Smallfoot Teaches Kids Valuable Lessons_ A Parent's Review

When Smallfoot came to theaters, my family really wanted to see it. Unfortunately we have a small theater in town and it was out within two weeks, so we never got the chance. When a copy of Smallfoot on blu-ray showed up at our door (thanks Warner Bros!), my girls literally did a dance around the room! They grabbed their yeti dolls, sat down in front of the TV, and asked if we could watch it. We did. And I am so glad because it teaches kids some great lessons.

Stand Up For What You Believe In

In Smallfoot a yeti sees a human, and most of the other yetis do not believe him. Most of the humans do not believe him that he saw a yeti. The yeti goes on a hunt to prove himself right. He stands up for what he believes in, and that is a really important lessons for kids to learn. Even if others laugh and you and make fun of you, you should stay true to yourself, and your thoughts.

I knew these two would be excited!! We are all really looking forward to @SMALLFOOTMovie!! #SMALLFOOT pic.twitter.com/AlIys2CCjq

    Different Is OK

Being different is OK. Yes the yeti is scared of the human and the human is scared of the yeti – because they are different. Perhaps they learn that being is different is OK in this movie? I refuse to give spoilers, but I think that is a good guess, don’t you?

    Overall Thoughts

This is kid’s movie, more or less, so you know it is going to be predictable. I won’t give anything away, but just know that parents might figure out what is going to happen pretty easily. All that being said, I still really enjoyed this movie. The humor is there, and it is something I won’t mind watching again. Plus, it has some heart. I totally recommend this for families with kids until 13. They will love it!

    About Smallfoot

An animated adventure for all ages, with fun new music by Zendaya & Common and featuring an all-star cast, “Smallfoot” turns the Bigfoot legend upside down when a bright young Yeti (Channing Tatum) finds something he thought didn’t exist—a human! News of the “smallfoot,” Percy (James Corden), throws the simple Yeti community into an uproar over what else might be out there in the big world beyond their snowy village. This is an epic story about friendship and courage!

I did like reading this about this good movie; In Smallfoot a yeti sees a human, and most of the other yetis do not believe him. Most of the humans do not believe him that he saw a yeti. The yeti goes on a hunt to prove himself right. He stands up for what he believes in, and that is a really important lessons for kids to learn. I am 67 with a 2 yr old great niece that spends a couple days a month with me. I had not watched cartoons/disney in 30+ years at least. She loves to watch TV and I have been very impressed with how much they teach the kids is just a short amount of time. WAY back when I grew up cartoons were just fun to watch, not so today they are educational
