In episode four of DC’s Stargirl, Wildcat, things really start to get good as Courtney sets out to recruit new members of the Justice Society of America!

In episode four of DC’s Stargirl, Courtney is on the hunt to recruit new members for the Justice Society of America. After we saw her steal some key items from the JSA hideout, and we all knew what that meant. She was ready to find some friends to join her in her battle against the Injustice Society of America (if you missed her crack at this name in episode one, there is another in this one — hilarious!).

This episode of Stargirl started off with addressing something that has me terrified as a mom in this age of technology. A girl in the school sends her boyfriend a topless photo, and it ends up being distributed to the whole school by Cindy, the total mean girl of the school.

The point of this is to show the backstory of Yolanda, and why she is an outcast, but those few minutes really hit me in the mom heart. My girls are still a little young, but to be careful about photos they take is something I plan to really instill in them. I have already started to.

In this episode we really get to know Yolanda, and I have to admit, I fell in love with her by the time we were halfway through the episode. Once Courtney recruits her, and she dons the Wildcat suit, there is a really fun montage where the girls learn about her powers. It is one of my favorite scenes in the whole Stargirl series so far.

Viewers literally see the suit working to help Yolanda with those powers, the same way we have seen the cosmic staff leading Courtney. I think this is a brilliant move by the show, because it makes it obvious to the audience that these are new superheroes. They have a lot to learn still, but we are starting to see them come into their own.

I think Yolanda was the perfect choice for Wildcat. Honestly, I am a big fan of her backstory. I love seeing Courtney and Yolanda bond in this episode, and I look forward to many more of their adventures. Even with them both being so new at this superhero thing, they did a great job of finding out a little bit more about the Injustice Society of America, and who they might have to go after next.

Towards the end of the episode, we get a hint at who is likely going to be recruited to the Justice Society of America next. And if you look at the poster for the series, it helps solidify that guess. I am really looking forward to seeing it all come together in the next episode, and hopefully seeing these three girls team up to kick some super-villain butt!

While we don’t get too much about the villains in this one, we do see Dragon King emerge. And it seems like Icicle is at his beck and call. I am really intrigued by this villain, and excited to see more of him in the future. As for Pat, well he wasn’t in this episode too much either. Except for a few conversations with the Wizard’s widow. And that last scene of DC’s Stargirl episode four — it made me tear up just a tad. This show just keeps getting better and better!

After realizing that she needs the extra help, Courtney sets out to recruit new members to the Justice Society of America – starting with Yolanda Montez (series regular YVETTE MONREAL). Elsewhere, Pat’s suspicion is piqued after a bizarre conversation with one of the town’s residents.

    About DC’s Stargirl

DC’s STARGIRL follows high school sophomore Courtney Whitmore as she inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past. This new drama reimagines Stargirl and the very first superhero team, the Justice Society of America, in an unpredictable series.

The project focuses on the character that started executive producer Geoff Johns’ career as a comic book writer when he created her in 1999, lovingly inspired by his late sister, who was killed in a 1996 plane explosion.

Watch Stargirl on DC Universe on Mondays and on the CW on Tuesdays!
