Women and Their Pretties and Mama Smith are huge movie lovers. In fact, a lot of our conversations consist of movies, actors, and TV Shows. It’s one of many things that we have in common with one another and with our readers. We all love movies. It’s fun to lose yourself in a good film for a couple of hours. It’s even more fun when you dedicate an evening with your family to enjoy all of this together. We have compiled a list of our favorite movies – for families, children, couples, and adults. There’s a little something for everyone on this list. We hope that you enjoy it!

My daughters and I have read Roald Dahl’s The BFG through together a few times – and I have read it more than I can count since I was a little girl. I absolutely love this story and I am so excited that Disney is bringing it to the big screen! Ever since it was announced, I have been anxiously awaiting taking my daughters to the theater to see it. I was a big reader when I was young (still am) and this was one of my favorite books. Just knowing who has been cast for this – hilarious names like Bill Hader and Jemaine Clement – make me confident that Disney has a hit on their hands. I cannot wait to see it! Recently, a new poster and trailer were released and they have made me even more excited for this film – which I honestly did not think was possible. The poster is stunningly beautiful and the trailer is just fantastic.
A family favorite gets reimagined in Kindergarten Cop 2, a fish-out-of water comedy available on DVD and Digital HD as well as On Demand on May 17, 2016, from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. Directed by Don Michael Paul (Jarhead 2: Field of Fire, Tremors 5: Bloodlines), Kindergarten Cop 2 stars action superstar Dolph Lundgren (The Expendables 3, Workaholics) and Bill Bellamy (White Collar, Royal Pains) along with an adorable ensemble of young actors and is bursting with laughs for the entire family. Assigned to recover sensitive stolen data, a gruff FBI agent (Dolph Lundgren) goes undercover as a kindergarten teacher, but the school’s liberal, politically correct environment is more than he bargained for.
In the years following World War I, Tom Sherbourne (Michael Fassbender), a young veteran still numb from his years in combat, takes a job as lighthouse keeper on Janus Rock, a remote island off the coast of Western Australia. As the island’s sole inhabitant, he finds comfort in the monotony of the chores and the solitude of his surroundings. When he meets the daughter of the school’s headmaster, Isabel Graysmark (Alicia Vikander), in the local town of Partageuse on the mainland, Tom is immediately captivated by her beauty, wit and passion, and they are soon married and living on the island. As their love flourishes, he begins to feel again, their happiness marred only by their inability to start a family, so when a rowboat with a dead man and infant girl mysteriously washes ashore, Isabel believes their prayers may have finally been answered. As a man of principle, Tom is torn between reporting the lost child and pleasing the woman he loves, and against his better judgment he agrees to let Isabel raise the child as their own, making a choice with devastating consequences.
As you might know already, I am a huge gamer as well as a huge Disney and Marvel fan. So Disney Infinity is right up my alley. I have pretty much every single figure and playset from all 3 versions (Disney Infinity, Disney Infinity 2.0, and Disney Infinity 3.0), so I was super bummed to hear that Disney Infinity will be no more after the Alice and Finding Dory playset releases over the next couple of months. I am still holding out hope that it will continue on, but even if it doesn’t, it is a fame I will continue to play with my family for years. It is something that has brought us together for lazy Sundays and fun afternoons. It is something my 4 year old is actually really good at – and she enjoys playing. And my 3 year old just has fun making Elsa run in circles and shoot ice – honestly she could do that for hours and would be happy as a clam.
I have been waiting what seems like forever for Finding Dory to hit theaters, and we are finally just about at the one month mark – yay! My daughter turns 5 a week after it comes out and we plan to take her for her birthday (opening weekend of course). She loves Finding Nemo and recently picked out a Finding Dory water table for our new patio. My 3 year old is a huge fan too. I remember going to see Finding Nemo in theaters what seems like too long ago. To help celebrate the upcoming release, I have some awesome activity sheets and games to share with you! These free printables are great for any age – I know I have fun with them.
I have recently been playing Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and I honestly cannot get enough. It is addicting and so much fun! In the story mode of this game, you (as your Mii) train for the Olympics with either Team Mario or Team Sonic – I chose Team Mario but plan to play through on Team Sonic as well. There are 14 Olympic Game events (and 14 Plus Events with a Marion and Sonic twist!) to compete in and so far Beach Volleyball is my favorite – although they are all a lot of fun. Other events include boxing, 110m hurdles, javelin, archery, and even rhythmic gymnastics. I enjoy what I call “mommy time” playing this game by myself, but you can also team up with others. Up to 4 players can compete against each other with just one copy of the game in download play. If you have more than one copy of the game however, you can play using local play and have a wider selection of characters.
“Queen of Katwe” is the colorful true story of a young girl selling corn on the streets of rural Uganda whose world rapidly changes when she is introduced to the game of chess, and, as a result of the support she receives from her family and community, is instilled with the confidence and determination she needs to pursue her dream of becoming an international chess champion. QUEEN OF KATWE opens in theaters on September 23rd!

To celebrate the DVD debut release of Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir this week, I have some amazing coloring sheets featuring the show’s two main characters. Perfect for a superhero super fun weekend activity for the kids! My girls LOVE this show and so they were thrilled when I handed them these pages and some crayons. My 4 year old couldn’t wait to go to school and show her friends!
