Now that Fox and Disney have merged, Deadpool & Wolverine can happen. Marvel President Kevin Feige says after this, the Mutant Era is coming.
Marvel Comics fans have been waiting what feels like forever for mutants to enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fox and Disney may have merged years ago, but the time needed to be right. Now is the time for fans to rejoice, because Marvel President Kevin Feige assures that after Deadpool & Wolverine, the mutant era is coming.
During the Deadpool & Wolverine press conference, Gustavo Arismendi from Super Geeky in Chile asked how important this movie is to the MCU as a whole.
Deadpool & Wolverine Ushers In The Mutant Era
Feige starts off his answer by stating that he thinks every movie is important, but that the most important thing is a great movie. “Shawn and Ryan and Hugh and this whole team have made a great movie. There’s nothing better for a cinematic universe than a great movie coming out.”
He says that he has seen a lot of people talking about the R-rating, and wondering if every movie after this is going to be R-rated. “Of course not. But I hope every movie after this embraces its tonality the way Deadpool does and the way this team was able to do on Deadpool & Wolverine.”
Kevin Feige continues, “In terms of what is coming after Deadpool & Wolverine, now we have the characters from the X-Men world and the mutants that we haven’t had access to before. I think this is the beginning of that and everything post Deadpool & Wolverine will be the mutant era coming into the MCU.”
Mutants now being a part of the MCU is very exciting, so be sure to check out the start of it all, when Deadpool & Wolverine comes to theaters on July 26th.
