Five RPG Board Games The Whole Family Will Love

0

Since we are all stuck at home right now it is the perfect time to dive into some new games. These RPG style board games are ones the whole family will love.

rpg games

What do I mean by RPG board games? I mean role playing game style games. Games that are great for families with older kids (or kids that like to get into advanced games). I need to preface this article with the fact that yes my kids are on the young side (7 and 8) and yes most of these games recommend ages 10 or older and up. But that doesn’t stop us from playing as a family.

Some of these games have you competing against each other, but most have you working together. Which is why I love them so much. We game together every Sunday and most of these games take up several hours.

Under each game is a description of the game, but I will also link to my personal review of them. These are at the top of our list right now, but if you have similar ones, please feel free to let me know about them! We are always looking for new games!

gloomhaven

Gloomhaven

Players will take on the role of a wandering adventurer With their own special set of skills and their own reasons for traveling to this dark corner of the world. Players must work together out of necessity to clear out menacing Dungeons and forgotten ruins. In the process, they will enhance their abilities with experience and loot, discover new locations to explore and plunder, and expand an ever-branching story fueled by the decisions they make.

This is a game with a persistent and changing world that is ideally played over many game sessions. After a scenario, players will make decisions on what to do, which will determine how the story continues, kind of like a “choose your own adventure” book.

mansions of madness

Dive into the required app to confront scenarios of fear and mystery, collecting weapons, tools, and information, solving complex puzzles, and fighting monsters, insanity, and Death. Open the door and step inside these hair-raising Mansions of madness second edition. It will take more than just survival to conquer the evils terrorizing this town.

villainous

Disney Villainous

Playing as favorite evil-doers like Maleficent, Ursula, and Captain Hook, players will take on the role of the Disney Villain and plan their schemes methodically in the way of their Disney Villain to reach their objective before everyone else. Set traps, wield curses, leverage your allies, and most importantly, be cunning!

Disney Villainous is a popular board game in the Villainous line, which also includes the expansions Wicked to the Core, Evil Comes Prepared and Perfectly Wretched. Disney fans and game board lovers of all kinds will love the asymmetric gameplay and chance to play as a villain from one of Disney’s classic films. Villainous was the Game of the Year Winner at the TOTY Awards in 2020, and makes the perfect present for any Disney or board game lover at birthday or holiday time.

Horrified

Imagine living in a place so wretched that it’s not plagued by one, two, or even three monsters, but seven of the most horrifying fiends you’ve ever heard of. In this game, you’ll come face to face with them all as you work together to rid the town of these maniacal or misunderstood creatures… Before it’s too late.
