CinemaCon 2025 showcased many films, each of which I am excited about to a varying degree – but here are my 10 most anticipated movies.
10 Most Anticipated Movies Showcased At CinemaCon 2025
This list of my most anticipated upcoming films that were showcased at CinemaCon 2025 is in no particular order. These are simply the movies that I came out of the convention most excited to see, however, there are many others that I am absolutely going to be seated for, as well.
Now You See Me 3 – Now You See Me: Now You Don’t
I love the Now You See Me films and have been eagerly awaiting the third since it was announced. I think the title, Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, is perfect. After getting a look at the movie and learning that the Four Horsemen are not exactly on the best terms, I am instantly intrigued. The new cast looks great as well.
Wicked: For good
To no one’s surprise, Wicked: For Good looks fantastic. As someone who is a bigger fan of the book than the musical, however, I am cautiously optimistic. I don’t love it when a dark ending is replaced by a happy one just to appease the masses.
The Running Man
I read The Running Man nearly 15 years ago. I then watched the 1980s movie, which I found to be a terrible adaptation. After seeing the CinemaCon footage of Edgar Wright’s version, I do not think I could be any more excited. It seems to be a lot more faithful to the book, and of course, Glen Powell and Coleman Domingo ooze charisma.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps
Anyone who knows me will not be surprised at all to learn that The Fantastic Four: First Steps is on this list. I am a massive Marvel fan. The first Marvel family deserves to finally get a good movie, and I think this could be it. Julia Garner looks amazing as Silver Surfer, and while we have not seen a lot of Galactus yet, what we have seen looks incredible.
I love the first Zootopia, so I am eagerly awaiting Zootopia 2. We did not see much, just two short clips, at CinemaCon, but that is all I needed to see. The humor hits, and Ke Huy Quan as a snake? Sign me up.
Project Hail Mary
Project Hail Mary was not on my radar at all, but after getting an extended look at CinemaCon, it has shot to the top of my most anticipated list. Ryan Gosling once again showcases what an incredible actor he is. This one is likely going to make me cry, and I am ok with that.
The Bride!
Exactly what I wanted from Joker and Harley Quinn in the Joker sequel, The Bride! looks to be made for me. It seems to be equal parts terrifying, artsy, and emotional. I cannot wait to see what is in store for me when it hits theaters.
Masters of the Universe
While we did not get much more than behind-the-scenes looks of Masters of the Universe, somehow, I came out of CinemaCon extremely excited about it. There were a lot of shots of costumes and concept art, as well as a look at the massive set. I think this is going to make fans very happy.
After The Hunt
If I am being honest, anything with Andrew Garfield in it is going to excite me. After The Hunt is sure to be a movie that keeps viewers guessing all the way through, as he plays a teacher who is accused of assaulting a teacher’s assistant. Did he or didn’t he? Only time will tell.
The Phoenician Scheme
I love anything that Wes Anderson puts out, so chances are I am going to adore The Phoenician Scheme. Just one glimpse at the trailer, and it is very clear who made this movie. The cast is stacked with his usual go-to actors, and I could not be any more thrilled.
Disney and Marvel showcase Thunderbolts*, Fantastic Four, Avatar: Fire and Ash, Zootopia 2, Elio, Freakier Friday, and more at CinemaCon 2025.

Cripps showcased The Walt Disney Studios’ record-breaking 2024 slate before kicking off the Studio’s 2025 presentation with a montage of footage from “Lilo & Stitch,” a live-action reimagining of Disney’s 2002 animated classic. The film, which is the wildly funny and touching story of a lonely Hawaiian girl and the fugitive alien who helps to mend her broken family, will open exclusively in theaters May 23.
“Lilo & Stitch” is directed by Dean Fleischer Camp, the Oscar®-nominated filmmaker behind the animated feature film “Marcel the Shell with Shoes On,” and stars Sydney Elizebeth Agudong, Billy Magnussen, Tia Carrere, Hannah Waddingham, Chris Sanders, with Courtney B. Vance, and Zach Galifianakis, and introducing Maia Kealoha. The film is produced by Jonathan Eirich, p.g.a. and Dan Lin. The studio also released a brand-new clip and poster from the film today.
