Ghosting The Spirit Of Christmas is a Freeform Original movie and it is the PERFECT movie to watch on a girls night with your best friend.
When I first saw the trailer for Ghosting The Spirit Of Christmas, I thought for sure this was going to be a love story. And it was. But just not at all how I thought it would be. While we see a relationship between Ben and Jess grow, we also see Jess’ relationship with her best friend Kara develop to an even stronger bond. This is the perfect movie for a girls night in with your best friend.
This movie starts with a first date between Jess and Ben that goes well — really well. But she looks at her phone on the way home and tragically, she ends up dying when her car is hit by another. Because she is not responding to Ben’s text messages, he thinks she is ghosting him.
The real twist comes when we find out her best friend can still see her (and so can Ben). Jess does everything to find out why she hasn’t ascended yet, and why is stuck on Earth. Much like she has been stuck throughout her whole life.
It’s Mostly About Friendship
My favorite part about Ghosting The Spirit Of Christmas is how much it truly is a friendship movie. We see Jess and Kara have this fantastic relationship. Where they are constantly trying to help each other out — but we also see their weaknesses as well.
I would be lying if I said I did not cry as I thought about my best friend, and how lucky I am to have her in my life. This movie is one you should definitely watch with your very best girlfriend — or a group of them — because I think it will really hit home. It would be a great learning experience as well.
Predictable…But Not To A Fault
Ghosting The Spirit Of Christmas is also really predictable. When I learned that Kara was a lesbian AND Ben’s sister was as well — I mean, it was obvious they would like each other at some point in the movie. I was totally here for it, and loved how it came about.
There were many other moments that seemed predictable throughout the movie, but I still enjoyed every second of it. I was sucked in from the first few moments. It was funny and heartwarming. And I cried. Quite a bit.
But the very VERY end did shock me a little bit. It was something I did not see coming. In fact, I kind of expected the movie to end at the moment where there was about 7 minutes left. However, I am really glad it didn’t.
Ghosting The Spirit Of Christmas is the perfect movie to cuddle up on the couch with your girlfriends and watch. It is sure to make you laugh, and make you cry. It will also make you squeeze that best friend just a little bit tighter — and be more appreciative of the relationship you have.
Plus it really gives kids (and adults) the great lesson of not to text and drive. That is how Jess died at a very young age.
