Queen of Katwe hits theaters everywhere on September 23 – and I for one cannot wait to see it. I have heard that it is beautiful, touching, and a must see. I plan to go see it opening weekend. As I am sure you all know by now, I am a huge fan of Marvel Comics. Doctor Strange has always been an “ehhh” character for me. Don’t get me wrong, I love him – but he can be boring, full of himself, and he also tends to disappear during major events happening in the Marvel Universe. So when I heard he was joining the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe), I was a bit skeptical. Then when it was announced who would be playing him, Benedict Cumberbatch, I got a little bit excited. I mean, the guy is a genius. Fast forward a few months later and the official trailer is released – at this point, I am excited. And now, well, a featurette has been released, Inside the Magic, and now I am counting the days until November 4th. I mean, just check it out and then tell me that you aren’t on the edge of your seat waiting for this film.

As you all know, I was lucky enough to head to LA last April to attend the Captain America: Civil War premiere and interview some of the cast. As a giant Marvel fan, it was an amazing experience – and one that I will never forget. I remember that even though I was exhausted and had been awake for over 20 hours, I was glued to the screen. It was an incredible movie and I have been dying to see it again. I was blessed to be able to receive an advance copy of Captain America: Civil War on Blu-ray and was dying to check out the bonus features. And boy is it jam packed with some amazing features!
I remember watching Little House on the Prairie with my grandmother when I was younger. It was one of her favorites and so it became one of mine. I think part of it is because of the memories of enjoying it with her, but it is a great show as well. It is heartwarming and full of great life lessons. Little House on the Prairie: Legacy Movie Collection arrives on DVD and Digital HD September 13 from Lionsgate – and I was really excited to get an advance copy. It brought back a lot of memories and I enjoyed watching it again.
I am a huge comic book nerd – which you probably know if you come here regularly. I was really excited to get an advance copy of Batman Unlimited: Mechs vs. Mutants because I was really intrigued by the trailer. It seemed like something that my girls and I would like to watch together – and I was right! They really like super heroes (and villains) so this was right up their alley. My girls are 3 and 5 and it was not scary for them at all, so I think this movie is good for all ages. Even if you don’t have the first two (but you should pick them up) you can quickly get caught up to what is going on. We have watched it a few times already, and it is quickly becoming a favorite in our home! If you (or your kids) are DC fans, this is for you!
My girls and I love to cuddle and watch movies together. We are always looking for something that we will all enjoy because – let’s face it – not all kid movies are adult friendly. I want to be entertained while watching something with my kids. And I found that in The Swan Princess: Princess Tomorrow, Pirate Today. When this DVD first arrived, my oldest daughter was thrilled. She saw it on the table and picked it up and hugged it as tight as she could (I was almost afraid she would break it!). Of course we had to watch it immediately.
