As I am sure many of you know by now, I am a HUGE Marvel fanatic. I collect the comic books, I collect the toys, I collect the movies – and I even have a few Marvel related tattoos. So I was thrilled to hear today that Sony Music announced the release of SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) featuring the music of Grammy® and Academy Award®-winning composer Michael Giacchino. The soundtrack will be released on July 7 and is available for pre-order now.
I have loved all of the past Spider-Man movies (he is one of my favorite Marvel characters) but I am really excited about this one. I thought Tom Holland was incredible in Captain America: Civil War, and though we did not see him much there, I think we are in for a real treat! He seems like an incredibly talented young man and I cannot wait to see where he takes Peter. Just looking at the tracklist this morning gave me goosebumps! This film is sure to be incredible. I will be there opening night, that is for sure!
About Spider-Man: Homecoming
A young Peter Parker/Spider-Man (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.
About the Composer
Composer Michael Giacchino has credits that feature some of the most popular and acclaimed film projects in recent history, including Inside Out, Jurassic World, The Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, The Incredibles, Ratatouille and Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. Giacchino’s 2009 score for the Pixar hit Up earned him an Oscar®, a Golden Globe®, the BAFTA, the Broadcast Film Critics’ Choice Award and two Grammy® Awards.
Last year, Giacchino’s music could be heard in Zootopia, Star Trek Beyond, Dr. Strange, and Rogue One which marked the first score to be composed for a Star Wars film following John Williams. In addition to Spider-Man: Homecoming, Giacchino’s projects for 2017 include War for the Planet of the Apes and The Book of Henry. Giacchino serves as the Governor of the Music Branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and sits on the advisory board of “Education Through Music Los Angeles”.