Freakier Friday
Next up, Lindsay Lohan, who is the CinemaCon Vanguard Award recipient, and Jamie Lee Curtis came on stage to talk about “Freakier Friday,” the eagerly anticipated sequel to the Disney classic, which opens in theaters August 8. Curtis and Lohan spoke about the film, and together they presented an extended trailer and montage. In the film, Curtis and Lohan reprise their roles as Tess and Anna Coleman. The story picks up years after Tess (Curtis) and Anna (Lohan) endured an identity crisis.
Anna now has a daughter of her own and a soon-to-be stepdaughter. As they navigate the myriad challenges that come when two families merge, Tess and Anna discover that lightning might indeed strike twice. Kristin Burr, p.g.a., Andrew Gunn, p.g.a., and Jamie Lee Curtis produce.
Tron: Ares
With a dazzling “grid” light show, Jared Leto and Jeff Bridges walked on stage where they were introduced by Cripps. Leto and Bridges chatted about Disney’s “TRON: Ares” and showed an extended trailer. “TRON: Ares” is the highly anticipated third installment in the “TRON” franchise and follows a highly sophisticated Program, Ares, who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings.
The feature film is directed by Joachim Rønning and stars Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, with Gillian Anderson, and Jeff Bridges. Sean Bailey, Jeffrey Silver, Justin Springer, Jared Leto, Emma Ludbrook and Steven Lisberger are the producers. “TRON: Ares” opens in theaters on October 10.
Elle Fanning, the star of 20th Century Studios’ “Predator: Badlands,” joined Cripps onstage and screened a first look at the trailer for the upcoming film directed by Dan Trachtenberg (“Prey”). The newest entry in the “Predator” franchise is set in the future on a remote planet, where a young Predator, outcast from his clan, finds an unlikely ally in Thia (Fanning) and embarks on a treacherous journey in search of the ultimate adversary. “Predator: Badlands” opens exclusively in theaters November 7.

Jeremy Allen White, who plays Bruce Springsteen, and Jeremy Strong, who portrays his longtime manager, Jon Landau, in 20th Century Studios’ “Deliver Me from Nowhere,” surprised fans and gave attendees a first look at the upcoming film. Chronicling the making of Bruce Springsteen’s 1982 “Nebraska” album, which was recorded on a 4-track recorder in Springsteen’s New Jersey bedroom, “Deliver me from Nowhere” is directed by Scott Cooper from his adaptation of Warren Zanes’ book of the same name.
“Deliver Me from Nowhere” also features Paul Walter Hauser as guitar tech Mike Batlan; Odessa Young as love interest, Faye; Stephen Graham as Springsteen’s father, Doug; Gaby Hoffman as Springsteen’s mom, Adele; and David Krumholtz as Columbia executive Al Teller. The film is produced by Cooper, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Eric Robinson and Scott Stuber.
The Roses
Attendees were treated to the first trailer from Searchlight Pictures’ upcoming “The Roses,” which is directed by Jay Roach and written by Tony McNamara, starring Olivia Colman, Benedict Cumberbatch, Andy Samberg, Allison Janney, Belinda Bromilow, Sunita Mani, Ncuti Gatwa, Jamie Demetriou, Zoë Chao, and Kate McKinnon.
In “The Roses” life seems easy for picture-perfect couple Ivy (Olivia Colman) and Theo (Benedict Cumberbatch): successful careers, a loving marriage, great kids. But beneath the façade of their supposed ideal life, a storm is brewing—as Theo’s career nosedives while Ivy’s own ambitions take off, a tinderbox of fierce competition and hidden resentment ignites.
“The Roses” is a reimagining of the 1989 classic film “The War of the Roses,” based on the novel by Warren Adler. The film is produced by Jay Roach, Michelle Graham, Adam Ackland, Leah Clarke, Ed Sinclair, and Tom Carver. “The Roses” opens in theaters nationwide on August 29.
Thunderbolts*

Up next, stars Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Hannah John-Kamen and Wyatt Russell surprised attendees with footage from Marvel Studios’ “Thunderbolts*,” which opens in U.S. theaters on May 2. In “Thunderbolts*,” Marvel Studios assembles an unconventional team of antiheroes — Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, Red Guardian, Ghost, Taskmaster and John Walker.
