Thank you to Disney & ABC for sending me out to LA for the Ralph Breaks the Internet Event! All opinions expressed are 100% my own.

Single Parents is easily one of the funniest new shows on television. From the first episode, I was totally hooked! The fact that they have an amazing ensemble of main cast members certainly helps. While in LA recently, I was so excited to have the opportunity to check out the Single Parents set, and get a tour from the executive producer Jason Winer and actor Jake Choi (who plays Miggy Park). It was so cool to be on the set of a show I watch religiously!

Stories from the Set
You know I immediately had to ask Jason about Pickles. If you have not been watching this show (first of all shame on you!), there is an episode where Pickles the Guinea Pig dies. I am an animal lover and just had to make sure that he was OK. I learned that while yes, the actor who portrays Pickles is alive and well, the fate of the Guinea Pig who this story was based on is not. Yep. A child really stepped on a Guinea Pig and killed him. How sad! This did make for a great episode though, so is it horrible to say I am glad it happened? Yea, it is. I take that back…maybe.

Something we learned on the set of Single Parents is just how much things have to moved around. Certain sets are used for several different things. For example, Poppy’s house is also Miggy’s house. This actually makes sense since they live in the same apartment building.

Meeting the Cast
While touring the set of the school playground area, the main cast members all came out for a photo opportunity with us! Brad Garrett, who plays Douglas Fogerty, was one of the first, and we discussed his role as Eeyore in Ralph Breaks The Internet. He has a very small, Easter Egg role (that we do see in the trailer). But it was super fun to chat with him briefly about it.

When Taran Killam, who stars as Will Cooper, walked in, I am pretty sure I screamed out loud. I tried really hard not to, but I just could not help it. I’m a HUGE Saturday Night Live fan and think he is (and always will be) one of the best cast members. I had a moment to chat with him about SNL, and Pickles, and his chemistry with Tyler Wladis, who plays Graham D’Amato, so my life is complete now. Between that and meeting Nathan Fillion just hours before, I can die happy.

Photos of the Set
There were so many amazing things to check out on the set of Single Parents. Including lots of small details. We learned that Angie D’Amato’s home, who is played by Leighton Meester, is messy and cluttered on purpose. She is a very busy single mom, and that is likely how her life and home would be. Every little thing on set is done with a purpose.

Something I found super interesting is that the Fogerty home needs to have a ceiling for a very specific reason. With a lot of sets, a ceiling is never built. But Brad Garrett is so tall, that one needed to be one the set of his character’s house.

Classroom and School Photos

The Winebrary
Some of my favorite scenes take place in the Winebrary. Man, I wish we had one near me – I would practically live there! I mentioned the hilarious episode where Miggy cannot use a wine bottle opener to Jake while we were on set, and he let me know he actually used to be a bartender and that he never used that kind of opener. Fun fact, I am the WORST at using those openers too. For some reason I have a really hard time with them.

Tonight’s Episode
