The Heartstopper Forever trailer is here! Are Nick and Charlie endgame? Or does Olivia Rodrigo’s Stupid Song hint at a breakup?
The trailer for Heartstopper Forever dropped today, and to say we are overwhelmed would be a massive understatement. My daughters and I only recently finished binge-watching the series, and we have been eagerly, impatiently awaiting this final movie. Now that the first look is finally here, we are a chaotic mix of pure thrill and absolute panic.
First of all, can we talk about how stunning the trailer is? Visually, it captures everything we love about this world – the warmth, the color, the undeniable chemistry between Nick and Charlie. But as massive Livies, my daughters and I collectively lost our minds within the first few seconds for a completely different reason.
The trailer features the world premiere of “Stupid Song,” a track from Olivia Rodrigo’s brand-new album, You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love. Hearing Olivia’s vocals floating over Nick and Charlie’s moments gave us instant goosebumps. This is not the first time Heartstopper has used one of her songs, but we love a crossover of our favorite things.
But once the initial Livie adrenaline wore off, a dark cloud of realization hit us hard.

We know Olivia. We know her songwriting. And we know that this album includes a heavy breakup half. The moment ‘Stupid Song‘ started playing, my daughters and I looked at each other with wide eyes. Why that song? Why that album? Is the music choice a subtle, devastating Easter egg?
The plot synopsis for the final movie certainly isn’t helping my anxiety. We already know that Nick and Charlie are facing their biggest hurdle yet. Nick is packing up and preparing to leave for university, while Charlie is staying behind, finding a new sense of independence at school. The looming reality of a long-distance relationship is clearly starting to weigh heavily on them both.
The trailer does not shy away from the doubts creeping into their minds, posing the ultimate, heartbreaking question: Can first loves really last forever?
I am putting my foot down right now: my daughters and I cannot, and will not, stand for a Nick and Charlie breakup. They must be endgame. We have watched them grow, support one another through the darkest times, and redefine what a healthy, beautiful teenage romance looks like. To see them drift apart now would break our hearts into a million pieces.

Of course, it’s not just about our main boys. The trailer also gives us glimpses of their incredible circle of friends, all navigating their own bittersweet challenges of growing up, falling in love, and moving on. It feels like this movie is going to be a beautiful, emotional tribute to the pains and joys of leaving youth behind.
We have already marked our calendars, and the countdown in our house has officially begun. Heartstopper Forever is releasing globally on Netflix on July 17, 2026. We will be counting down the days – with tissues firmly in hand. Nick and Charlie, please don’t break our hearts!
