We were invited to celebrate the KPop Demon Hunters Sing-Along Event. Here’s why this is a must-do experience for fans of the film.

In celebration of the global hit, which is currently the most-watched Netflix animated original film of all time, KPop Demon Hunters A Sing-Along Event invites HUNTR/X and Saja Boys fans to a sing-along version of the wildly popular animated film coming to theaters all around the world. Netflix invited Mama’s Geeky to join a very special version of this, complete with cast appearances. To say this was an unforgettable night is an understatement.

Screaming along the words to your favorite song in a movie on your couch is one thing, but it is a whole other vibe to do so in a packed theater with people who are just as big a fan as you are. One of the main reasons I love going to a concert is because of the communal feeling that it brings.

There is nothing quite like connecting with an artist and others who were touched, and often saved, by their music. Yes, KPop Demon Hunters already got a short theatrical release, but it really blew up at home. Our house alone has streamed it more times than I can count, and the soundtrack is on repeat. In fact, it even opened our eyes to the world of K-pop, something I cannot imagine being without.

KPOP DEMON HUNTERS MOVIE REVIEW

Not having to bite your tongue and keep from singing along while the film is playing on the big screen is part of the pure joy that the KPop Demon Hunters A Sing-Along Event brings. It really felt special to forget our troubles for one evening and disappear into the world of HUNTR/X and Saja Boys. The only thing that would be better is a live concert featuring all the singing voices – are you listening Netflix?

Our Unforgettable Experience Meeting EJAE

EJAE KPOP DEMON HUNTERS SING-ALONG EVENT

EJAE, the singing voice of Rumi, also co-wrote many of the KPop Demon Hunters songs. She surprised fans at the LA screening event at Netflix and not only joined up for the sing-along, but stayed after to do a signing and meet and greet.

She got emotional talking about how much it means to her that this movie is so beloved by fans. She has had a long road to here, and jokes that she needs to learn more adjectives because she just keeps saying it feels amazing.

When asked by Jacki Jing, moderator, “If nominated for an Oscar, you would be only the second songwriter of Korean descent to be recognized. What does it mean to be considered for this to you?” EJAE replied, “Oh my God. I should learn more adjectives. Insane, crazy, surreal. It’s just like, oh my God. It’s seriously a dream come true because as a Korean-American woman, it’s very rare to see. So I’m just really grateful that I’m able to be a part of this crazy cultural phenomenon.

EJAE KPOP DEMON HUNTERS SING-ALONG EVENT

EJAE co-wrote Golden, Your Idol, How It’s Done, and Hunter’s Mantra, here, she exlains what these songs mean to her.

“Well, Golden’s a smash. Golden was so fun because it’s a hopeful song. It meant a lot to me because when I wrote it, I was going through a hard time, so I think I needed that song. I cried singing the demo. But yeah, that’s the hopeful song, and I’m so happy everyone connected with that. How It’s Done is just a freaking banger. It’s a fun song to dance to, to feel badass. Your Idol is just a sexy song that makes the guys look hot. And Mantra means a lot to me because, being Korean-American, I lived half my life in Korea and half in the States. So I love the traditional Korean pansori sound, and I watched a lot of K-dramas with that, so it meant so much that I was able to incorporate that with my own little flair to it. So I hope you guys love it too.” -EJAE

Nyaight of the Living Cat Cast Shares What They Love About the Series

Get the inside scoop from the English dub cast of Nyaight of the Living Cat on the new series, a cat-pocalypse, and their cat cafe visit.

Crunchyroll recently invited myself and a handful of other journalists to a purr-fectly themed event to celebrate the English dub of the new anime series, Nyaight of the Living Cat. The event was held at the CatCafe Lounge in Los Angeles, which was the ideal setting to talk about the show. We had an amazing time getting to know the cast – Jason Douglas (Kunagi), Maria Delilah (Kaoru), and Lew Temple (Tanishi) – and, of course, the many adorable cats that call the cafe home.