After finding themselves ensnared in a death trap set by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, these disillusioned castoffs must embark on a dangerous mission that will force them to confront the darkest corners of their pasts. Will this dysfunctional group tear themselves apart, or find redemption and unite as something much more before it’s too late? The film also stars Sebastian Stan, Olga Kurylenko, Lewis Pullman, Geraldine Viswanathan, Chris Bauer and Wendell Edward Pierce. Jake Schreier directs “Thunderbolts*” with Kevin Feige producing.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps
Then Kevin Feige, in a taped greeting, introduced footage that transported attendees through time to the 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world of Marvel Studios’ upcoming “The Fantastic Four: First Steps.” Marvel’s First Family—Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm/Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny Storm/Human Torch (Joseph Quinn) and Ben Grimm/The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach)—face their most daunting challenge yet.
Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, they must defend Earth from a ravenous space god called Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). And if Galactus’ plan to devour the entire planet and everyone on it weren’t bad enough, it suddenly gets very personal. Directed by Matt Shakman and produced by Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios’ “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” opens in theaters July 25.
Pixar’s Elio
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – APRIL 03: Zoe Saldaña speaks onstage during Disney Studios at CinemaCon 2025 at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on April 03, 2025 in Las Vegas, Nevada. (Photo by Jesse Grant/Getty Images for Disney)
Oscar®-winner Zoe Saldaña came on stage next to talk about her role as Aunt Olga in Disney and Pixar’s “Elio.” Fans enjoyed six minutes of 3D-footage from the upcoming film, which hits theaters June 20. The cosmic misadventure introduces Elio (voiced by Yonas Kibreab), a space fanatic with an active imagination and a huge alien obsession. So, when he’s beamed up to the Communiverse, an interplanetary organization with representatives from galaxies far and wide, Elio’s all in for the epic undertaking.
Mistakenly identified as Earth’s leader, Elio must form new bonds with eccentric alien lifeforms, navigate a crisis of intergalactic proportions, and somehow discover who and where he is truly meant to be. Directed by Madeline Sharafian, Domee Shi and Adrian Molina, and produced by Mary Alice Drumm, the film also features the voices of Remy Edgerly as Glordon, Brad Garrett as Lord Grigon, Jameela Jamil as Ambassador Questa and Shirley Henderson as Ooooo.
Oscar®-winning actor Ke Huy Quan was up next and shared two clips and first-look visuals from Disney Animation’s new big-screen adventure “Zootopia 2.” Quan, who voices Gary De’Snake, a venomous-but-lovable pit viper, revealed today that Quinta Brunson is joining the voice cast as therapist Dr. Fuzzby, an adorable quokka who lends a paw to detectives Judy Hopps (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (voiced by Jason Bateman).
In the all-new story, Nick and Judy find themselves on the twisting trail of a mysterious reptile who arrives in Zootopia and turns the animal metropolis upside down. To crack the case, Judy and Nick must go undercover to unexpected new parts of town, where their growing partnership is tested like never before. From the Oscar-winning team of Disney Animation chief creative officer Jared Bush and Byron Howard (directors) and Yvett Merino (producer), “Zootopia 2” releases in theaters Nov. 26.
Avatar: Fire & Ash
Alan Bergman returned to the stage to present director James Cameron via a taped message for “Avatar: Fire and Ash,” the third film in the phenomenally successful “Avatar” franchise, opening exclusively in theaters worldwide December 19. James Cameron takes audiences back to Pandora in an immersive new adventure with Marine turned Na’vi leader Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), Na’vi warrior Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña), and the Sully family. The film also stars Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Oona Chaplin, Jack Champion, Britain Dalton, Trinity Bliss, and Bailey Bass. Cameron and Jon Landau produce.

The Running Man Details & First Look
The Running Man Director Edgar Wright is here! Says this novel was “one of his favorites” and that the real story was never told on the screen so he jumped at the chance to make this movie.
Glen Powell takes the stage and says that we are the first people to take a look at a sneak peek The Running Man “This one is the full meal. You are in for a real treat. What Edgar has cooked up is nothing short of extraordinary.”
“Edgar assembled the best of the best to bring his vision to life.” – Glen Powell
The Running Man may have just wrapped a week ago but they brought some footage that looks truly incredible. Glen Powell was absolutely the right choice for Richards – he is so fun in this! Coleman Domingo is as charasmatic as ever! This is what I wanted!
Avatar: The Last Airbender Title
We have a title: The Legend Of Aang: The Last Airbender.
Smurfs Sneak Peek
Got a look at the new Smurfs movie and it looks cure! Reminds me a little bit of trolls in that there was a big musical number. Papa Smurf’s brother, voiced by Nick Offerman was the stand out for me!
