These two new featurettes have solidified my need to see this movie on opening weekend. Check them out below:

Inside Out Event & more in LA!

Inside Out

I just had to pop on here and tell you guys the good news! From June 7th to June 9th I will be in LA attending a press event! I am feeling very blessed to have been chosen for this once in a lifetime opportunity. While I am there I will be walking the RED CARPET at the Inside Out premiere (opening in theatres on 6/19) at the El Capitan Theatre! I have been really excited about this movie. It stars a lot of great actors (Bill Hader, Amy Poehler, Lewis Black, etc) and looks so good! I remember seeing the previews when I took my girls to a movie a couple months ago and they are dying to see it!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VEHLnTOyptQ

That is not all! I will also be attending a special screening of Teen Beach 2 (premiering Friday, June 26th at 8:00 p.m., ET/PT on Disney Channel and available on DVD with never-before-seen dance rehearsal bonus feature) AS WELL AS hanging with the stars for an exclusive Q&A and dance lesson! I have watched Teen Beach with my daughters and even at the ages of 2 and 3, they really enjoyed it! I would be lying if I said that my husband and I stayed watching it just for them – we really enjoyed it too.

As if that was not enough, I will be watching a special screening of a special one hour episode (“Last Day of Summer”) of one of my FAVORITE shows – Phineas and Ferb! They are coming up on their final day of summer and I am excited to see what they have in store – I just know they will go all out! I am excited to meet the creators and have a Q&A with them. And now I have the theme song stuck in my head – “There’s 104 days of summer vacation and school comes along just to end it…” As I was saying, every “Phineas and Ferb” story ever told will be presented in a 73-hour marathon beginning TUESDAY, JUNE 9 (8:00 p.m., ET/PT) leading to the ultimate story capper, “Last Day of Summer,” premiering FRIDAY, JUNE 12 (9:00 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney XD and simulcast on Disney Channel. I really love these guys – they were one of my favorites to meet at Disney World last February!

Phineas & Ferb

I cannot wait to share all the amazing details with you guys! Be sure to follow me on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook because I will be sharing a LOT of photos and inside information throughout the event – and after. If you have any questions you want me to ask feel free to comment them below – or email them to me at [email protected] and I will try to get to them.

Invasion of the Overworld

If you have been with me for a little bit than you might remember me mentioning the book Trouble in Zombie-town (read that review here) and how much I loved it. It is part of a series I have been dying to complete so, needless to say, I was super excited for a chance to read Book One in the GAMEKNIGHT999 series, Invasion of the Overworld! This book was a lot of fun and I could not put it down. The writing is great and the story is intriguing. I love that this series is all about Minecraft – that makes it a total Geek, nerd, gamer item to me – which means it fits in perfectly with my FanGirl Friday series! This book really is a must have for any tween/teen because it also addresses the important topic of bullying.

Synopsis:

Gameknight999 loved Minecraft, but above all else, he loved to grief—to intentionally ruin the gaming experience for other users. When one of his father’s inventions teleports him into the game, Gameknight is forced to live out a real-life adventure inside a digital world. What will happen if he’s killed? Will he respawn? Die in real life? Stuck in the game, Gameknight discovers Minecraft’s best-kept secret, something not even the game’s programmers realize: the creatures within the game are alive! He will have to stay one step ahead of the sharp claws of zombies and pointed fangs of spiders, but he’ll also have to learn to make friends and work as a team if he has any chance of surviving the Minecraft war his arrival has started. This action-packed tribute to the worldwide computer game phenomenon is a runaway publishing smash and the perfect companion for Minecraft fans of all ages.

Captain America: Civil War Starts Production

Captain America Civil War

OK guys, I am so super excited about this! Marvel Studios has begun principal photography at Pinewood Studios in Atlanta, Georgia on CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR, the third installment of its Super Hero franchise. The movie opens in theaters everywhere on May 6th, 2016 and I for one, have a countdown going. As a HUGE Marvel buff (I know, I know, you know this by now) I am thrilled about this! I could not be more excited about it. Having read all the comics, I cannot help but wonder just what is going to happen. I hate that I swear no spoilers to you guys because I am sure there is a lot of action, drama, and rifts headed our way! I feel like Avengers: Age of Ultron did really good at foreshadowing something that might happen. Side Note: If you have not seen it yet, you have to! I am thinking of going for the second time this weekend.

Sorry to be so vague guys but this.could.be.epic!! EEEEK! I am fangirling and it is not even FanGirl Friday yet, I know! Sorry! Well, the details of the film are below, I wish I had some photos to share with you guys  but I don’t yet. As soon as I do, I will pass them along, have no fear. Oh and get excited guys, this is going to be huge!

