Cartoon Saloon’s Wolfwalkers is a beautifully done hand drawn animated film, and in this article I am going to tell you how to draw the two main characters, Robyn & Mebh.
Wolfwalkers is a truly magical and incredible film that will teach you to be yourself and appreciate nature. The two main characters, Mebh and Robyn, find an unbreakable friendship even though they come from different backgrounds.
I was lucky enough to speak with several of the filmmakers and animators for this film, and in the session, we learned how to draw Wolfwalkers main characters, Mebh and Robyn! In this article I will pass those instructions on to you so that you can take a shot at it!

I hope you had fun learning how to draw Mebh and Robyn! You might notice that Mehb is all circles and curvy lines while Robyn is all squares and rectangles. Fun Facts About Wolfwalkers
In the original version of the story, Robyn was going to be a little boy. This was changed because in that time, a young boy would have had no pushback when wanting to be a hunter. They also felt the dynamic between the two children was better if they were both girls, and Robyn could see herself in Mebh more that way.
A lot of the people that work at the studio are drawn into Wolfwalkers. Not everyone, but a lot can be found in the background of certain scenes — look for them!
In the credits there is a list of “wolf consultants” — these are the dogs of studio employees that worked on the film.
If the filmmakers were wolfwalkers, some of the things they would do as a wolf are run as fast as they can, roll around in the grass, and howl at the moon!
Mebh’s second name, Og MacTire, translates to “young wolf” and Robyn Goodfellow is named after Robin Goodfellow from A Midsummer’s Night Dream.

About Wolfwalkers
In a time of superstition and magic, when wolves are seen as demonic and nature an evil to be tamed, a young apprentice hunter, Robyn, comes to Ireland with her father to wipe out the last pack. But when Robyn saves a wild native girl, Mebh, their friendship leads her to discover the world of the Wolfwalkers and transform her into the very thing her father is tasked to destroy.