The SpongeBob Movie: Search For Squarepants
Tom Kenny is here to talk about The SpongeBob Movie: Search For Squarepants! “Biggest all new, can’t miss, biggest cinematic event.” A sea faring adventure that takes to where no sponge has ever gone before. The Flying Dutchman played by Mark Hamill! Mark Hamill “I played a charcter in the 5th season of SpongeBob and I did so good that they invited me back 18 years later.”
The SpongeBob Movie: Seach for Squarepants trailer offers what you expect from the franchise. There are quite a few “adult” jokes that had me cackling, including SpongeBob literally sh*tting a brick when he comes face to face with The Flying Dutchman.
The Naked Gun
They just showed us the first trailer for The Naked Gun and it looks hilarious and absolutely insane.. but you all aready know that because it was dropped online a while ago.. If you haven’t watched it yet, go do it now!
Roofman First Look
Channing Tatum is here to talk about Roofman. “It’s equal parts devastatingly emotional and somehow hilarious.” A true story about an unusually nice thief who robbed a bunch of McDonalds. Got a sneak peek at Roofman and it looks really good! Channing Tatum is the right choice to play a very charming criminal.
Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning
Tom Cruise is here to talk all about Mission Impossible! Tom Cuise just asked the whole theater to take a moment of silence for Val Kilmer.
Tom Cruise says that he would race gokarts against Brad Pitt while they were filming Interview With A Vampire so he is very excited to see F1 and says Brad Pitt is a great driver.
“I am here to place you in harms way for other people’s entertainment” – Christopher McQuarrie to Tom Cruise
Mission: Impossible – The FInal Reckoning takes place two months after the last one. The trailer includes clips from previous films, showcasing all of the things that Ethan Hunt has done. “Everything you are. Everything you’ve done. Has come to this.”
As a massive fan of the Devil May Cry games, I was cautiously optimistic about the Netflix anime series from the moment I heard about it. Thankfully, there was nothing to be worried about because it delivered on everything that I wanted and more.
Adapting a video game is no easy task. Players form a connection with the main character in a game very easily because they are playing as them. That alone is difficult to recreate, but especially when you know some of the people watching the series or movie will be completely new to the story.
When a portal between the demon world and the human world opens up, the government must recruit demon hunters to stop the demons that are crossing through. At the same time, the White Rabbit, the main villain of the series, is trying to make that portal big enough for all the demons to come to the human world – and Dante is a key part of his plan.
From a gaming standpoint, Dante is a lot of fun. He is a quirky, confident demon hunter who can be charming and is quite handy in a fight. He has his reasons for tracking these creatures down, but you need to watch the series or play the game to get the full scoop. What I will say is that his backstory is very much the catalist for who he has become.
Dante in the Netflix Devil May Cry series does a wonderful job of capturing my favorite things about him in the game. His mannerisms are similar, he knows when to crack a joke, and he knows how to kick some serious butt. I love watching him take on these demons just about as much as I love playing him while he does so in the games.
Anime was absolutely the correct choice for the style of animation for Devil May Cry‘s adaptation, there is no doubt about that. While certain elements remind me of Prime Video’s Invincible – the demon brothers give off Mauler Brothers vibes for sure – it also feels like something completely its own.
Season one is just eight episodes long, which fly by thanks to incredible pacing, well-timed jokes, and a whole lot of intense action. This show is not afraid to bring the blood and the gore, which is very much appreciated. It needs to go there so that viewers can feel the high stakes of what is going on.
When Dante realizes his true origins, things get very interesting and propel the story forward. In a smart move by the creators of the series, this is done very early on. Gamers will know this going in, and so will anyone who has done any bit of research on Devil May Cry, considering it is a major part of the story.
As a big fan of the games, I am here to say, do not worry about how that demon form looks because they absolutely nail it. It truly looks like it was ripped out of the games.
I often say that a show is only as good as its villain, and the White Rabbit does not disappoint. He is menacing and terrifying, and I am obsessed with his design. He is a formidable foe and I loved every time I saw him go up against Dante.
There is one episode in particular, towards the end of the season, that has very minimal dialogue. The episode itself is gorgeous, featuring different animation styles and a melody that is meant to tell an emotional story. While I cannot go into details for fear of spoilers, it is one of the most touching episodes of television I have watched so far this year.
