House of the Dragon episode 4 is the most scandalous episode yet — and easily the best of the series so far. This is peak Game of Thrones.
House Of The Dragon Episode 4 Review
House of the Dragon episode 4 once again proves that this series came to play. Nothing is being held back as House of the Dragon solidifies itself as peak Game of Thrones. There might not be a whole lot of action in this episode, but it makes up for it in scandals and drama and backstabbing — oh my!
Picking up during the aftermath of the events of episode 3, episode 4 shows the return of Prince Daemon (Matt Smith) to Westeros. He has bested the Crabfeeder in battle and is ready to accept his glory. Knowing he will likely never regain his place in line for the throne, he has manipulative plans in motion.
In an effort to avoid spoilers for the upcoming episode 4 of House of the Dragon, we will not go into details, but know that he is cold and calculated — and Matt Smith plays into the role perfectly.
It is completely captivating to watch the webs he is weaving from the angle of the audience. The man is not willing to ever give up his hopes and dreams, which can be applauded even if they way he is going about it is wrong.
Once again we get some intense conversations between him and Rhaenyra (Milly Alcock) that steal the show. These two are phenomenal on screen together and never disappoint. Their relationship is evolving and changing as the season goes on. Both are strong-willed and stubborn, making it clear there is a whole lot in store for the two of them.
As stated above, there is not a whole lot of action in House of the Dragon episode 4. It is more about the story development and laying the groundwork for something major to come. Eventually the shoe will drop and things will get crazy — and we cannot wait to see how that shakes things up in Westeros when it does.
While there might not be an epic battle, or blood spilled in this episode, there is something else Game of Thrones fans have grown used to. Just be prepared for a whole lot of nudity — that is all we will say.
Matt Smith and Milly Alcock are undoubtedly the stars of this series. There are some key moments with King Viserys Targaryen (Paddy Considine) and Queen Alicent Hightower (Emily Carey) which propel the story forward a bit, and add to the drama and deceit, however it is difficult for them to burst past the other two to be at the forefront of the show.
Both are incredible actors, and fill their roles nicely, but this is Matt and Milly’s show, and we won’t ever forget that.
Knowing that the series will be jumping forward in time and some actors will be replaced, including Milly, is a bit heartbreaking considering just how well she is exceeding in this role. While it is understandable considering the time line, she delivered such a wonderful performance in this episode that it is a hard pill to swallow.
Things are heating up in the fight for the Iron Throne and in Westeros — winter is not coming anytime soon. The best episode of the entire series so far, House of the Dragon episode 4 ends on quite the cliffhanger that will have fans wondering exactly what is going on, and what will happen next.
