Yesterday I saw Avengers: Endgame. I watched it at the World Premiere in LA, surrounded by the cast and filmmakers. Have I processed everything I saw yet? Not by a long shot. Do I want to blab all of the spoilery details to you right now? You bet. But for now, this review will be completely spoiler free – stay tuned for one where I blurt out all of my feelings though. Let me just say, you are in for a wild ride – and it is PERFECTION.
Fans Will Feel Many Emotions
In order to keep this review spoiler free, I can just tell you to be prepared to feel all the feelings. You will laugh, you will cry, you might even feel your heart break a little bit – OK, maybe even a lot. But if you enjoy the Marvel movies, you will love this movie. They perfectly tied them all together and Avengers: Endgame truly feels like the end of an era. I cannot wait to see where the Marvel Cinematic Universe goes from here. But I can honestly say, I just don’t know where it will.
Overall, I am satisfied with this ending. I truly am. There were moments I laughed. There were moments I cried. I even cheered and clapped many times! It made me want to go through and watch all of the films again, in order. Which I just did recently. But I need to see things again. This film was something else. There is no real way to describe it. Oh, and it might have been the best Stan Lee cameo yet.
Will You Get Closure?
I can’t tell you that just yet, can I? What I can say is that you are sure to enjoy this movie. And yes, you will get some answers. Will you be happy with them? I don’t know. I mean, if I am being completely honest I still don’t know how I feel about some parts of this movie. There are lessons about sacrifice, and GIRL POWER, and how to move on. Fans will see their favorite characters evolve in ways they might have wanted, but never expected. If you have invested 11 years in the Marvel Cinematic Universe like I have, I am willing to bet you will be happy with this “ending”.
My Favorite Characters
In Avengers: Endgame, I was surprised by who some of my favorite characters were. Thor was hilarious, and I looked forward to seeing what he would do, and what he would say, next. He certainly kept me on his toes in this movie. Captain Marvel also killed it. I mean, girl power, am I right? I loved seeing her back on the big screen and just having a MASSIVE amount of power. Rocket also brought some great one liners – and you know I will always love my Iron Man – even if he is a bit of a jerk sometimes.
What Ages are Appropriate?
Honestly, I am never the right person to ask when it comes to this question. My girls and 6 and 7 and I let them see just about any movie. I mean, they saw Avengers: Infinity War when it came out. I would say, this is very similar to that movie when it comes to violence and language. There is a LOT to process, and you need to pay attention to a lot of scenes. So kids should probably be at least 8 years old to really grasp what is happening.
End Credit Scenes?
One of the questions on everyone’s mind – are there any end credit scenes, and if so, how many? Well, I am not going to answer that for you. But I will say, I got exactly what I was expecting. And it felt….final.
Avengers: Endgame hits theaters April 26th!
The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, “Avengers: Endgame.”
I wrote a breakdown of the second Avengers: Endgame trailer if you missed it!
