In this Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Trailer 2 breakdown let’s talk the Illuminati, Savage Land, Professor X, Zombies, & more!

The Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Trailer 2 arrived just before the Big Game and it is jam packed with hints as to what is to come. There are major reveals and if this is what Marvel is giving us in the second trailer, it is clear there is a lot more to come in the actual movie. We all know they like to keep their cards close to their chest.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Trailer 2 Breakdown
There is so much to discuss thanks to the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Trailer 2 — from zombies, to the illuminati, let’s break it all down.

Nightmare Dimension
The trailer starts off with Doctor Strange confessing that he has a nightmare every night. This could hint that the heavily rumored big bad from Marvel Comics is making his live action debut — Nightmare. Who is he? Well, Nightmare is a Class Three Demon who is able to capture a sleeping person’s astral form and bring it to his realm. There they are tormented in various ways. Sure seems like this could be who Doctor Strange is dealing with. Or he could simply be haunted by his actions.

America Chavez In Action
This trailer gives us America Chavez in action, battling what looks to be a very crazy monster. We also see her signature star portal being used in the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness trailer. Something she uses to travel between dimensions — and the multiverse.

A Wanda Fight
Wanda is fighting someone very powerful here. But who is it exactly? Many people think it is Captain Marvel. The biggest question is, which one? With the multiverse being wide open anything is possible. Marvel Comics back up the fact that many people have taken on this mantle before, including Monica Rambeau.

Who Is This?
There is a glowing figure seen in the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness trailer that could be the very same one that Wanda is fighting — or someone complexly different. With just a quick glimpse this could be a newcomer to the Marvel Cinematic Universe like Quasar or Nova — or it could be the heavily rumored Tom Cruise taking up the mantel of Superior Iron Man. Someone had to build those Ultron looking sentry bots, right?

Kamar-Taj / Rintrah
The Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness trailer 2 seems to be showing the destruction of Kama-Taj — the home and training grounds to the Masters of the Mystic Arts. Doctor Strange is witnessing this in his nightmares, but is it something that has happened or just a fear of his? Along with him is Rintrah, someone he knows very well in Marvel Comics. He resembles a minotaur and is a very intelligent extradimensional being. The two have worked together closely in the comics.

Gargantos
This trailer gives fans another look at Gargantos — who is very commonly confused with Shuma Gorath, who is surely his inspiration form the comic books. This creature is completely unique to the MCU and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

The Illuminati
Here is where things get really good. Fans were screaming, clapping, and jumping up and down with the reveal that the Illuminati is very likely a part of this movie. Doctor Strange is wearing handcuffs and has been escorted into a room with six chairs.
In the comic books The Illuminati is a secret organization comprised of several of the world’s most powerful heroes:
- Sorceror Supreme Doctor Strange
- Black Bolt, King of the Inhumans
- Charles Xavier, founder of the X-Men and mutant rights activist
- Reed Richards, founding member of the Fantastic Four
- Namor the Sub-Mariner, King of Atlantis
- Iron Man (Anthony Stark), founding member of the Avengers
These six men worked together for an unspecified amount of time to mold and shape the status of the superhuman world and the world around it. Namor is already heavily rumored to be appearing in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, so it wouldn’t be a stretch for him to appear here.
Black Bolt could certainly be brought back, and if not, he could be replaced by a variant of T’Challa. Both feel very plausible to be a member of the Illuminati.
Fans know it is only a matter of time before Reed Richards appears in the MCU, and here would be the perfect introduction. We would be willing to bet money that John Krasinski is the actor portraying Mr. Fantastic, and that the Fantastic Four are the ones who purchased Avengers Tower.
Iron Man gave up his life in order to save the world, but that doesn’t mean he can’t come back in another form. This is the multiverse after all. Tom Cruise is rumored to be playing Superior Iron Man in this film and it feels very likely, as you can’t have the Illuminati without Tony Stark.

The final member is an easy one. This new Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness trailer confirms that Sir Patrick Stewart will be reprising his role as Professor X. Everyone knows that voice — there is no mistaking it. We don’t see his face but we do hear him say “We should tell him the truth.”
This is all assuming that Doctor Strange himself is brought in to be a part of the Illuminati, or a variant of himself is already a part of it.

The Savage Land
Immediately following his meeting with the Illuminati, Doctor Strange seems to be falling through time. There are dinosaurs around him suggesting this could be the Savage Land from Marvel Comics. The Savage Land, set in Antarctica at the base of the Palmer Peninsula, is a tropical prehistoric land surrounded by volcanoes deep. It is a tropical preserve hidden from the rest of the world.

Wanda Illusions & Returns To Westview
Wanda Maximoff, AKA the Scarlet Witch, is a major part of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. At this time it is unclear if she is a villain or not, but the second trailer seems to push that she is. During the first trailer, and part of this one, we see Wanda walking with Strange as she is doing some gardening in street clothes. However, as seen above, this is likely all an illusion as she is surrounded by bare trees in her Scarlet Witch outfit that she got at the end of WandaVision.

Speaking of WandaVision, she returns to Westview as seen in the still above. She is there to console herself, at least it seems that way. She is still clearly dealing with the trauma of losing everything.

Nightmare, Knull, Or Zombie Strange?
This 8 armed version of Doctor Strange could be several things. It could be a zombie Strange (look at his face), or it could be Nightmare, or possibly even Knull. The glimpse is too quick and without context it is nearly impossible to tell. Either way, we can all admit it that he looks really freaking cool.

Marvel Zombies
The thirty second TV spot advertising the new trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness gives fans a glimpse at a couple of things we do not see in the full second trailer. The main thing is — zombies. As seen in the still above this is very clearly a zombie version of Doctor Strange. In the brief moment we see him, it looks like he is somehow regenerating or healing himself. Bringing zombies to live action from the animated What If show was rumored, but this just confirmed we are getting it. How exciting.

While this certainly looks like a zombie version of Wanda, she is wearing her street clothes and not her Scarlet Witch costume that she does in What If? So, this could very easily just be a very angry, very wounded Wanda.

Captain Peggy Carter
It has been heavily rumored that Captain Peggy Carter will be making her live action debut in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and while we did not see her in the trailer, take a close up look at one of the shards of glass at the bottom right of the new poster. That certainly looks like her shield doesn’t it?