The series, which began airing in Japan on July 6th and had its English dub premiere on July 20th, is an absolutely brilliant and bonkers take on the zombie apocalypse genre. A “nyandemic” has taken over the world, where anyone who touches a cat turns into one. The result is a brave new furry world where humanity must fight its natural urge to pet cats to survive. The series is both hilarious and heartwarming, offering a look into what it means to be a cat owner, all while navigating a post-apocalyptic world.

I had the opportunity to sit down with the English dub cast to talk about the show and their experiences. The cast had great chemistry, and it was clear they were having a fantastic time working on the show. We talked about their first impressions of the series, what it’s like to record the English dub, and whether they would be able to survive a cat-pocalypse.

Mama’s Geeky: Is this your first time at a Cat Cafe?

Jason Douglas: It’s my first time, for sure.

Lew Temple: I thought these only existed in anime or fantasy realm. I didn’t realize it was a real thing.

Jason Douglas: Yeah, so here we are, my first time. I love it.

Maria Delilah: This is like a dream.

Lew Temple: You’ve got a lot of friends. They’re very curious.

Maria Delilah: These cats, they’re everywhere.

Jason Douglas: Well, our show starts in a cat cafe. You know what I mean? It launches out of there, and everyone, that’s the world of these characters, so it’s ironic the way…

Lew Temple: The affinity for the feline is derived from the cafe.

Mama’s Geeky: I started this, and as soon as the little paw comes up, and it turns into the cat, I was like, this is the best show I’ve ever seen in my entire life. What do you love about this show?

Lew Temple: The thing that you just said, I love the idea that people do have cat affection, and that it’s a place to share it, and that it also becomes the nemesis. That affection, it’s an internal enemy, because you can’t pet them.

Maria Delilah: I know. It’s so hard. You can’t touch them, because you’ll turn into a cat. I love everything about this. I love the heavy metal. It’s very punk rock. It feels like this is the end, but it’s cats, and it’s like a party. And then we’re working at a cat cafe, and we’re having the time of our lives, and then everything goes haywire and crazy. So stuff is getting furry, and it’s fun.

Jason Douglas: It would have been easy to make the cats really villainous or something, give them a harsh look.

Maria Delilah: They’re so cute.

Jason Douglas: Well, that’s the whole point of the show, is the creators have managed to create this scenario where the cats are still cats. They’re cute, and they’re lovable. And we’re also, as an audience, learning about cat ownership as we go along. There are these little interstitial interruptions from Paul Taylor, who’s the narrator. He has that line about…

Maria Delilah: It’s their fur!

Jason Douglas: It’s their fur! It’s amazing. So it’s a loving homage to cat ownership, while using kind of the zombie genre trope, if you will. And so it really hits on a lot of different levels. It’s decent. It’s really good storytelling.

Maria Delilah: It has a lot of heart. It’s really… It’s sad when you have to make sacrifices and you lose your people. Like Kaoru losing her brother, and all those other little things. But it’s cute. And they have a good team. They’re the three amigos, these guys.

Mama’s Geeky: I do feel like if it wasn’t cats, it could be scary.

Maria Delilah: Yeah. Oh, for sure. You know what I mean? But it’s like, I would want to be a cat.

Lew Temple: I do think that’s the fun of it. To your point, Jason, that the cats just come for attention and affection, but they create mayhem, and we’re aware of it. And the temptation is, for some of us, is too great.

Maria Delilah: You just want to pet them, but you can’t.

A Feline-Filled Apocalypse: Would They Survive?

Mama’s Geeky: Do you think you would fail?

Maria Delilah: I would die in five seconds. I would be a cat in five seconds. Are you kidding me? I’d be like, oh my god!

Lew Temple: I did fail. In the first act. In the first ten minutes.

Jason Douglas: I would have said I’ll be fine a few years ago. Then we adopted a cat, a rescue cat, a few years ago as a kitten. And he’s become part of the family. So, yeah, that’s tough. Because at the end of the day, it’s like, but my cat, I’ve got to keep my cat. I’ve got to preserve, but you can’t.

