I love movies that I can enjoy with my young daughters. One of our favorite things to do as a family is go to the movies. I just sat down and watched the trailer for Zootopia – the latest Disney Animation project – and we all got extremely excited. This movie looks like it will be hilarious. And since it is from the creators of Frozen and Big Hero 6, we all know it will be a hit! My (almost) 4 year old has already asked me to replay the trailer at least 10 times. Zootopia is “like nothing you’ve seen be-fur” and I cannot wait until it comes out, March 4, 2016!
Movie Story:
The modern mammal metropolis of Zootopia is a city like no other. Comprised of habitat neighborhoods like ritzy Sahara Square and frigid Tundratown, it’s a melting pot where animals from every environment live together—a place where no matter what you are, from the biggest elephant to the smallest shrew, you can be anything. But when optimistic Officer Judy Hopps (voice of Ginnifer Goodwin) arrives, she discovers that being the first bunny on a police force of big, tough animals isn’t so easy. Determined to prove herself, she jumps at the opportunity to crack a case, even if it means partnering with a fast-talking, scam-artist fox, Nick Wilde (voice of Jason Bateman), to solve the mystery. Emotions were running high at the screening of Last Days Of Summer. Personally, I have watched every episode of Phineas and Ferb that has aired over the last 8 years. It is (was) one of the best shows on television – perfect for families of all ages to watch together. I feel so blessed that I got the chance to watch Last Day of Summer, the special one hour Phineas and Ferb finale, before it’s air date of June 12th (TOMORROW at 9pm EST) and then sit down with the ridiculously talented creators of the show – Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh. (Who, by the way, voice Doofenshmirtz and Monogram on the show as well.)

Last Day of Summer is the perfect ending to the ride that Phineas and Ferb have taken us on over their summer. It is Candace’s last day to bust the boys, and she will do whatever it takes. This special episode is filled with catchy songs, great banter, and of course, some epic Doofenshmirtz and Agent P fights. I do not want to give anything away, but the final song has shout outs to many of the previous episodes – and I cried, oh did I cry. After I finally composed myself, Dan and Swampy started their chat, and they cried, and out came my waterworks again. The end of Phineas and Ferb is truly the end of an era. I have laughed with them, cried with them, and just truly enjoyed every moment of this show. I am holding out hope that they will be back “next summer” – or maybe we will even see them in a new element, possibly at school. Swampy says never say never.

If I had to choose my favorite episode, I would go with “It’s About Time” where they fix a time machine at the Danville Museum and end up back in time with the dinosaurs. Dan and Swampy were asked during the interview what their favorite episode was and they had a hard time narrowing it down. Dan said they definitely have a list of favorites, but if they were to pick one, it would be the roller coaster episode because that is one that they did basically just them. They also love “Summer Belongs to You“, the first one hour special, because it is where Isabella is trying to show Phineas how romantic Paris is and Candace and Jeremy decide to become boyfriend and girlfriend. Dan thinks that the last 11 minutes of that special is “the best thing ever.” One thing that I found very interesting was the character that Dan said did not turn out as they expected her to. Candace’s best friend Stacy was planned to be the total opposite of the character she became. We also all joked about how you cannot find “104 days of summer vacation” anywhere in the world – however it is a nice thought.
Swampy and Dan emphasized that they have heard time and time again how Phineas and Ferb has helped fans through tough times like PTSD and chemo with their kid (and we all got choked up again). Each story touches them, and I could tell that just by looking at them as they talked about it. Dan mentioned how sad he gets when he comes up with a great idea for the show and then realizes that he will not be making it a reality. They also talked about how it was very important to them to make a show where none of the children are doing anything wrong or being mean on purpose. If you have seen Phineas and Ferb before you know that the boys are very inventive and they do things that would get them in trouble, however, they do not know it is something that would get them in trouble. And Candace is only trying to bust her brothers because she thinks that is what is fair. Along the same lines, Swampy explained how he feels it is very important that kid’s shows do not “dumb things down”. Meaning that they can use big words and plot lines and children will be able to follow along. In doing this, they created a show that the whole family can watch and enjoy.

After chatting with Dan and Swampy, we went outside for a picnic lunch – and Phineas and Ferb themselves were there! The atmosphere was so laid back, and it was great just chatting with these brilliant men. We took lots of photos and enjoyed our time together. Phineas and Ferb has been a huge part of their lives and I could tell this final episode is very bittersweet for them. Everyone was extremely emotional as we said goodbye to Phineas and Ferb along with their creators.

Phineas and Ferb “Last Day of Summer” Rated TV-G
The summer season is coming to a close and it’s Candace’s last chance to bust her brothers. She is quickly foiled, but is presented with an opportunity to redo the day when she sets off Dr. Doofenshmirtz’s Do-Over-Inator, which results in other consequences like rips in the space-time continuum, the shortening of days and the disappearance of her brothers.

