As you probably know, we play a lot of video games in our family. My daughters are pretty young – only 4 and 6 years old. Because of this we need to really pay attention to video game ratings. We know that there are many benefits to gaming for kids and thanks to GameStop and UpNorthLive, we were given some great tips on age appropriate gaming. Sometimes my husband and I forget just how young they are while selecting video games as gifts for the girls.
My girls love a good Halloween party. Halloween has always been a favorite holiday in our house. There is nothing like doing some fun Halloween crafts, watching a spooky movie, and eating yummy Halloween treats! The weather is getting cooler and the leaves outside are changing. It is one of my favorite times of year! I wanted to share with you some fun, simple, and inexpensive ways that your family can celebrate Halloween, just like mine does!
Not too long ago Disney Vacation Club invited us to come check out their latest resort – Copper Creek. It is located at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge – where the DVC also has Boulder Ridge Villas. Of course, we jumped at the chance. We just purchased DVC at the Polynesian this past February and have been talking about adding on points at Copper Creek. Well, I can stay after our visit here, we will likely be doing so in the next couple of years. The sooner the better I say – I cannot wait to go back!
You may already know that we are Disney Vacation Club members. We joined on our Disney Cruise in February 2017 – and I have no idea why we didn’t do it sooner. We vacation at Disney World at least twice a year, if not more. When you are 180 days out from your trip, you can make your dining reservations. There are several that we strive to get – and one of those is dinner at Be Our Guest. This is arguably one of the hardest reservations to make, and should always be this first one you shoot for. TIP: Try to book it for one of your last days vs. one of your first days for a better shot at it.
My husband is a HUGE Kingdom Hearts fan. In fact, he is currently in the process of getting a Kingdom Hearts tattoo on his arm – and it is pretty fantastic. When we found out that GameStop was creating an EXCLUSIVE Kingdom Hearts Funko POP box, well, we were pretty darn excited. I have quite the Funko POP collection – OK, I will admit it, I am addicted to them. And my husband “lets me” keep his in my office, so I was all for him getting this box.
My husband is super talented when it comes to crafty things. He creates a lot of the DIY stuff here at Mama’s Geeky, including my daughters’ Star Vs. The Forces of Evil Halloween costumes! These cosplay outfits came out so good that we had talked about getting some professional photos taken. As if by magic, shortly after I received an offer to work with one of my favorite studios again – Portrait Innovations.
I have always loved playing video games – ever since I was a young girl and got my first Nintendo system. I enjoy all types of games, but some of my favorites have always been the LEGO games. These games can occupy me for literal hours on end. We own quite the collection of them – Harry Potter, Marvel Super Heroes, Dimensions, and now we have added the LEGO Ninjago Movie! I was super excited to see this show up in the mail because I just knew I would love it!
My husband and I totally lucked out and pre-ordered Hatchimals last year as soon as we heard about them. We had a feeling they were going to be one of the hottest toys for Christmas – and we were right! When they arrived at our house, our daughters went crazy. At the time, they were 3 and 5, and had said they found their best friends for life. We had a blast unboxing them and my girls have played with them nearly every day since. So when we heard that Spin Master had something up their sleeve for this holiday season – we just couldn’t wait to hear more.
Something that I have always wanted to do while visiting Walt Disney World is attend a fireworks dessert party. In fact, we almost bought tickets to one during the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party this year. So imagine how excited we were to see a dessert party on our itinerary for our Copper Creek press event! I told my daughters right away and they started jumping up and down talking about all of the desserts they were going to eat. Honestly, I was more excited for the prime viewing spot for the Happily Ever After fireworks – but of course, the desserts were a great perk!
