Bambi has always been one of my absolute favorite Disney movies. I watched it many times growing up with my mom and sister – so naturally I was thrilled to be able to do it with my young daughters now. In order to help celebrate the 75th anniversary release of Bambi, we had a movie night under the stars! Now, we have family movie night every weekend, but this one was special. We even cuddled up outside with our pet bunny while watching, and just for the night, his name was Thumper instead of Riley.

As a mom of two young kids, one thing I am very concerned about is tobacco and cigarettes. They see them everywhere and my husband and I have been trying to teach them about how unhealthy they are. Yes, we even sometimes over exaggerate with words like “ew” and “gross” when we are near someone smoking, but it seems to be helping. I was very pleased to hear about the Seen Enough Tobacco Campaign that Tobacco Free New York has launched because kids really have seen enough.
Yesterday myself and some other pretty amazing bloggers had a Rogue One Viewing Party over on Twitter! We gave away some great prizes and had a blast doing it – all thanks to Disney and Roku! We were given a digital code for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and a Roku stick to watch it on – as well as some other amazing Star Wars goodies. I had seen the movie in theaters, but it is a great film and I had been dying to watch it again. I even made some cupcakes to enjoy while watching it! I hope you joined us – it was a blast!
I was lucky enough to go see the live action version of The Jungle Book before it came out in theaters while I was in LA for the Captain America: Civil War premiere. Once it was released, I took my (then) 4 year old to go see it on a special mommy/daughter date. She loved it – and I was so pleased. She talked about it for weeks and when the Blu-ray version arrived in the mail this week, she opened up right away and asked if we could watch it. She wanted to show her little sister, who is 3, and to be honest, I was nervous that she might be scared. But she wasn’t at all!
My girls love the super popular PBS Kids show WILD KRATTS and so they were thrilled to get the DVD “WILD REPTILES.” We actually went to see the Wild Kratts live once and it was an amazing experience! We all had so much fun – even my husband and myself. I love this show because my girls learn a ton about animals. Sometimes, I am totally surprised by the facts about animals and their habitats that come out of my daughters’ mouths.
PBS KIDS’ popular DINOSAUR TRAIN series from The Jim Henson Company is releasing a new DVD – Dinosaur Train: Under the Volcano! My girls and I love this show. We are always learning new facts about dinosaurs – even me! Because of this show my daughters are really interested in dinosaurs and how they lived. After an episode, they are asking questions and wanting to look up videos of the certain dinosaurs that were featured. We enjoy going to the Dinosaur Train website and playing the games and learning more and more about these creatures. Of course, we are very excited about this new DVD and watched it several times through after it arrived. All of the episodes on it are great episodes – definitely favorites of ours!

It is no surprise that Finding Dory is already a summer hit. It has been the number one movie for two weekends in a row now. I was finally able to take my whole family this weekend (last weekend we were away at Hershey Park – you can read more on that here soon) and we all loved it. If you have not gone yet, be sure to stay all the way through the credits, well worth the few minute wait! I am a huge Finding Nemo fan and Finding Dory is just as good, if not better. Why? There are a few throw backs to the original movie, there is baby Dory, and it will tug at your heart strings. Yes, I cried – more than once. We all love the new characters like Hank (and really want a pet octopus now) as well as Bailey and Destiny. It is an incredible movie and if you have not seen it yet – GO!
Summer is finally here! I know I look forward to more time with my oldest daughter – and I am sure most of you look forward to time with your school aged kids as well. Just one problem – how do we keep them busy all summer? Lucky for us, Hasbro has a great line of toys – from My Little Pony, to Marvel, to Play-Doh, & everything in between – and most of them are perfect for unlimited summer fun!
