Unhinged is an intense thriller from beginning to end that highlights just how dangerous road rage can be. You never know who you are driving next to.

One of my favorite genres of movies is thriller because I enjoy being a little bit scared and on the edge of my seat. So of course I was excited to check out Unhinged. Honestly, I did not expect to be as worked up by this movie as I was. I think what really made me terrified during this film is the fact that it could happen in real life. To anyone. At any moment.

The very first scene of this movie sucked me in. I don’t want to give it away because I think everyone should experience it for what it is – terrifying yet realistic. After the title sequence there is a little break as viewers get to know Rachel before the rest of the movie is more intense than you can ever imagine.

Rachel is going through a divorce and she has a son who is about 12 years old. She is taking him to school but they end up on the freeway and stuck in traffic. Her son is upset because he is going to be later for the third time and will get detention. It seems like this is a reoccurring thing with her. Her life is a mess and she is always late.

When she finally gets off the freeway she gets stuck at a light. The truck in front of her does not move once the light turns green so she honks. And honks. Sure, she is under a lot of stress but she is very aggressive. The truck pulls up alongside her and the man apologizes. He asks her to apologize in return and she refuses.

Trust me when I say she will regret this. What happens next is something that is relevant and could totally happen in real life. The man decides to make her day a heck of a lot worse than it already was. This includes following her, stealing her phone, finding her friends and family and… well… a lot of violence.

I guess the moral of the story is you never know who you are driving next to, or behind, and you should always err on the side of caution. Had Rachel just smiled and apologized, her day would have gone a lot differently.

    Overall Thoughts

Unhinged is one of those movies where you will be on the edge of your seat and your heart will be pounding. It is almost non-stop action and although a tad predictable, it is well worth the watch. There were many moments where my jaw literally dropped and I covered my face.

Russell Crowe does an amazing job as a man that has absolutely nothing to live for. He is, quite literally, unhinged. This movie shows why he is an Academy Award winner. The look in his eyes — they were so empty and filled with rage at the same time. Just a stellar performance.

I think the main reason Unhinged is so intense from beginning to end is because it is something that could actually happen in real life. You know what? I don’t think I will ever honk at someone again in my entire life thanks to Unhinged.

    About Unhinged

Academy Award winner Russell Crowe stars in Unhinged, a timely psychological thriller that explores the fragile balance of a society pushed to the edge, taking something we’ve all experienced- road rage – to an unpredictable and terrifying conclusion.

Rachel (Caren Pistorius) is running late to work when she has an altercation at a traffic light with a stranger (Crowe) whose life has left him feeling powerless and invisible. Soon, Rachel finds herself and everyone she loves the target of a man who decides to make one last mark upon the world by teaching her a series of deadly lessons.

What follows is a dangerous game of cat and mouse that proves you never know just how close you are to someone who is about to become unhinged.

Harsh, violent and dynamic thriller “Unhinged” is ready to please everyone who missed for the intriguing films. Literally from the first minutes, authors plunge the viewer into an atmosphere of approaching horror, revealing in all details physical and psychological essence of the main antagonist. He is the driving force behind the development of the plot, as he constantly provokes, motivates and controls his victim in the direction he needs, like a cat playing with a defenseless mouse. Creators are trying to convey to the viewer an important problem of modern society associated with the groundless aggression and ill-mannered rudeness of ordinary people towards each other, whether it’s on the road, in a store or just on the street.

The final fight was supposed to be as spectacular as possible and even a little lengthy, like in “Halloween” with the unkillable Michael Myers. But here everything turned out pretty quickly, concisely and without the necessary long-lasting aftertaste. But in any case, the film turned out to be excellent in the best traditions of a thriller film.

Thanks for your excellent as always review!
