to make the audience feel the immense time pressure that Mobius and Loki are under. And it works. It just takes a little bit of time to get used to. No pun intended.
Just as with last season, the sets in Loki season 2 are incredible. Miss Minutes is back, and scarier than ever. Renslayer remains someone you love to hate. And Loki and Mobius’ bromance is just as amazing as ever. With just two more episodes left in the season, things could fall apart. The way the fourth episode ends will leave fans with their jaws on the floor and no idea at all of what could come next. We hope Marvel sticks the landing with this one, and we truly think they will.