Marvel

ATLANTA, GEORGIA (May 7, 2015) – Marvel Studios has commenced principal photography at Pinewood Studios in Atlanta, Georgia on “Captain America: Civil War,” the third installment of its Super Hero franchise. The production will shoot on location in Atlanta, Georgia, which serves as the base for the film’s production, as well as locations in Germany, Puerto Rico and Iceland.

Set for release in the United States on May 6, 2016, “Captain America: Civil War” is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo (Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” “Community”) from a screenplay by Christopher Markus & Stephen McFeely (“Captain America: The Winter Solider,” Marvel’s “Captain America: The First Avenger”). The film returns Chris Evans (“Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” Marvel’s “Avengers: Age of Ultron”) as the iconic Super Hero character Steve Rogers/Captain America along with Robert Downey Jr. (“Avengers: Age of Ultron,” Marvel’s “Iron Man 3”) as Tony Stark/Iron Man, Scarlett Johansson (“Avengers: Age of Ultron,” “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”) as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow, Sebastian Stan (“Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” “Captain America: The First Avenger”) as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie (“Avengers: Age of Ultron,” “Captain America: The Winter Soldier”) as Sam Wilson/Falcon, Paul Bettany (“Avengers: Age of Ultron,” “Iron Man 3”) as The Vision, Jeremy Renner (“Avengers: Age of Ultron,” Marvel’s “The Avengers”) as Clint Barton/Hawkeye, Don Cheadle (“Avengers: Age of Ultron,” “Iron Man 3”) as Jim Rhodes/War Machine and Elizabeth Olsen (“Avengers: Age of Ultron,” “Godzilla”) as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch.

After his debut in Marvel’s “Ant-Man” on July 17, 2015, Paul Rudd (“Ant-Man,” ”Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues”) will make his first appearance alongside the Avengers as Scott Lang/Ant-Man in “Captain America: Civil War.”

The film also includes outstanding additional cast, including Chadwick Boseman (“42,” “Get on Up”) as T’Challa/Black Panther, Emily VanCamp (“Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” “Revenge”) as Sharon Carter/Agent 13, Daniel Brühl (“Inglourious Basterds,” “Bourne Ultimatum”), Frank Grillo (“Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” “Warrior”) as Brock Rumlow/Crossbones, William Hurt (“A History of Violence,” Marvel’s “The Incredible Hulk”) as General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross and Martin Freeman (“The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies”).

“Captain America: Civil War” picks up where “Avengers: Age of Ultron” left off, as Steve Rogers leads the new team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. After another international incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability and a governing body to determine when to enlist the services of the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers while they try to protect the world from a new and nefarious villain.

Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” is produced by Marvel Studios’ president, Kevin Feige, with Louis D’Esposito, Alan Fine, Victoria Alonso, Patricia Whitcher, Nate Moore and Stan Lee serving as executive producers.

Directors Joe and Anthony Russo’s creative team also includes director of photography Trent Opaloch (“Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” “Elysium”), production designer Owen Paterson (“Godzilla,” “Matrix”), and three time Oscar®-nominated costume designer Judianna Makovsky (“Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone”).

Based on the Marvel comic character first published in 1941, “Captain America: Civil War ” continues the lineage of epic big-screen adventures chronicled in  “Iron Man,” “The Incredible Hulk,” “Iron Man 2,” “Thor,” “Captain America: The First Avenger,” “The Avengers,” “Iron Man 3,” “Thor: The Dark World,” “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” “Guardians of the Galaxy,” “Avengers: Age of Ultron” and the upcoming release schedule, which includes Marvel’s “Ant-Man” on July 17, 2015, Marvel’s “Doctor Strange,” on November 4, 2016, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy 2,” on May 5, 2017, and Marvel’s “Thor: Ragnarok,” on November 3, 2017.

Marvel Studios most recently continued its unprecedented success with the release of “Avengers: Age of Ultron” on May 1, 2015. The film recorded the second biggest opening weekend of all time with a $191.3 million box office. It has also been the #1 release in every country where it has been released.

As they build their prized collections, they also collect adventures—and little lessons about friendship and family, too. Nine-year-old Maggie can’t wait to go camping with her grandparents and her friends from the Shopkins Kids Club. The five girls sit around the campfire, making s’mores, singing songs, and trading Shopkins. Everything is perfect, except for Maggie’s annoying little brother, Max, who’s being a huge pain. But when Maggie’s prized Marsha Mellow goes missing, the campout heads downhill fast. Maggie suspects that one of her friends might be the culprit: envious Ava has been eying up her Marsha Mellow all night! Can Maggie find Marsha Mellow—and find a way to salvage her friendships and her campout? As Maggie follows the clues to find the missing Marsha Mellow, she learns lessons about taking care of your things, not judging others too quickly, apologizing when you need to, and, most of all, inclusion: inviting others to join in instead of keeping them out. More members in the Shopkins Kids Club just means more fun! Join Maggie and the Shopkins Kids Club in this brand-new story for Shopkins collectors!

