Mando+ : A Conversation with Jon Favreau & Dave Filoni
11:00AM – 12:00PM, Live on the Celebration Stage; streamed to the Galaxy and Twin Suns Stages

In their first appearance at Star Wars Celebration since the premiere of The Mandalorian, join Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni with special guests for a lookback and a look ahead at what’s to come.

Disney+ shared photos from “Mando+: A Conversation with Jon Favreau & Dave Filoni,” a Star Wars Celebration panel that was moderated by Ash Crossan, host of Screenrant. Favreau and Filoni were joined by Pedro Pascal, Brendan Wayne, Lateef Crowder, Giancarlo Esposito, Emily Swallow, Carl Weathers, Temuera Morrison, Katee Sackhoff, Rick Famuyiwa, Rosario Dawson and Natasha Liu Bordizzo, with special guests Grogu from “The Mandalorian” and Chopper, a very special droid that will be featured in “Ahsoka.” This was Grogu’s and Chopper’s first Star Wars Celebration appearance.

Natasha Liu Bordizzo was announced as joining the cast of “Ahsoka” as fan-favorite character Sabine Wren, and fans were treated to early footage from the series, which stars Rosario Dawson.

In addition to his directing duties, it was announced that Rick Famuyiwa will also executive produce “The Mandalorian,” Season 3. The enthusiastic audience was also shown an extended sneak peek of the upcoming season.

Both “Ahsoka” and “The Mandalorian,” Season 3 will stream exclusively on Disney+ in 2023.

Jon Favreau says spearheading Star Wars TV has been a dream. He wanted to pear it down to a few characters and a small story. A good way to bring people in, and allow the Disney+ shows to be a kicking off point for new Star Wars fan. The viewership went up for the old films and animated series.

“We get to tell the story over many, many hours. We don’t have to solve the problem in a couple hours. It’s a tremendous freedom for storywriters.” – Jon Favreau

“My heart has exploded. It’s a good last day of my life.” – Pedro Pascal. Pedro says Luke is one of favorites.

People thought Grogu wouldn’t be around for a while after the final episode of season 2. “we already had the plan to have Luke train Grogu in Book of Boba Fett.” says Dave Filoni. “It makes sense that Luke would be the one to train him in that time period.”

Each character had to sacrifice a bit of themselves. Mando taking off his helmet and Grogu giving up the lightsaber and training. It’s a bit of a throwback to Paper Moon, where you think the whole movie is about reunited Tatum ONeal with her Aunt and then she runs back at the end and bonds and families form in interesting ways. “It’s not always by blood.”

“none of these guys have any ego, and they are some of the most talented people I have worked with in the entire business.

Giancarlo Esposito “I’m gonna squash that little child.” He goes on to say that he created a backstory for Moff Gideon for himself. “You get a sense from being in there presence about what they want.” speaking of Jon and Dave. Jon said I trust you to him, and when you work with folks that allow you to That empowered me. Isn’t that what our show is about? Empowerment. That moment changed my esistence as an actor. It didn’t go to my ego, it went to my heart. It elevated me and it lifted me.

“the Armorer is so good for me because she is so patient, so wise.”

Carl Weathers “I owe so much to Jon Favreau.” The Mandalorian Season 3 will be coming in the Spring of 2023, he announces. He says they they owe so much of it to the creatives behind the show. “I am lucky, really lucky, that I got a really good choice of a script and good actors and got a lot of support from Jon and Dave who know everything there is to know about Star Wars – all the legacy and lore. It’s a wonderful sandbox to play in.

Temuera Morrison makes an INCREDIBLE entrance! “Thank you for your warm support with Book of Boba. It was a wonderful experience.”

There are a lot of characters in the Star Wars universe that have Temuera’s face.

Katee Sackhoff (Bo-Katan) “My dad raised me on Science Fiction and strong women. I wanted to be Bruce Willis. To be able to play the women I have been able to play throughout my career has been such a gift. Strong women keep presenting themselves to me. These men are responsible to creating so many strong characters. The fact that they’re women? They’re just women.”

Rick Famuyiwa says the first movie he saw in theaters was Star Wars. “From the moment I saw the opening crawl and the Star Destroyer flying over the screen, my life was changed.” He will join The Mandalorian Season 3 as an Executive Producer.

Rosario Dawson was fancast as Ahsoka online. She reposted Boss Logic’s fan art of her, and Dave Filoni saw it and had the Star Wars account follow her. “As a fan it’s exciting to experience it and see this story continue.”

They introduce Natasha Liu Bordizzo who is portraying Sabine Wren in live action in the show Ahsoka.

The Mandalorian season 3 comes to Disney+ in 2023.
