Critical Role Delivers Double Dose of Excitement at SDCC: The Legend of Vox Machina Seasons Four and Five and The Mighty Nein Cast Details Revealed!

San Diego Comic-Con 2025 attendees were treated to a monumental panel from Critical Role and Prime Video today, with two major announcements sending Critters into a frenzy. Fans learned that the beloved animated series, The Legend of Vox Machina, will not only return for a highly anticipated fourth season in 2026, but has also been renewed for a fifth and final season, promising a complete and epic conclusion to the adventures of Vox Machina.
In addition, the long-awaited animated adaptation of Critical Role’s second campaign, The Mighty Nein, officially has a premiere date of November 19, along with a star-studded reveal of its guest cast.
The Legend of Vox Machina to Conclude with Season 5

The news that The Legend of Vox Machina will receive a fifth and final season marks a significant milestone for the series, ensuring that the story of the rambunctious heroes, born from Critical Role’s first Dungeons & Dragons campaign, will be told in its entirety. Season Four, set to debut in 2026, will pick up after the devastating events of Season Three, which saw the Chroma Conclave’s destruction and the Cinder King’s hunt for Vox Machina.
While our heroes successfully protected Tal’Dorei and Exandria from past threats, Season Four will find them scattered across the globe, facing a cataclysmic threat that will force them to reunite against a foe darker than they could imagine. This promise of an even grander conflict for the penultimate season sets the stage for a truly epic conclusion in Season Five.
Melissa Wolfe, Head of Animation at Amazon MGM Studios, expressed her excitement for the series’ longevity, stating, “Achieving five seasons is a significant milestone for everyone involved, and we can’t wait for fans to experience what we have planned for the epic fifth and final season of The Legend of Vox Machina on Prime Video.” Critical Role co-founders and executive producers Sam Riegel and Travis Willingham echoed this sentiment, adding, “It’s so rare for any television series to get to tell a complete story, beginning to end, exactly as it was envisioned.”
The Mighty Nein Unveils Premiere Date and Guest Stars

Fans eager to dive into Critical Role’s second iconic campaign in animated form finally have a date to mark on their calendars: The Mighty Nein will premiere globally on Prime Video on November 19. This highly anticipated series follows a new group of fugitives and outcasts whose paths intertwine when a powerful arcane relic, “The Beacon,” falls into dangerous hands. They must learn to work together to save their realm from unraveling.
The panel also delighted audiences with the reveal of an impressive roster of guest stars joining the core Critical Role cast. Mark Strong (Nine Perfect Strangers, 1917), Alan Cumming (The Traitors), Tim McGraw (The Blind Side, 1883), Anika Noni Rose (Princess and the Frog), Ming-Na Wen (The Mandalorian), Auli’i Cravalho (Moana), Rahul Kohli (iZombie), Robbie Daymond (Date Everything!), and Jonathan Frakes (Star Trek: The Next Generation) are all set to lend their voices to the world of The Mighty Nein.
They will join Critical Role founders and cast members Laura Bailey, Taliesin Jaffe, Ashley Johnson, Liam O’Brien, Matthew Mercer, Marisha Ray, Sam Riegel, and Travis Willingham, who are reprising their beloved roles from the original campaign.
With The Mighty Nein on the horizon and The Legend of Vox Machina set for a grand finale, Prime Video is clearly doubling down on its commitment to bringing the rich world of Exandria to animated life.
