Mare of Easttown is a crime drama show that does a great job of making viewers suspect just about everyone.

Mare of Easttown is a crime drama that will have viewers trying to figure out who the murderer is from the very beginning. It is suspenseful, and filled with twists and turns, however, it is also not without its faults. Some of the episodes of pacing issues, and while the end is indeed satisfying, it becomes fairly obvious at the start of the final episode.
This show follows a small town Pennsylvania detective played by Kate Winslet as she investigates a murder. That is not all that is on her plate however. She is also spending her time trying to hunt down two missing girls, and dealing with the grief from her son’s suicide, all while taking care of her grandson that he left behind.

What Works In Mare of Easttown
There are seven hour long episodes of Mare Of Easttown, and they grow more and more shocking and suspenseful as they go on. What starts off as a simple murder investigation becomes a lot more complicated. That, combined with everything that Mare is personally going through, creates a lot of drama.
The acting is fantastic, with Kate Winslet carrying so much of the show on her shoulders with her incredible performance. The Pennsylvania accents are so perfect, that they are almost laughable at times — but in a good way.
For a crime drama, there is a lot of crime, and a lot of drama. The shocking twists and turns keep the audience interested, and the cliffhangers at the end of each episode do the same.
What Doesn’t Work In Mare of Easttown
The biggest issue with this show is that the pacing of the final episode made it obvious that a big twist was coming, and also made it easy for viewers to figure it out. If the cards had been held just a bit longer, the reveal could have been more effective.

Overall Thoughts
Mare of Easttown is an easy to binge crime drama series, that will have the audience second guessing everything they think they know. The fact that it has a lot more going on than just one murder case, allows for a lot more interesting show, and a better flow of the episodes.
There is also a good amount of comic relief thrown in, to break up the heavy moments of the show. Overall the show is suspenseful and intense, and more than worth watching. Even if the big reveal in the end doesn’t hit as well as planned.
