Deadpool & Wolverine gives Marvel fans exactly what they want. Packed with laugh-out-loud moments, meta jokes, cameos, and even heart.

Marvel fans have been waiting what feels like forever to see Deadpool and Wolverine on screen together and now that the time has finally come, is the movie a let down or worth the wait? Well, it should come as no surprise that Deadpool & Wolverine was absolutely worth the wait. Because of the timing of the movie, fans are able to get everything they wanted from it. Hilarious digs at Marvel, insane cameos, and, at the heart of it all, a heartwarming story about friendship.

As seen in the trailers, this movie comes hard for Marvel. It seems as if nothing is off the table in terms of making fun of their past mistakes. Deadpool & Wolverine is R-rated, just as the previous two Deadpools are, which goes to show that Marvel President Kevin Feige trusts Ryan Reynolds and his process. And thank goodness that is the case because a PG-13 Deadpool would just not be the same — although we are confident that it could be pulled off.

Right from the very first scene of Deadpool & Wolverine it is clear that this movie is going to be an absolute blast, and that vibe never goes away. The action is bloody, violent, and completley bonkers, the jokes are meta and laugh-out-loud hilarious, and the amount of Easter eggs and references to past films and the comics are nearly impossible to count. In short, this movie gives Marvel fans exactly what they want.

The plot follows Wade Wilson, also known as Deadpool, after he is brought to the TVA and asked to join The Sacred Timeline by Mr. Paradox. In an effort to avoid spoilers, lets just say that he ends up needing to recruit Wolverine in order to save the few people in his life that he cares about. Because we now have the multiverse at our disposal, this means that Deadpool and Wolverine are able to cross paths with some very exciting characters, some of which fans might not expect to see.

On top of all that, the soundtrack is absolutely killer. The use of Bye Bye Bye from *NSYNC is easily the best opening sequence song in a long time. Every time there is a high octane, fast-paced, fight scene, the perfect song accompanies it. Think Guardians of the Galaxy level of perfect use of music.

Here’s the thing about Deadpool & Wolverine, it might be absolutely hilarious – like you will laugh so hard that your cheeks hurt, trust us – but it is also packed with heart. The story, at its core, is about friendship. There are times where fans will be tearing up, which is shocking when this is an R-rated movie that is unafraid to cross all of the lines. This is one of the most heartwarming Marvel movies in a while – and yeah, I never thought I would say that.

Many have said that Logan was the perfect ending for Wolverine, myself included, so how can he be brought back without taking away from that? Somehow, Ryan Reynolds and Shawn Levy pulled that off. Marvel fans are sure to get emotional seeing Wolverine in the classic yellow and blue suit, but that isn’t the only thing that will have them in their feels.

Deadpool & Wolverine is a buddy comedy, with a ton of heart. At its core it is about friendship and platonic (and not so platonic) love, which is something that everyone can relate. Every single person on Earth has someone they would do anything for.. and that is what this movie showcases.

Cassandra Nova is a fantastic villain. She is creepy and you know Deadpool is not afraid to make fun of her and the way her powers work. Emma Corrin does a wonderful job of capturing the pure crazy that lives inside of this character with her facial expressions and mannerisms.

    Overall Thoughts

Deadpool & Wolverine was made for the Marvel fans that have been around since the very beginning. Half of the fun is the surprise, so stay off the internet and do not let anyone ruin this movie for you. Geeks are going to have the best time with this movie, and are sure to watch time and time again (I know I will).

Deadpool & Wolverine leans into that R-rated humor, but is still sure to make the story work and throw in a lot of heart. The cameos are not just there for fan service, their inclusion makes perfect sense in the plot. That said, they do service fans. Easily the best movie of the year, and the best Marvel movie in years.