Devil May Cry delivered everything I wanted it to do. There are Capcom Easter eggs and references (I about died when someone mentioned Racoon City), the fight sequences are incredible, and there is the perfect amount of blood and gore mixed in with a dash of humor.
The story welcomes newcomers to this world with ease but still brings enough surprises for those who have played the game. I truly cannot wait for more.
In this animated adaptation of the popular Capcom game and from the vision of Adi Shankar, sinister forces are at play to open the portal between the human and demon realms. In the middle of it all is Dante, an orphaned demon-hunter-for-hire, unaware that the fate of both worlds hangs around his neck.
Shankar said, “I’m honored that Netflix and Capcom have entrusted me to shepherd the DEVIL MAY CRY franchise. Alex Larsen and I love these characters, we are part of the fandom, and vow to surpass the exceptionally high bar we set for ourselves.”
At CinemaCon 2025, Amazon MGM highlights its upcoming theatrical slate, demonstrating its commitment to releasing more movies in theaters than ever before. They claim to have 14 titles lined up for the year 2026.
Updating live from CinemaCon 2025, here are the Amazon MGM presentation highlights.
Project Hail Mary
The Amazon MGM panel opens with an extended look at Ryan Gosling’s Project Hail Mary. This film is based on a book by the same name. The footage shows Gosling’s character, who is a teacher that believes the sun is dying, being recruited by the government to help save Earth.
He trains to be an astronaut and is sent to space, with the knowledge that this is likely a suicide mission. Along the way, he meets an alien named Rocky.
Verity
Next up for Amazon MGM is Verity. This movie is coming to theaters next year and they gave attendees a look at a teaser. Talk about a twisted, dark, and clearly crazy movie. A psychological thriller based on a book means that some people will know the story, but I didn’t know anything about it going in. After seeing this teaser, I don’t think I want to see any more. This is one of those movies that will benefit from audiences going in as blind as possible.
After The Hunt
Amazon MGM is now bringing out some of the cast of After The Hunt. Andrew Garfield says he has wanted to work with director Luca Guadagnino for years, and now the time has finally come. Watching the trailer it is clear that After The Hunt is trying to make me hate Andrew Garfield, but I could never. This is certainly one that will have audiences guessing what actually happened all the way through.
Mercy
Mercy follows Chris Pratt as he must prove his innocence in the murder of his wife by scouring the internet and cameras around the city to find proof. He is given ninety minutes to do so and I imagine it plays out in real-ish time. This one is sure to be a heart-pounding thriller.
Three Bags Full
Three Bags Full was just announced by Amazon MGM, and when they explained it is a movie about sheep solving a murder that stars Hugh Jackman, I fully thought it was a joke at first. especially because it is not animated and is a live-action movie.
They show us a clip, and it is exactly that – sheep who try to solve the murder of their shepherd who dies under strange circumstances. The cast is stacked though! Besides Hugh Jackman, there’s Bella Ramsey, Patrick Stewart and many others. I truly don’t know how to feel about it yet.
Crime 101
Crime 101 promises to capture Los Angeles on screen in a way we have never seen before. Chris Hemsworth says it will keep viewers guessing until the very end. Barry Keoghan plays a dirt bike-riding maniac in a role that was written for him.
After checking out some footage, I have to admit that this shot to the top of my most anticipated list. It loks like a lot of fun.
Is God Is
Is God Is took me by complete surprise. Based on a play, it is a modern myth about twin sisters who journey from the Dirty South to the California desert to exact righteous revenge. Starring Vivica A. Fox and Sterling K. Brown, it is clear it is going to be fantastic.
Masters of The Universe
We got a sneak peek at Masters of the Universe which is a lot of behind-the-scenes footage and a look at costumes. Fans are going to be freaking out when they see what all these characters look like. Jared Leto as Skeletor looks PERFECT.
No Bond Announcement
Everyone was hoping for an announcement as to who the next Bond is, but Amazon MGM did not give us anything. They did reveal that they are committed to Bond, and hopefully, we will get details soon. Perhaps at San Diego Comic-Con?
The Universal and Focus Features CinemaCon presentation focuses heavily on the scores of films, bringing a live orchestra to the stage, moving many to tears. The highlights of the panel include How To Train Your Dragon, Jurassic World: Rebirth, and HIM.
Updating live from CinemaCon 2025, here are the Universal and Focus Features presentation highlights.