Lew Temple: Yeah, I would think that would be, because you would have doubts, which I think are exactly some of the issues that the characters, how could this happen? My cat is so important to me. I got him a bed for a king.

Jason Douglas: That’s right. We have cat tower. We’ve got the fancy scratching post. All things you say you’d never, you’d never. I’m not going to spend that kind of money on a pet.

Maria Delilah: But they’re so cute when you do it. They’re snuggly.

Lew Temple: They give back just as much as they get.

Mama’s Geeky: One of the things I love so much about this is the random cat facts, like the one part when they’re like, that cat’s not going to fit through that hole. And it’s like, actually…

Maria Delilah: He’s like liquid.

Mama’s Geeky: It’s so fun. But I also think a lot of people might get like more interested and excited in cats. Do you guys agree?

Lew Temple: No doubt about it.

Maria Delilah: Yeah, I feel like this could have a really great opportunity to have maybe more people want to adopt a cat or a kitten and maybe want to go and come to a cat cafe and maybe want to work at one. I think that would be probably what they’re going to take from that.

Lew Temple: Even people who maybe have a little aversion, like a small allergy. They might take a risk. Like our friend Setsumi. She’s still game for being part of it, and then she’s using her allergy as a warning signal for us. Oh, my gosh. Her eyes are getting watery. We better run. Better keep moving.

Maria Delilah: She’s like our cat detector.

Jason Douglas: I feel like cats are a recurring motif in anime. If you watch a lot of anime, you’re going to see cats and you’re going to see cats really well rendered. It almost feels like in Japanese culture, or at least as far as the creators of manga and anime, they have a real sense of the feline and how cats behave. These cats in the show, they actually look and behave very naturally like a cat would. I think the affection for the cats, I think you can’t help but, as an audience member, love these cats in the same way that these characters do.

Lew Temple: Also, I think, too, there’s an acceptance. My character, he’s kind of an alpha male. He’s very gruff. He’s buff. He’s got a 12-pack, man. A very anime 12-pack. You can tell he spends a lot of time in the gym, but also a lot of time at the cat cafe. And he’s not really ashamed about that. And he’s okay finding his feline side. I think that gives permission to an audience to go, yeah, I like cats, too. I’m a cat guy. I’m not just a cat lady. I’m a cat guy. There you go. So I think there’s something to be said. Cats are for everyone. But they’re dangerous. They’re changing the world. It’s a cat-astrophe.

Maria Delilah: It’s becoming a brave new world. A brave, furry new world.

Mama’s Geeky: I feel like I would just give up. I’ll be like, I’ll be a cat.

Maria Delilah: I would be a cat. I’d be so happy.

Lew Temple: One of the characters did.

Jason Douglas: There is resonation. I mean, we know what happens right off the bat with your character. And obviously it’s great that we have so much of your character in flashback. Because he’s such an essential part of the show. Not just him, but also your character’s brother. We lose him as well.

Maria Delilah: We lose him. That was really sad. That was hard to record.

Lew Temple: And your character’s pretty cool and suave, but also you’re cool with cats.

Maria Delilah: He’s so great, his character. He listens to everything I say. I’m always yelling at him. And I feel bad when I’m in there. I’m going, oh my God, I’m shouting like, get in the car, it’s time to go!

Jason Douglas: Yeah. Kunagi’s interesting. Because he doesn’t. Something happened to Kunagi. He doesn’t have a memory of his life before being found in an alley.

Maria Delilah: I rescued him like a cat.

Jason Douglas: At one point he says, somebody says like, who are you? And he’s like, I don’t know. I just love cats. And then he speculates like he might have been a cat expert in the special forces, like CIA.

Bringing the Characters to Life: The Dubbing Process

Mama’s Geeky: Well, you mentioned that that scene was hard to record. Was there something in your personal life that you tapped into?