Recently a good friend and her daughter came over for a play date. She brought over a fresh veggie pizza that was so delicious, I could have eaten the entire platter right then. I asked her for the recipe and it is so easy that I just had to pass it on to your guys for a Whip It Up Wednesday post. Enjoy!
Veggie Pizza
Ingredients
2 packages of crescent rolls
½ cup Mayo
½ package of ranch dressing seasoning
1 package of softened cream cheese
Shredded cheese
Veggies (broccoli, shredded carrots, & red peppers)
Directions
Preheat oven to 350
Spread rolls out on a baking pan & bake for 10 minutes or until golden brown
Mix cream cheese, mayo, and seasoning until smooth and creamy
Spread mix over cooled crust and add veggies. Sprinkle cheese on top.

I love Tom Hanks – I mean, come on, who doesn’t? He is an incredible actor who has been in so many amazing films (Forest Gump, Catch Me If You Can, and BIG just to name a few). So when I heard he was going to be in a new DreamWorks movie, Bridge of Spies, I was thrilled! I saw this trailer at the movies with my husband and we both immediately looked at each other and said yup, it’s a date night movie! Like everything Tom Hanks does, this movie looks incredible – and I cannot wait until October to see it!

I love General Mills Cereal and I love Star Wars. So when I found out they teamed up, I was pretty excited. General Mills and Star Wars are offering exclusive vintage movie posters in every specially marked box of General Mills cereals. I love subscription boxes and I love playing games and spending time with my family so that is why Awesome Pack is the perfect box for me. This box is one of my favorites I have ever received because they include the entire family – even pets! As a matter of fact, after you sign up, Awesome Pack sends you a survey to fill out so that they know what you have, what you like, and what you might want. They also want to know ages and genders of any children and pets – so that every member of the family gets something! I love how thoughtful that is. Our box was filled with some awesome (no pun intended) items that are sure to help bring a ton of fun to our summer!
My daughters are (almost) 4 and 2.5 years old as most of you know. I also have a pug that is about to turn 1 ( named Khaleesi). My daughters were most excited about the water blasters. Their cousins have some and they always have to steal them in order to squirt them back – well now they have their own. My girls also each got a book – there was Meet the Mr. Men and Rarity’s Fashion and Style. As soon as they saw them, they asked me to read them. We have had them for just less than a week and we already have both of them memorized. These are great books and perfect for their ages.
Awesome Pack comes with an activity book and pen which has lots of awesome activities in it. This box included some modeling clay and so the activity book featured lots of games and activities to do with it. We all had a lot of fun with this, and will continue to. There was also a frisbee disc included for Khaleesi! She loves it. She is great at fetch and I know we will enjoy playing with this toy all summer.
Every month Awesome Pack has a board game as well. We all love games (you should see the shelf in our game room) so being introduced to new games is always fun for us. We received Catch a Falling Star and it is perfect for our family! It is loads of fun! The idea is to hang “sun rays” from the magnetic star. Some of the sticks are magnetic and some are not. They are also different sizes. Even my 2.5 year old can stack the sticks by herself so we can all enjoy this game to its fullest. I would probably have never found out about this game if it wasn’t for Awesome Pack – one thing I love about subscription boxes!
So it is absolutely no secret that I am a huge Marvel fan (my Twitter handle is MarvelGoddess24 and I have Marvel character tattoos) – so you all know how excited I am about the next Marvel movie that is coming out, Ant-Man. Being an avid comic book reader I can say that I think Paul Rudd was the perfect casting for this part. He is a brilliant actor and I cannot wait to see him as Ant-Man on the big screen (July 17th, 2015)! Well, there is a new TV spot for Ant-Man out and I just had to share it with you guys. I am excited to see how they are going to tie Ant-Man in with the other Marvel characters and I really hope that he ends up in an Avengers movie – perhaps the Dark Avengers story line? Now that my girls are old enough to go to the movies, we take them a lot. It is such a fun family experience and so we try to go at least once a month. We have a list of movies that we plan to go to and we recently added The Good Dinosaur. I can tell, just from watching the minute long trailer, that this is going to be a movie the whole family will enjoy – but honestly, I expect that from Disney/Pixar anyways. They know what it takes to make a movie that everyone will love. This movie is coming out November 25th, 2015 – and you can bet my family will be there opening day!

