The Beauty And The Beast Teaser Poster is Gorgeous

Hey everyone, while I was out of town in Canada (if you are following me on Instagram and Snapchat, you saw some awesome photos!), the Beauty and the Beast teaser poster was released. I did share it quickly on social media, but wanted to post it here too for those of you that missed out. I am sure that by now most of you have seen it – but it is totally worth checking out again. It is gorgeous! The detail – the ice, the rose, the towers in the background, even the lettering – it all makes me so much more excited for this film than I already was (if that is even possible). Belle is still my favorite Princess, ever since I first saw the movie when I was a little girl. I know this stellar cast will do justice to my favorite characters and I just cannot wait until next March!

Synopsis
From acclaimed writer/director Jeff Nichols, Loving celebrates the real-life courage and commitment of an interracial couple, Richard and Mildred Loving (portrayed by Joel Edgerton and Ruth Negga), who married and then spent the next nine years fighting for the right to live as a family in their hometown. Their civil rights case, Loving v. Virginia, went all the way to the Supreme Court, which in 1967 reaffirmed the very foundation of the right to marry – and their love story has become an inspiration to couples ever since.

Loving will open in theaters in select cities on November 4, and will expand across the country later in November.

I am really looking forward to seeing Disney’s Queen of Katwe when it comes out in September. When I was at the D23 Expo last summer, I got a sneak peak and wow – it looks incredible. It is sure to be touching, heartwarming, and an all around great movie. A new featurette is available now, and watching it made me even more excited for this film’s release.

About Queen of Katwe
“Queen of Katwe” is the colorful true story of a young girl selling corn on the streets of rural Uganda whose world rapidly changes when she is introduced to the game of chess, and, as a result of the support she receives from her family and community, is instilled with the confidence and determination she needs to pursue her dream of becoming an international chess champion. Directed by Mira Nair (“Monsoon Wedding”) from a screenplay by William Wheeler (“The Hoax”) based on the book by Tim Crothers, “Queen of Katwe” is produced by Lydia Dean Pilcher (“The Darjeeling Limited”) and John Carls (“Where the Wild Things Are”) with Will Weiske and Troy Buder serving as executive producers. The film stars Golden Globe nominee David Oyelowo (“Selma”), Oscar winner and Tony Award nominee Lupita Nyong’o (“12 Years a Slave”) and newcomer Madina Nalwanga.

For 10-year-old Phiona Mutesi (Nalwanga) and her family, life in the impoverished slum of Katwe in Kampala, Uganda, is a constant struggle. Her mother, Harriet (Nyong’o), is fiercely determined to take care of her family and works tirelessly selling vegetables in the market to make sure her children are fed and have a roof over their heads. When Phiona meets Robert Katende (Oyelowo), a soccer player turned missionary who teaches local children chess, she is captivated. Chess requires a good deal of concentration, strategic thinking and risk taking, all skills which are applicable in everyday life, and Katende hopes to empower youth with the game. Phiona is impressed by the intelligence and wit the game requires and immediately shows potential. Recognizing Phiona’s natural aptitude for chess and the fighting spirit she’s inherited from her mother, Katende begins to mentor her, but Harriet is reluctant to provide any encouragement, not wanting to see her daughter disappointed. As Phiona begins to succeed in local chess competitions, Katende teaches her to read and write in order to pursue schooling. She quickly advances through the ranks in tournaments, but breaks away from her family to focus on her own life. Her mother eventually realizes that Phiona has a chance to excel and teams up with Katende to help her fulfill her extraordinary potential, escape a life of poverty and save her family. Disney’s “Queen of Katwe” will open in U.S. theaters on September 23, 2016.

My girls are huge fans of the Ice Age series from 20th Century Fox. OK, I totally am too. We have all of the movies so far and we watch them at least once a month. I love Scrat – I mean, who doesn’t? I just want the poor guy to get to eat an acorn for once! The rest of the characters (and cast) are pretty amazing too. We have all been dying to see Ice Age: Collision Course since we saw the first trailer. It looks just as good as the others – adorable, funny, and entertaining for the whole family. It hits theaters everywhere July 22nd – and I can all but guarantee we will be at the theater to watch it opening weekend!

My family loves Adventure Time! It is one of the few cartoons that we can all watch together and fully enjoy. My husband and I have been watching it (and reading the comics) since it came out. The story line is incredible. This is the type of cartoon that is great for parents as well as kids, because there is so much to connect throughout the episodes and seasons – and kids just enjoy it because it is cute and funny.

My husband and I have many theories about Simon (the Ice King) and what is going to happen – but I don’t want to give anything away if you have not watched it all yet. We were all thrilled that a new DVD is here – and that is is focused on one of our favorite parts of Adventure Time – Card Wars!

ADVENTURE TIME: CARD WARS hits DVD today (July 12th) with a selection of fantastic and fun stores featuring your two favorite heroes Finn and Jake! OK, I will admit it – I watched Power Rangers growing up. I was a huge fan and watched it religiously. So when I had my own kids and realized that Power Rangers were back, you bet we tuned in. PBS KIDS’ popular DINOSAUR TRAIN series from The Jim Henson Company is releasing a new DVD – Dinosaur Train: Under the Volcano! My girls and I love this show. We are always learning new facts about dinosaurs – even me! Because of this show my daughters are really interested in dinosaurs and how they lived. After an episode, they are asking questions and wanting to look up videos of the certain dinosaurs that were featured. We enjoy going to the Dinosaur Train website and playing the games and learning more and more about these creatures. Of course, we are very excited about this new DVD and watched it several times through after it arrived. All of the episodes on it are great episodes – definitely favorites of ours!