Maria Delilah: I lost my dad in 2022. And so I went in there and I did it all in one take. That one I was. And I was nervous to do that because that’s my first anime scream I ever had to do. So I was like, let’s do it last, so I don’t blow out my voice because I didn’t know how I was going to do it. And then it turned out it was the easiest thing. We did the whole thing in one take. The throwing me over the shoulder, the screaming, and the whole. The whole thing. One take. I was like, did we get it? I was out of breath and I was like, oh, we got it? Great.

Nyaight of the Living Cat Cast Shares What They Love About the Series
©HAWKMAN,MECHA-ROOTS/MAG Garden/NOTLC Project

Mama’s Geeky: So when you guys record the English dub, the animation is already done, so how much does that help you when you’re recording? Because I know a lot of times with voice acting, you’ll just get concept art to look at.

Jason Douglas: When you have the when you have the animation done like we do for most of the anime, really, it’s great to see that it kind of provides the contours for what the character is going to be. Obviously, you also have access to hearing what the Japanese voice actor did previously, although we’re not doing impressions of those actors. But we still have the same visual material to work with. So it’s useful in that regard. You can see where the character is supposed to be emotionally. Whereas when we do prelay animation, which we when we don’t have that, the benefit there is that you just get to create that character from the ground up and then they animate sometimes around what the performance that you’ve given. So there’s pros and cons to both.

Maria Delilah: It’s really funny is when I go into my sessions, I don’t get to hear it in the J, which is the Japanese version, I get to hear them already do their parts. So it’s fun for me when I go in there and I get to hear them. So it makes you get more into their sense. It’s a lonely job. We’re alone in the booth. We have our script. We know what we have to do. And we’re just looking at them and trying to figure out what they’re going through, through their facial expressions or eyebrows, the mouth. You can kind of figure it out. But it’s nice to always go in there, and I can hear him screaming, Lew is screaming, and then Kunagi is just crying about his love for cats, and I have to be like, calm down, get it together. Every time. It’s really funny.

Lew Temple: I like the visual, too, because it reminds me that this is fun. It should be viewed as fun. It’s a fun show. The graphics are fun. They’re upbeat and occasionally ridiculous and I can chuckle and go, oh, yeah, this is fun. It’s got to be fun for me or it won’t be fun for the audience.

Maria Delilah: And you can hear how much fun we’re having. Everyone’s going all out. It’s hilarious. We’re always sprinting. We do a lot of running.

Lew Temple: We’re not getting nearly enough carbs for all the running that we’re doing at the Cat Cafe. Although the French toast.

Jason Douglas: Lew has great work in episode three. It’s this whole reveal of a little bit of his backstory. And you get to eat some French toast.

Maria Delilah: It has a little paw-shaped syrup. It’s cute. It’s an indulgent moment.

Mama’s Geeky: Did you eat real French toast while you were recording?

Lew Temple: In my mind. In my imagination.

Nyaight of the Living Cat is streaming only on Crunchyroll. New episodes, subbed and dubbed, premiere on Sundays.

Nobody 2 Director Timo Tjahjanto Talks Bob Odenkirk & The Future Of The Franchise

1

Director Timo Tjahjanto talks about making Nobody 2, from its R-rated Home Alone vibe to working with unexpected action star Bob Odenkirk.

Hutch Mansell returns in Nobody 2, which picks up after the events of the first film. This sequel promises to deliver even more of the over-the-top action that fans loved, all while delving deeper into the life of the seemingly ordinary man with a hidden past.

Mama’s Geeky sat down with the director of Nobody 2, Timo Tjahjanto, to talk about the sequel. Our conversation covered everything from the unique challenges of following up a beloved original to the fun of staging brutal fight scenes in the most unexpected of places—like a water park. We also discussed the surprising depth and heart woven into the explosive action, as well as Tjahjanto’s experience collaborating with the iconic Bob Odenkirk.

Timo Tjahjanto Talks Taking on the Sequel

Nobody 2 Review: An Action-Packed Adrenaline Rush
(from left) Brady Mansell (Gage Munroe), Sammy Mansell (Paisley Cadorath), Hutch Mansell (Bob Odenkirk), David Mansell (Christopher Lloyd) and Becca Mansell (Connie Nielsen) in Nobody 2, directed by Timo Tjahjanto.