Thoughts:

My 9 year old niece loves this book. I gave it to her for her birthday and she flipped out. She loves Shopkins so I knew this was right up her alley. She read it in just two days – and then reread it! She told me she plans to share this with all of her friends.

By Nick Courage
Ages 9 to 12

Synopsis:

Following a series of natural disasters, dubbed the Tragedies, the citizens of an unnamed coastal city have been confined to the Green Zone, the final habitable neighborhood. Since the Tragedies, Henry Long’s existence has been reduced to an annoying low-watt buzz from his makeshift heart transplant and a dusty library attic from which he charts the slow progress of reconstruction in the Green Zone. While his parents work on making the Green Zone independent from a federal government that appears to have abandoned them, Henry finds himself increasingly left on his own—that is, until he discovers a refugee artists’ colony called the Other Side. But when the federales don’t take kindly to the Green Zone’s attempts at secession and kidnap Henry’s parents, Henry and his new renegade friends are forced from the colorful streets and underground rock clubs of the Other Side to an overcrowded capital city on the verge of collapse. As Henry uncovers more about the conflicting forces that run his corner of the world, he realizes that not everyone is who they seem to be—himself included—and recognizes that his artificial heart may turn out to be more of a blessing than a curse.

Thoughts:

This book is a great read. I found it very interesting and I couldn’t put it down. I really enjoy books that discuss tragedies and war so this was right up my alley. I great summer read for anyone ages 9 and up, in my opinion.

Ages 12+

Synopsis:

Forgotten Girl, a fifteen-year-old poet, is going through the most difficult time of her life—the breakup of her parents, and her mom’s resulting depression—when she meets Random Boy, a hot guy who, like her, feels like an outcast and secretly writes poetry to deal with everything going on in his life. In The Lost Marble Notebook of Forgotten Girl & Random Boy, the couple’s poems come together to tell their unique love story. The two nameless teenagers come from opposite sides of the tracks, yet they find understanding in each other when they lay bare their life stories through the poetry they write and share with each other. Through verse, they document the power of first kisses, the joy of finally having someone on their side, the devastation of jealousy, and the heartbreaking sadness of what each of them is simultaneously dealing with at home and hiding from the world. Finally they have someone to tell and somewhere to tell it in their marble notebook. This is the powerful story of two imperfect teens in first love who find solace in poetry.

Thoughts:

I really enjoyed this book. The poetry and the raw emotion is just incredible. I think this would be a great summer read for any teenager.

Maya the Bee Movie

mayathebeemovie

My daughters love to watch movies in the car while we are on long trips. We also love to watch movies on rainy days when we cannot play outside. For about the past year, they have been really in to insects and bees (they do not get that from their mama, trust me). My 3.5 year old especially has been fascinated with pollination and how bees make honey. So when she saw Maya the Bee Movie show up at our house, we had to watch it that day. I must say, this movie is really cute! The girls and I loved it so much that we picked it for our family night movie this week – and my husband loved it as well! It is a very cute movie about believing in yourself and others – even if you have to break the rules a little bit.

Synopsis:

Freshly hatched bee Maya is a little whirlwind and simply won’t follow the rules of the hive. One of these rules, of course, is not to trust other bugs, especially the hornets that live beyond the meadow. But sweet Maya can’t help but make friends with all kinds of other bugs, including a violin-playing grasshopper, a dung beetle and even a young hornet named Sting. When the Royal Jelly is stolen, the hornets are the prime suspects and Maya is thought to be their accomplice. Now, it’s up to Maya and all of her new friends to prove her innocence and find the missing Royal Jelly!

One of the best-known and beloved children’s brands of all-time, the stories of Maya The Bee have been passed down among generations of families for years. Originally a German children’s novel by Waldemar Bonsels, The Adventures of Maya the Bee was published over a hundred years ago in 1912. Since the original publishing, the book has been translated into many other languages and enjoyed by children all over the world. In addition to the book, Maya The Bee is also a comic book series, appeared in various iterations as animated series and now a major animated feature film.

Maya the Bee Movie will be available to purchase on May 19th, 2015. You will be able to purchase it as a Blu-ray/DVD combo pack or just a DVD. Shout! Factory has many other great movies for kids and adults, so be sure to browse their entire selection while you are there.
