Every summer we go to the local Renaissance Faire. It is something we look forward to all year long, but this year, we decided to keep the fun going by creating one at home. Here are a few things you can do to create your own Renaissance Faire at home.

My girls are starting to read books on their own now, so we have been collecting a lot of new ones. Ones with harder words, but words that they can still figure out on their own. The book Fiona the Hippo was sent to us this month and quickly became one of my 7 year old’s favorites! There are no exceptionally hard words, and at this point it is memorization for her. She just loves sitting down with her little sister and reading to her! This is the perfect book for young readers.
Disney’s Christopher Robin hits theaters next weekend and you KNOW I will be sitting in the theater with my family opening weekend. I grew up loving Winnie the Pooh and all his friends from 100 Acre Wood. In fact, when I had my first daughter, we decorated her nursery fully in Winnie the Pooh decor – complete with murals on the walls. Something about these characters really tugs at my heart strings. As you can see in my reaction video below, the extended sneak peek even got me a little teary. “Silly old bear” did me in. To help celebrate Christopher Robin, print your own coloring pages and activities. Give your kids hours of fun with Winnie the Pooh & his friends!
One of my favorite times with my daughters is story time. From the moment they were born, I would cuddle them and read to them. Well, times are now changing in the Smith household as both girls are reading to me at story time. Sure, I help out with a few words here and there, but they do the majority of the reading, all thanks to I Can Read books. I would be lying if I said it doesn’t make me tear up every now and then. Them reading to me just proves that they are growing up, something I thought I was ready for, but I am not. For a chance to win I Can Read! books of your own, make sure you check out my giveaway at the end of the post.
The day is finally here guys! Incredibles 2 is in theaters! I cannot tell you how long I have been waiting for this movie. While at Pixar Studios I saw about 30 minutes of it and have been DYING to see the rest. This weekend I will be taking my daughters to go see it and I am so excited. Don’t worry, you know I will have a review up for you, so watch for that. In case you missed my coverage from Pixar, I have linked it all for you here. Plus, I have some pretty awesome downloadable coloring pages for you. And go see Incredibles 2 in theaters this weekend – I just know it will be amazing!
Puppy Dog Pals is a hit show on Disney Junior and we love it in our home. It features two adorable pug puppies and since we have a pug (and a puggle), this quickly became a favorite in our house. It is one of the few kids shows that we can watch together as a family and all truly enjoy. On April 10th, the first season was released on DVD and we threw our own Puppy Dog Pals viewing party!
My husband and I went to see Star Wars: The Last Jedi in theaters the weekend it came out. I wrote about my favorite parts of the film already, but honestly, I was itching for the blu-ray release. One of my favorite things about picking up movies on blu-ray is seeing all of the bonus features. I am a sucker for deleted scenes and commentary – I think that is one of the reason I enjoy attending interviews with the cast and crew of movies so much. Star Wars: The Last Jedi is finally available to take home tomorrow, and trust me, you don’t want to miss out on the bonus features!
One of my all time favorite Disney movies is Lady and the Tramp. I have seen it more times than I can count and was thrilled to hear that it joined the highly celebrated Walt Disney Signature Collection. Every member of the family will treasure this timeless tale – loaded with three versions of the film, classic bonus material and three all-new features -when it heads home on February 27th. Lady and the Tramp is the sixth title to join the Walt Disney Signature Collection, which includes groundbreaking films created or inspired by the imagination and legacy of Walt Disney, featuring timeless stories and characters that have touched generations. The film takes its place alongside Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Beauty and the Beast, Pinocchio, Bambi, and The Lion King.
I am a big fan of sappy movies. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love action, comedy, and horror too, but if I am in the mood for a feel good movie, there is nothing else that will satisfy that craving. When Wonder hit theaters a few months ago, I really wanted to go see it. However, we just never got around to it. So I was thrilled to receive an advance copy from Lionsgate so I could finally watch this film.
I grew up watching DuckTales, so when I heard that Disney was bringing it back, I was pretty excited. In fact, walking around Walt Disney World this summer, my whole family was singing “DuckTales Woo-oo!” wherever we went. I am thrilled to be able to bring my daughters up watching this show, since it meant so much to me when I was younger. Recently, we were sent an advance copy of DuckTales: Woo-oo, a special from the new season.