Mama’s Geeky: What was it like coming in for the second one and what was it about, you know, this franchise that kind of interests you?

Timo Tjahjanto: I’m a huge fan of the first film as well. I always said Ilya Naishuller is one of those filmmakers who, you know, like his works always amaze me and intimidate me at the same time, you know. So when they approached me with a second film, I said look, I don’t want to do what he has done so well in the first film. And they say, well, what a coincidence, because here’s the script, read it, shut the hell up, and just tell us what you think about it. And the moment like when I read it, I was like, oh, first of all, summertime, Hawaiian shirts, water parks, amusement parks. OK, very different from the first one. And especially the element of family as part of what makes you keep on going on, what, you know, what the reason why Hutch exists and all that stuff. I love that stuff. I think the very first film is very Hutch-centric. And this film dwelt more into his dependency, even without him realizing it, his dependency on his family. And I said, like, all right, I think we can make a different movie with this script that is still respectful of the first film. So there you go.

A Home Alone for the R-Rated Crowd

Nobody 2 Director Timo Tjahjanto Talks Bob Odenkirk & The Future Of The Franchise

Mama’s Geeky: I love the water park sequences. How fun was it to film that?

Timo Tjahjanto: Yeah, it’s fun because filming the water park and the amusement park is like making a Home Alone movie for the R-rated audience. I imagine Hutch Mansell as an aging Kevin from the first film. I’m kidding. It’s always fun because I remember that day when we go into a midway and into an arcade and into the water park and just finger pointing. All right. Like, this is how you’re going to die if you are riding that machine. Or this is what’s going to happen. Like, if you are sliding into a water slide and then you find, like, spikes at the end of it. So it’s like a child who is creating all sorts of ways to die horribly.

Mama’s Geeky: I’m going to second guess every time I go to a water park from now on.

Timo Tjahjanto: Hey, I’m always afraid of water parks. Trust me. You know, I’ve been there.

Working with Bob Odenkirk

Nobody 2 Review: An Action-Packed Adrenaline Rush
Nobody 2. Cr: Universal Pictures

Mama’s Geeky: What was it like coordinating all those stunts? Can you talk about your collaboration with the stunt coordinator?

Timo Tjahjanto: Oh yeah. I’m very fortunate because again, like I said before, like, this is my first film that I’m actually working with a second unit team. And obviously there’s a lot of trust that you have to give because it’s all about communicating with them. But again, the new experience will be me directing Bob somewhere in the house of Mirror while the stunt team, while the second unit team is directing Wyatt, you know, like killing a bunch of guys in a ball pit. So it’s always like me kind of like running back and forth. Like, all right, Bob, we’re done, right? Like, you’re going to kill these guys. And then the explosion happens. And then I quickly run into the other monitor. Hey, Greg, Greg Ramanter, by the way, which is a very talented action director. Like, he’s like, hey, Timo, check this out. Like, this is how the people are going to die. Like, they’re going to explode and all this stuff. All right, cool. So it’s really a lot of multitasking. And it’s very refreshing, so to speak, you know, to experience that.

Mama’s Geeky: I love Bob Odenkirk. I think he’s great. I remember the first one being like, I never pictured him as a full-on action star. I feel like you really dive into that, especially in the second one. Can you talk about working with him?

Timo Tjahjanto: You know what? I’m honestly, I’ll be scared shitless of the real Bob. You know, like I think Bob is like, you know, like the scariest guy is not the guy who’s so obviously scary. The scariest guy is actually the guy who you think is a goofball or the guy who you think is the joker in films like, you know, like in series like Breaking Bad or like Mr. Show and all that stuff. And then when you see him in real life, you realize like he is this MMA cut sinewy guy with all this hidden muscle under his shirt. And Bob is exactly that guy. You know, like it’s crazy just how tough he is in real life. Especially now that, you know, like he’s aging in a beautiful masculine way. You know, I could see like whenever something I sit there in the monitor and I was like, wow, there’s something so Clint Eastwood-y about him, you know, like the way he aged, just his face becoming more leathery than, you know, like all this, the stubbles, the unshaven thing like this, something really macho about him. As a filmmaker, I appreciate that. But above everything else, like I think one thing that’s always surprising to me is just how hardworking Bob is. Bob never stops working. Even as the camera says cut, like he’s going to be back there in his seat, you know, like writing the script and see how we can make it better. And just like, hey, Timo, what do you think if instead of doing this, he does that? You know, like, and also another thing is how open he is to different new ideas. The pinky gag is definitely something that I would never have thought he would agree on. But like he said, like, all right, Hutch Mansell loses a pinky. Let’s do it. All right. So there you go.