Under the Volcano will be available on DVD July 12, 2016.

Synopsis
Join Buddy and his family as they watch the mighty volcano, Old Smoky, erupt! In this DVD featuring dino-mite adventures, learn all about lava and geysers, see what happens when Mr. Pteranodon and Larry Lambeosaurus get stuck in a mud pit, and get inspired to make nature art when Buddy, Tiny, Shiny, and Don find ways to use a pile of leaves, petals, wood, and shells from the family nest. Purchase here.

“Under the Volcano”
Buddy, Tiny, and Dad take the Dinosaur Train to see Old Smoky, the local volcano. It’s such a spectacular sight that they go back for the rest of the family, only to discover they’ve already gone to see the volcano! The merry mix-up concludes as the whole family meets up just in time to catch Old Smoky erupting.

“Old Reliable”
Mr. Pteranodon and Mr. Lambeosaurus take all the kids to see a field of geysers – holes in the ground that hot water shoots out from! At the same time, Mrs. Pteranodon and Mrs. Lambeosaurus are relaxing nearby in soothing pools of warm water, called hot springs. In the end, the kids love seeing the geysers and then joining the Moms in their hot springs, while accidentally surprising Mr. Conductor who is secretly trying to relax in his own private hot spring pool!

“Nature Art”
Mrs. Pteranodon cleans out the clutter from the family nest and the kids are amazed at the pile of stuff – leaves, flower petals, pieces of wood, and shells. Tiny stops Mom from throwing out all the stuff, determined that she and Buddy, Shiny, and Don will find a use for it all. And, they do – the Pteranodon kids have fun making nature art on the beach using the items from the nest!

“The Big Mud Pit”
There’s big trouble at the Big Pond when Larry Lambeosaurus gets stuck in a mud pit, and then Dad tries to get Larry out, and ends up getting stuck himself. Buddy and Leroy Lambeosaurus have to think quickly to pull their dads out before some big meat-eater finds them!

“Derek the Deinonychus”
Buddy, Tiny, and Mom visit a family of Deinonychus dinosaurs with large, sharp toe-claws. They meet a kid named Derek who uses his toe-claws to not only hunt with but to carve great art!

“Triceratops for Lunch”
Our Pteranodon family eats lunch with their friend Tank Triceratops and discovers that he and his family are all plant-eaters, with great leaf-eating teeth and giant appetites!

“The Forest Fire”
When a forest fire comes to woods not far from the family nest at Pteranodon Terrace, the family takes the Dinosaur Train to visit a nearby area where a fire has already been. The Conductor leads the kids on a Nature Tracker hike through the woods to see how new life is growing back – even after the forest fire’s devastation.

“Sunrise, Sunset”
Dad takes the Pteranodon kids on an overnight camping trip where they watch both a sunrise and sunset, learning that the sun rises in the east and sets in the west. The kids also find out more about nocturnal (night-active) animals, and diurnal (day-active) animals.

The five-time Emmy-nominated DINOSAUR TRAIN, created by Craig Bartlett (“Hey Arnold!”), is set in a whimsically realistic, prehistoric world of jungles, swamps, active volcanoes and oceans. Each day, DINOSAUR TRAIN helps kids ages 3 to 6 to apply scientific thinking as they discover new types of dinosaur species, compare and contrast dinosaurs to today’s creatures and embrace the living sciences of paleontology and natural science. DINOSAUR TRAIN airs weekdays on PBS KIDS (check local listings).

I am a huge gamer – and a giant fan of Disney Infinity. When the news broke that Disney Interactive would stop making Disney Infinity Play Sets and Figures, my heart broke a little. This is a game that I have enjoyed playing with my entire family. It is fun because we can all choose which of our favorite Disney characters we want to play and have some quality time together. Whether we play in the toy box, or play through one of the sets, we always have a good time. This is a game that my 5 and 3 year old have played together just the two of them – and I have been a proud mom to witness it. All good things must come to an end, but at least we got a Finding Dory play set out of it all. This is the last one, but it is worth picking up. I do wish there was a Hank figure to go along with it – but we got Nemo and Dory so I’ll take it!

After hearing about an unexpected flood at the Marine Life Institute, Dory, Nemo, Marlin, and friends rush to the aid of the lost fish to help them find their way to safety before the tanks are drained.

This play set is a lot of fun. Myself and my 5 year old daughter have already spent hours playing it. She tells me it is her favorite right now (but that might be because we just went and saw the movie). I have to admit, that this is one of the funnest play sets. I think it might be because I know it is the last one, I am trying to enjoy it as much as I can. Being a huge Marvel fan, I think Marvel Battlegrounds is still a top one for me.

I love the details in the Nemo and Dory figures. Nemo’s lucky fin is done perfectly. These figures are great – and my daughters really love them! I have seen them sneaking them out of our Disney Infinity case and taking them in to their rooms to play (and I am totally OK with that).