Inside Out
When I first heard about Inside Out, I was super excited. Not only are some of my favorite Actors/Comedians voicing some of the characters (Bill Hadar, Amy Poehler, Lewis Black, Phyllis Smith, etc…), it looks hilarious! I have always loved cartoons and if it is from Disney/Pixar then even better. They have the best movies. I am such a little kid at heart so I know how much I will love watching this movie. Although, I will not just be watching it – I will be walking the red carpet at the premiere and then writing up a review on the movie for your guys – and of course letting you know all about my red carpet experience! I cannot wait to see this movie on the big screen – and I already know I will be taking my girls to see it when it comes out in theaters June 19th. They have been begging to go and I know they will enjoy it.
Before I walk the red carpet and watch the premiere of Inside Out, I will be attending a “pre-party” and mingling with a long list of incredible celebrities. I admit, I had to take a few deep breaths after seeing the initial list. I am pretty excited about everyone, but the few that stand out to me (besides the stars of Inside Out) are Breckin Meyer (Clueless, Franklin and Bash), Mark Duplass (The League, Togetherness), and Joel McHale (The Soup, Community). Synopsis:

Teen Beach 2
If you have not seen the original Teen Beach Movie, I highly recommend it. It has been on Disney a ton and I have watched it several times with my young girls. They love the singing and dancing – and I am not ashamed to admit that my husband and I actually really got into the story line. I was excited to hear that Teen Beach 2 will be premiering Friday, June 26th at 8:00 p.m., EST on Disney Channel (and available on DVD with never-before-seen dance rehearsal bonus feature). This movie flip flops the story line of the original Teen Beach: when characters from the movie musical “Wet Side Story” get stuck in the real world, teens Brady (Ross Lynch) and Mack (Maia Mitchell) must find a way to return them home. I am going to attend a special screening of Teen Beach 2 and after that – Chrissie Fit (“Pitch Perfect 2”) aka CheeChee and Jordan Fisher (Hollywood Records recording artist) aka Seacat are confirmed to participate in a Q&A and dance lesson. I am not the best dancer so this should be interesting…but I know it will be a blast!
Let me start off by saying how sad I am that Phineas and Ferb is coming to an end. It has been one of my favorite shows for a long time. I started watching it right when it came out – and not just for my daughters. This show is funny, cute, and interesting. I enjoy seeing what crazy inventions Phineas and Ferb will come up with next and I love Agent P and his “battles” with Doofenshmirtz. They always have me laughing. One of my favorite bands growing up was Bowling for Soup so the fact that they sing the intro (which I have memorized) is pretty awesome too. Starting on Tuesday, June 9th at 8:00pm EST there will be a marathon of Phineas and Ferb on Disney XD for 73 hours leading up to “Last Day of Summer” that will air on June 12th at 9:00pm EST. I am really excited to tell you guys that while I am in LA I will have the chance to sit down with the creators of Phineas and Ferb and talk about this great show with them.

Celebrity Family Feud
While I am in LA, I will also be attending a live taping of ABC’s new primetime celebrity version of “Family Feud,” based on one of television’s most popular and enduring game show formats and premiering on Sunday, June 21st at 8 EST on ABC: “Celebrity Family Feud.” The six-episode special series will feature fan-favorite celebrities competing with their families for charity on the famous stage of “Family Feud.” Hosted by the highly popular multi-hyphenate standup comedian, actor, author, deejay and Emmy Award-winning talk show host Steve Harvey, “Celebrity Family Feud” will pit celebrities against each other in a contest to name the most popular responses to a survey-type question posed to 100 people. I cannot wait to see what celebrities will be featured in the episode that I get to see! I loved this show growing up (and still do) so I know this will be a blast!

My daughters and I love Play-Doh. They have so much fun creating things and using their imaginations – and I love to see them learn with it. I have been told by my older daughter’s teacher that cutting Play-Doh is really good for their hand dexterity as well – so we pull it out several times a week. I love watching the wheels in their heads spin as they build with Play-Doh. My daughters love this My Little Pony Play-Doh playset! I wish I had recorded giving this to my daughters because they squealed and started jumping up and down. They were beyond excited! This Rainbow Dash is really cool because you can make her hair grow and then you can can cut and style it. It is really easy to use – my (alsmot) 4 year old had no issues at all. My 2 year old even understood the concept, but couldn’t push down the part that makes her hair grow without some help. The sides of Rainbox Dash are covered with different shapes and cutie marks that you can mold your Play-Doh with as well. I have had a ton of fun with my girls with this playset! As most of you know, I am a huge geek, and I LOVE Marvel! So this Smashdown Hulk Play-Doh set was something I was really looking forward to. When you push down Hulk’s head he smashes with his fists – and they even leave little “smash marks” (as my daughter calls them) on the Play-Doh! The molds on his body are really cool – there is a tank and an airplane – perfect for attacking him with. You can even make bricks to build up a wall that you can make him SMASHDOWN. My husband may have done this numerous times – over and over and over. He comes with an Ironman as well. This is a great toy for anyone who loves Marvel – boys and girls alike! Purchase yours here.
Besides the two sets that I was able to try out, Hasbro has come out with the Play-Doh Marvel Vehicle Pack Assortment and the Paly-Doh Disguise Lab Featuring Despicable Me Minions Playset. These sound like so much fun as well and with my daughter’s birthday coming up – she just may be getting them. We love Marvel COmics in this house – and minions too of course!