Finding the Heart of the Story

Nobody 2 Review: An Action-Packed Adrenaline Rush
Bob Odenkirk as Hutch Mansell in Nobody 2, directed by Timo Tjahjanto.

Mama’s Geeky: I love the connection with the family. I think so much of that I related to. What do you hope people take away from the family aspect?

Timo Tjahjanto: Yeah. I mean, that’s essentially what we want to make. I mean, I know we could never make like an epic, scopey thing, you know, like nobody was never known for it sort of like larger than life scale. Right. Like the first film feels very grounded. The second film less grounded, but like still like has that certain sort of intimate sort of like, you know, scaled down sort of feel about it. So I think the discussion has always been, yeah, we make this bigger. But most of all, we have to find what’s the heart of the film. Like we have to find what’s the complete journey for Hutch’s character. Like and then the journey I feel like is the idea that the revelation that Hutch thinking he’s a man of action, he’s a lone wolf, but like he never really is, you know, like unlike John Wick, he wasn’t Baba Yaga, you know, like he’s just a man who eats his toast and wears his pants one leg at a time. And he needs his family, even without you admitting it. I think, as a father of two girls, I think we always have the tendency to think our daughter really needs me. Like we are the backbone, like the provider. But like what we never, what we seldom think is actually without their existence, your life almost becomes a purposeless sort of journey. And that’s not for everybody. I think I’m specifically talking about the father and the husband. I think that’s the whole point. Hutch is not Hutch Mansell without his two kids and his wife, Becca, and that’s the heart of the film.

The Future of Nobody

Nobody 2 Director Timo Tjahjanto Talks Bob Odenkirk & The Future Of The Franchise
NOBODY 2

Mama’s Geeky: I would love to see more, and I would love to see you in the director’s chair for this. Is this something you would come back and want to continue the franchise?

Timo Tjahjanto: Look, I think at the end of the day, I am just, I’m already grateful that like, you know, like Universal gave me a chance to direct this in 87 North. David Leitch and Kelly McCormick has been generous. But I’m not under the illusion that Ilya Naishuller creates a lot of what this film, what the franchise is all about. So let’s say, I think the fair answer will be like this. I’m more than eager if they are doing Nobody 3. But the only person that I will say, you know what, he’s the better director than me to direct it will be Ilya Naishuller. I don’t know. I think Ilya is such a great filmmaker. He doesn’t need a co-director.

Nobody 2 comes to theaters August 15.

Nobody 2 Review: An Action-Packed Adrenaline Rush

0

Nobody 2 is a fast-paced action movie that will send viewers on a wild ride, but it still finds the time to deliver heart and a message about the importance of family.

Nobody 2 Review: An Action-Packed Adrenaline Rush
(from left) Brady Mansell (Gage Munroe), Sammy Mansell (Paisley Cadorath), Hutch Mansell (Bob Odenkirk), David Mansell (Christopher Lloyd) and Becca Mansell (Connie Nielsen) in Nobody 2, directed by Timo Tjahjanto.

Hutch Mansell (Bob Odenkirk) is back in Nobody 2, and all he wants is a nice, quiet, family vacation. After the events of Nobody, he is working hard to pay off his debts. When he finally is able to take some time off, he finds himself almost instantly wrapped up in something he does not want to be a part of. It seems that trouble always finds him.

