Hunt For Planet B SXSW 2021 Documentary Review

Hunt For Planet B is a super interesting documentary that will likely really have you thinking about space and our solar system.

I have always been interested in space and the fact that we may not be alone in the universe. That is part of the reason I was really excited to check out the new documentary, Hunt for Planet B, and the SXSW 2021 Film Festival. And I am happy to say that I was not disappointed.

From the very start this documentary sucked me in because they touched on all of the things I was curious about. What are the odds of finding other life out in space and if we do, what type of life will that be? Just bacteria (using “just” very lightly here because that is still huge). Seeing how NASA is workign to try to discover life is beyond interesting. If you are a space nut like me, I highly recommend checking out this film.

Keep in mind though, it also touches on the devastation and destruction of our planet, which can be hard to watch. Our planet is dying, and we need to correct the way we live in order to save it. A lot of this documentary is about finding a new planet and a new home that can keep the human race going in the future. Parts were definitely devastating to watch — but also necessary to watch.

Hunt for Planet B is must watch documentary that will hopefully make some people think harder about the way they are treating the planet. Yes, planet B might be out there, but if we do get that far, let’s learn from our mistakes and not ruin that planet as well.

About Hunt For Planet B

THE HUNT FOR PLANET B captures the human drama behind NASA’s new high-stakes Webb Telescope, the largest and most complex space observatory ever built. The film interweaves the creation of this massive machine with the story of a pioneering group of female scientists who plan to use it in their search for life beyond our solar system.

Now they are on the brink of answering a question that has haunted us for millennia: are we alone in the universe? This is a character-driven documentary in the style of Kahn’s Oscar-nominated My Architect and his Emmy nominated The Price of Everything. This time it coincides with a major news story, with the much-anticipated Webb Telescope finally being launched into space in October. Webb promises to be the space-science event of the decade—and THE HUNT FOR PLANET B tells the gripping human story behind it.