Jurassic World: Rebirth
“Every time I heard they were making a movie, I would reach out. This time I went directly to Steven Spielberg.” says Scarlett Johansson as she jokes about finally joining the Jurassic Park family.
Jurassic World: Rebirth Director Gareth Edwards says he wants the audience to feel like they are going on a roller coaster ride, while Scarlett adds that they put the scares back in Jurassic.
Just got a new trailer for Jurassic World: Rebirth and Scarlett was not joking when she said they are putting the scares back in the franchise! I have chills! These dinosaurs are not playing around!
Gabby’s Dollhhouse: The Movie
DreamWork’s Gabby’s Dollhouse is wildly popular (my daughters LOVE her) so it makes sense that Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie is coming. Kristin Wiig is going to offer a new spin on the “crazy cat lady” as the villain who buys Gabby’s dollhouse and refuses to give it back. The studio promises it will be an interactive theatrical experience.
The Bad Guys 2
Craig Robinson & Awkwafina are here to talk The Bad Guys 2! They joke that the other three aren’t here because they just don’t care as much as them about this movie. The Bad Guys 2 is coming August 1st, 2025 and we got a look at the new trailer, which is hilarious! This is sure to be a lot of fun and cannot wait to see more of the Bad Girls!
How To Train Your Dragon 2 Live-Action Announcement
How To Train Your Dragon breaking news!! How To Train Your Dragon 2 is coming June 11, 2027!
Him Is A Full Blown Sports Horror
We just saw the Him teaser trailer, and I can promise you that you have never seen a sports movie like this. With Jordan Peele’s name attached, I should have known that it would go to places darker than I could have imagined. Dang, it looks so good!
Nobody 2
I just saw the Nobody 2 trailer and Bob Odenkirk is back to kick more butt! I love seeing him as a protective dad before figuring out that he has put the family in an unexpected situation while on vacation. If they showed this much action in the trailer… I cannot wait to see what they have in store for us in the whole movie.
The Phoenician Scheme
The Phoenician Scheme marks Focus Features’ third major collaboration with the incomparable Wes Anderson (following Asteroid City and 2012’s Moonrise Kingdom). The Phoenician Scheme tells the story of a family and a family business.
I love that as soon as a trailer starts for a Wes Anderson movie, it is so very clear that he is the director. The Phoenician Scheme looks amazing and is exactly what I wanted. Everyone you expect to be in it, is in it, of course. I truly cannot wait.
Cast: Benicio Del Toro, Mia Threapleton, Michael Cera, Riz Ahmed, Tom Hanks, Bryan Cranston, Mathieu Amalric, Richard Ayoade, Jeffrey Wright, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Rupert Friend, Hope Davis
US theatrical release May 30, 2025 (limited), June 6, 2025 (expanded).
Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale
The time has come to say goodbye to Downton Abbey. Focus Features is bringing the beloved Crawley household to theaters for the final installment of the wildly successful franchise written by creator Julian Fellowes.
Cast: Hugh Bonneville, Laura Carmichael, Jim Carter, Raquel Cassidy, Brendan Coyle, Michelle Dockery, Kevin Doyle, Michael Fox, Joanne Froggatt, Paul Giamatti, Harry Hadden-Paton, Robert James-Collier, Allen Leech, Phyllis Logan, Elizabeth McGovern, Sophie McShera, Lesley Nicol, Alessandro Nivola, Simon Russell Beale, Dominic West, Penelope Wilton, Arty Froushan, Joely Richardson, Paul Copley, Douglas Reith.
US theatrical release September 12, 2025.
Bugonia
The next film from acclaimed filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos, Bugonia stars Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons and follows two conspiracy-obsessed young men who kidnap the high-powered CEO of a major company, convinced she is an alien intent on destroying Planet Earth.
Bugonia seems to feature Jesse Plemons as you’ve never seen him before. I adore his work and while the trailer we got was very much a short teaser, I found myself fully invested and wanting more!
Cast: Emma Stone, Jesse Plemons, Aidan Delbis, Stavros Halkias and Alicia Silverstone
US theatrical release November 7, 2025.
Blumhouse Sequels: FiVe Nights At Freddy’s 2, The Black Phone 2, & M3gan 2.0
Jason Blum just came out to the Five Nights at Freddy’s theme dressed in a giant Freddy costume and I legit was terrified for a minute. Five Nights At Freddy’s 2 will release in December EXCLUSIVELY in movie theaters, unlike the first film. “Brings us back to the twisted world fans know and love from the game.”