Nobody 2 is a fast-paced, wild ride, but it also manages to deliver some hard-hitting messages about the importance of family and what it means to protect the ones you love, but not at the expense of missing out on time with them. This is very relatable for any working parent, and meant a lot for me to see on the big screen.

Nobody 2 Is Grown Up Home Alone, And It’s Awesome

Nobody 2 Review: An Action-Packed Adrenaline Rush
Bob Odenkirk as Hutch Mansell in Nobody 2, directed by Timo Tjahjanto.

Not only is it amazing to see Bob Odenkirk back to kicking butt as an action star, but it is a lot of fun to see him laying traps for the bad guys. The final act of this movie feels like Home Alone if Kevin was all grown up and taking on some seriously awful people.

When speaking with director Tim Tjahjanto he said this is something he was going for, and he pulled it off, creating one of the best action sequences I have seen in a while. It really feels like John Wick meets Home Alone.

Nobody 2 Features Stellar Acting By The Newcomers To The Franchise

Nobody 2 Review: An Action-Packed Adrenaline Rush
NOBODY 2. Cr: Universal Pictures

A good action movie works best when the audience despises the villains. We need to want to see them get what they have coming. This is something that Nobody 2 pulls off brilliantly, largely in part because of the acting (and a great script).

Without getting into too much detail, Colin Hanks plays an annoying sheriff who abuses his power to the fullest. The town that Hutch and his family are vacationing in has some deep ties to some really bad people, as seen in the trailer, and he is all in on helping them out – no matter the cost. He is full of himself and thinks he is untouchable, so his scenes opposite Bob Odenkirk are phenomenal.

Nobody 2 Review: An Action-Packed Adrenaline Rush
NOBODY 2. Cr: Universal Pictures

But he is not the only villain of the story. Sharon Stone’s character is cold and calculated. I have never seen her in a role like this before, and I can honestly say that I would not be mad if she continued to take ones like this. She is incredible. She is scary. And she is one of my favorite parts of the movie.

The Action Sequences Are Bigger & More Explosive

Nobody 2 Review: An Action-Packed Adrenaline Rush
Nobody 2. Cr: Universal Pictures

While revenge was Hutch’s motivation in Nobody, this time around, he wants to protect his family. But it is also clear that he wants to protect any innocents in the town that have been affected by the shady dealings going on. This leads to a lot of killing and a ton of bloody action sequences that will have viewers wincing with glee.

They upped the ante this time around, in the best way possible. Things are bigger and more explosive, but that doesn’t take away from the grounded action of the first film. Both are great in their own way. One of the best things about Nobody 2 is getting to see more of the family dynamic and learning just how much they mean to one another, even if they don’t always want to admit it.

Nobody 2 comes to theaters on August 15th, and trust me when I saw, you want to see it on the biggest screen possible.

ATEEZ Rocks The Stage In LA Two Nights In A Row With In Your Fantasy 2025 Tour

ATEEZ returned to BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, bringing the heat and giving ATINY two unforgettable evenings of the In Your Fantasy 2025 tour.

Kpop Demon Hunters has taken the world by storm, rightfully so, and introduced so many people around the world to K-pop. While I had dabbled in it before, I had not dived in fully. Now my algorithm is all K-pop and I admit, I am not mad at it. It didn’t take long before ATEEZ took over my feed, thanks to a good friend suggesting multiple videos, and the timing was perfect, because they were coming to LA with their In Your Fantasy tour later in the summer.

Of course, due to my concert obsession, I snatched up tickets for both nights, and I do not regret it at all. The first night at BMO Stadium, I was in the 200s sections to the left of the stage, and on night two, I was in the 100s on the right side. I am so thankful that I chose two different perspectives to experience this incredible show from – both of which were amazing.

