Steven Spielberg’s Disclosure Day is a cinematic triumph that redefines humanity. It boasts an incredible cast, brilliant storytelling, and an ending that will leave the world shook.

To no one’s surprise, Steven Spielberg has done it again. Standing at the intersection of high-concept sci-fi and deeply intimate human drama, Disclosure Day is a brilliant triumph that will leave audiences breathless by the time the credits roll. It is the kind of cinema that feels both inevitable and impossible – a massive technical achievement that never loses sight of the beating heart at its center.

You might think you know what this movie is about by watching the trailers. The marketing leans heavily into the terrifying, exhilarating reality of finding out we aren’t alone. But I promise you, those two-minute clips are just a glimpse of what this amazing cast and incredible story are going to give you.

First things first, the score by John Williams is phenomenal. It is sweeping, operatic, and haunting, elevating every single scene where it is featured. However, what struck me most was Spielberg’s restraint. There are stretches of absolute silence that perfectly serve the tension and the specific emotion of the moment. In those quiet pockets, the film forces you to sit with the weight of the revelation, making the eventual way the score creeps back in feel earned.

The entire cast delivers career-best performances here. Josh O’Connor and Colin Firth’s dynamic is something completely unexpected. They both add a layer of intellectual and emotional excitement that anchors the film.

You have never seen Emily Blunt like this, and we all know what an incredible actor she is. She nails this performance in a way that will have audiences instantly connecting with her. Throw in a scene-stealing performance by Colman Domingo, and you have an ensemble that can’t go wrong.
Disclosure Day is a deep dive into humanity and morals. It causes everyone watching to wonder exactly what they would do if the sky opened up and the mystery vanished. There is something truly haunting and thought-provoking about what these characters are going through. As everything slowly unravels, and more and more is revealed, audiences will be completely sucked in.

Everything about this film is perfect. I would be remiss if I did not throw in that the visuals are stunning and the cinematography is top-notch.
At a two-and-a-half-hour runtime, it’s a long one, but it never feels overly long. I genuinely do not know what they would have cut to make this a tighter film. Every beat feels essential to the world-building. It is great the way it is. I never once looked at my watch or checked the time, and honestly, as things were wrapping up, I hadn’t realized the runtime had already almost gone by. The pacing is so deliberate that you become submerged in the atmosphere.

Disclosure Day brilliantly touches on religion, humanity, and morality. It almost feels like a spiritual sequel to Close Encounters, in a way. There is a lot that this movie can teach us if we just let it. There are some great comedic moments, as well as some incredible action sequences, but overall, it is the powerful message that makes this one of Spielberg’s best.
I am honestly afraid to say too much, and to give too much away, because Disclosure Day is more of an experience than anything else. That said, no spoilers, but the end of this movie is something truly special. It is a bold, emotional choice that delivers something far more profound than I anticipated going in.
Audiences around the world will surely be sitting in silence as the lights come up, wiping away tears as they soak it all in. This is why we go to the movies. See this one in theaters on the biggest screen possible. You don’t want to miss it.
