The Girl In The Woods is a suspenseful and spooky series filled with twists, turns, and kickass female monster hunters — and it is a must watch!

The Girl In The Woods is a series that most thriller fans will really enjoy. It airs on Peacock and is filled with shocking surprises, creepy monsters, and a really strong friendship. The lead actors all bring something amazing to the table, as do those who are working behind the set. This series is so well done that it feels like something that could actually happen — or has happened. And I truly hope they find a way to continue it.

This show is about a door in the woods that is guarded by a runaway girl named Carrie. Inside that door are a whole slew of monsters and a cult — both things that the small town clearly does not want to be a part of their world. However when strange things start happening, Carrie must count on her new friends Nolan and Tasha to help her stop them.

When the three decide they need to become full blown monster slayers is when the series really picks up, and become a whole ton of fun. That said, without the perfect set up from the first few episodes, it wouldn’t mean nearly as much to viewers — especially when they get to some shocking reveals.

The Girl In The Woods is just eight short thirty minute episodes so it a quick and easy binge — and one that you are going to want to dive fully into, trust me. As the twists and turns start to be revealed, you won’t be able to turn it off.

Krysten Ritter perfectly directs the first four episodes. What she does adds to the intensity and suspense and sets the tone for the show. SECOND DIRECTOR seamlessly picks up where she leaves off and while there is clearly a change in the show after episode four, it doesn’t feel like an entirely new thing. It flows well together, which is very important in a cohesive series like this.

As a mom of girls I love that there are some kick ass females at the front of this show. Misha, who is a nonbinary actor, said during our interview that they love being Queer, and love getting to represent that on screen in The Girl In The Woods. Representation is important, and I personally love that more and more films and television shows are being inclusive.

When teens watch this series I hope they enjoy seeing themselves represented, while also learning that they can kick serious butt, no matter what anyone might tell them. There are also some great lessons about friendship in this show, as Tasha and Nolin clearly have an unbreakable bond.

While it is a really fun watch, there are a few small issues like some dialogue and pacing here and there, but honestly it is nothing that takes away from the overall show. If you are into thriller, spooky, jump scares, with some supernatural elements weaved in, The Girl In The Woods is for you!

About The Girl In The Woods

Teenage runaway Carrie’s job is to guard that door, but when strange occurrences begin to shake the sleepy mining town to its core, she must enlist the help of new friends Nolan and Tasha.

The group becomes an unlikely trio of monster slayers, determined to save their loved ones. As they fight back, Nolan and Tasha can’t help but wonder…can they really trust Carrie? Small towns sure can be Hell.