If you are new to ATEEZ, the group consists of eight members: Hongjoong, Seonghwa, Yunho, Yeosang, San, Mingi, Wooyoung, and Jongho. Hongjoong and Mingi are the rappers, while the rest are vocalists, with Jongho being considered the main vocals.

xikers Heats Up The Crowd Both Nights

Fellow KQ Entertainment group, xikers, warmed up the crowd for ATEEZ both nights in Los Angeles. Having an opener doesn’t happen often in K-Pop, and xikers isn’t performing at every In Your Fantasy stop, so this was an extra special treat. The group consists of ten members: Minjae, Junmin, Sumin, Jinsik, Hyunwoo, Junghoon, Seeun, Yujun, Hunter, and Yechan.

ATINY showed xikers so much love both evenings, and xikers gave it right back to the crowd. They only performed three songs each night, and were sure to get us hyped for ATEEZ by working in their songs as well. xikers have covered BOUNCY before but they really set the mood for what was to come and got the crowd on their feet and screaming at BMO Stadium when they went into it.

Of course, they also showed off their stage for their new song, ICONIC. If you have yet to hear this one, all it will take is one listen before it is stuck in your head, trust me. Ten people coordinating on stage cannot be easy, and must take a lot of practice, but they nailed all the choreography and did an incredible job.

High Energy & Incredible Stage Production Makes The In Your Fantasy Tour Unforgettable

From the very first song to the very last encore, the energy in the stadium was through the roof (well, it would have been if there was a roof). ATINY were screaming and dancing their hearts out, and ATEEZ made sure they were giving us their best performances. They never once slowed down or lacked energy. What the crowd was giving them, they were channeling right back to the crowd, creating a cycle that made everyone in that stadium feel loved.

The production for the In Your Fantasy tour is off the charts, as well. The screen visuals help to tell a story with each song. Outlaw and Man On Fire were probably the standouts for me, just because of how much went into them, but honestly, I was completely captivated with every stage. ATEEZ is not messing around. They want to be sure to give ATINY their money’s worth, which they did and more.

We were lucky because LA night two was special because it was Mingi’s birthday. The rest of ATEEZ and ATINY showered him with the love that he deserves, and it was so fun to see how they incorporated his birthday into the show. Hongjoong brought Mingi out during his solo stage, turning BMO Stadium into a giant birthday party, and of course, everyone wished him a happy birthday and sang to him.

Solo Stages Give Each Member Their Time To Shine

Wooyoung performs his solo stage at BMO Stadium 8/9/2025. Photo: Tessa Smith

One of my favorite things about K-pop concerts is the addition of the solo stages. For those who don’t know, this is where one member comes out and performs solo, really allowing the audience to focus on them. It can be tough to keep your eye on all the members during the show, especially since ATEEZ has eight members, so adding in these stages truly gives each member their time to shine.

I feel that this is where you get to know their personalities a little bit more, as well as really hone in on their vocals and their talents. Of course, their voices and skills all blend together perfectly, which is what makes the 1 team and the ATEEZ we know and love, but I really enjoyed getting to see them solo. I don’t think I could choose a favorite if you forced me to. Each member knows exactly what they bring to the table, and they put it all out there for ATINY to see (while looking like they were having the time of their lives, I might add).

ATEEZ Are Amazing Performers

I went in with San as my bias and Mingi as my bias wrecker, and I never expected that to change. I really admire both of their voices so much on the tracks, and Mingi raps so fast that he makes my head spin (in a good way). That said, I knew it was a possibility, having never seen them live.

After two concerts? I can confidently say that I am an OT8 girlie, through and through. All eight members showed off their skills and rocked the stage, allowing me to fully realize I love each and every one of them for different reasons. They put their heart and soul into these shows and leave it all out there on the stage. Their dynamic with one another is great, and they are also so funny, always cracking jokes and making ATINY laugh between sets.

I do need to admit something, though. Hongjoong was trying really hard to capture my attention throughout both shows. He definitely showcased why he is the Captain, and how much he cares about his fellow members, and ATINY, even getting emotional and teary-eyed while looking out into the crowd at the end of the show. I hope he (and all the members) felt the love we were sending them.

The second the lights in the stadium turned on after night two was over, I felt that post-concert depression sinking in. Thankfully, ATEEZ has renewed their contract and promised to return to LA next year. And I will be there.
