Your Lucky Day is an intense thriller that shows how quickly people will throw their morals out the window for the chance to be rich.

    Your Lucky Day review

Do you ever wonder what you would do to secure a massive financial windfall? Everyone would hope that they would not sacrifice their morals, no matter how much you, or your family, needed the money. Your Lucky Day shows the lengths that some people would be willing to go, and it includes brutally murdering complete strangers.

Note: This piece was written during the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Your Lucky Day would not exist without the labor of the writers and actors in both unions.

When a man at a convenience store realizes that he has the winning 156 million dollars lottery ticket, he is perhaps a little too loud about it. If he had just quietly minded his own business, things might have played out a little better for him. Sterling (played by Angus Cloud) overhears, pulls a gun, and demands the ticket.

While all this is going on, a cop comes out of the restroom, and all Hell breaks loose. Things are quickly flipped upside down as people start to die. The owner of the store reminds everyone that the ticket is coded to the store, meaning they all need to get their story straight.

The problem is, it doesn’t take long before news of the winning ticket is somehow spread beyond the walls of the store. And some people are willing to do just about anything for money.

    Your Lucky Day review

Your Lucky Day is one of Angus Cloud’s final on screen performances following his sudden and sad death in July of 2023. This film proves just what a lose that was in the acting world. While the role is a little bit similar to his Euphoria role, it does seem to be jacked up to eleven. He is accompanied by several other fine actors who help bring the story to life.

The movie gets pretty intense very quickly, and viewers are left on the edge of their seat wondering who is going to end up coming out on top. While there is certainly a lot of blood and killing, there is also an emotional storyline, surrounding a pregnant waitress. She is easy to root for from the start. I don’t want to give away any of the plot points, but she is pretty impressive and badass, something you might not expect from her at first.

Your Lucky Day really shines in the end. The final moment leaves with a burning question – how far would you go for financial freedom?

Even just the thought of being able to have everything and anything you want can change a person. The themes of the way that money can change a person that are rooted in Your Lucky Day is what makes it work. It evokes pure suspense as you watch a character to see how far they are willing to go.

    About Your Lucky Day

It’s Christmas Eve at the Sip N Go corner store, and the world’s smarmiest man has just hit the 156 million-dollar jackpot. As he loudly proclaims his windfall, Sterling, a low-level street thug, draws his gun and demands the ticket. When a beat cop emerges from the back restroom, the young rookie forces a standoff, accidentally killing the winning man in the crossfire and is mortally wounded himself in the melee.

Golden ticket in hand, Sterling’s prayers have seemingly been answered, but as store owner Amir points out, it’s not that easy. With the ticket encoded to the store and two dead bodies, one of which belongs to a cop, a thorough investigation is inevitable, and all of that money will disappear.

With tensions high and trust low, Sterling, Amir, and a young expecting couple, Abraham and Ana Marlene, begin to negotiate: How much is your silence worth? How about your complicity? Bargains are made and a plan is conceived, but as Sterling says, “It’s better to be lucky than good,” and these players aren’t all that lucky.

Your Lucky Day played at Fantastic Fest 2023.
Well Go will release YOUR LUCKY DAY in theaters and on digital this Fall.