Black Phone 2’s Madeleine McGraw is here. She says Ethan’s character died in the first film, but death isn’t always the end. Jason Blum says that he thinks it is scarier than the first one. Blumhouse brought a Black Phone 2 first look even though they are still in production and it had my heart pounding. “You of all people know that dead is just a word. Vengeance is mine.” echos over some truly chilling images.
Now it is Violet’s turn to talk about her Blumhouse movie, Megan 2.0! “This time Megan is back for more. When a new AI comes online with even worse intentions, we have to fire the OG up to defeat her.” 30 Megans are now dancing to Oops I Did It Again on stage.. and it is everything.
The Megan 2.0 trailer brings a lot of laughs but also a lot of scares. Megan gets some serious upgrades including getting taller. She goes head to head with another AI named Emilia. “She is a smoking hot warrior princess” as the trailer says.
Jason Blum is back on stage, with James Wan this time to talk about the spin off Soulm8te! The Soulm8te trailer is pretty intense and terrifying. Sure it gives Companion vibes, but it is also wildly different. Sarah, the AI made for adults, is brutal, intense, and absolutely unhinged.
Wicked: For Good Sneak Peek
Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande are here and if they sing I might die. I don’t think I can cry anymore today. “Our second movie deals with the consequences of the decisions that were made by our characters.” – Jon M. Chu
Got a first look at Wicked: For Good and it had me sobbing. This movie is going to be special. Absolutely gorgeous and highlighting the bond between Elphaba and Glinda. Got a few looks at Dorothy but no face so still no clue who is playing her.
A Minecraft Movie is very much for kids who play and love the game and who will have the time of their lives picking out Easter eggs and references.
My tween daughters have been playing Minecraft for years and were over-the-moon excited when A Minecraft Movie was announced. I knew early on that this film was not made for me, but that is okay because if my kids are happy, then I am happy.
While a few solid jokes got me laughing out loud during our screening, for the most part, a lot of what was happening flew over my head because I do not know the game well enough. That said, my girls explained every detail to me, and they were cracking up all throughout the movie, as were the other children in the screening, which proves to me that A Minecraft Movie accomplished exactly what it set out to do.
Say what you will, it is very clear that Jack Black and Jason Momoa are having the time of their lives in this movie. Momoa plays a washed-up video game champion, and Black plays Steve, a man who has wanted to mine since he was a little boy, and when he finally did, he found the Overworld, which allowed him to unleash his creativity.
When Garrett (Momoa), Henry (Sebastian Eugene Hansen), Natalie (Emma Myers) and Dawn (Danielle Brooks) find themselves stuck in the Overworld as well, adventure ensues. Steve and Garrett have a rivalry from the moment they meet, mostly because Momoa wants to be the coolest one in the room and feels threatened – something we can all relate to in one way or another.
Because of this, they are at the center of the story. But also because of this, the rest of the characters feel very underused – even Henry, who seems to be the other main character. It almost is like there was a much more detailed story at first, but because Black and Momoa were stealing the show, the studio leaned into them.
While I do not know if this is true or not, they are the ones that get the most laughs and the only ones with extensive backstories. Jennifer Coolidge’s character remains in the real world. She has a small side plot, but every time she is on screen, she is hilarious. I almost wish we had more of her, and I would absolutely watch a spin-off about her.
Something I really enjoyed about A Minecraft Movie is the look of the Overworld and The Nether. It is clear that the creatives who worked on this film are fans of Minecraft because, having watched my daughters play, everything looks like it is ripped from the game.
The blocky style is a must, and while on paper it sounds like it would look awkward, it really works. All of the animals and creatures feature the signature square heads, and yet the pandas and wolves are adorable!
A Minecraft Movie takes a lot of what kids love about the game and brings it to the screen. They address things that seem to have no rhyme or reason – like why the Villagers don’t talk and why the Iron Golems are peaceful until you threaten them or a Villager. It was these kinds of things that I found myself enjoying because as a parent watching the kids play, I wondered these exact things.
While A Minecraft Movie certainly has its faults, its target audience is going to eat it up. All of the children in my screening were having a blast, as are Black and Momoa in this movie. This movie was not made for me, and that is perfectly fine. But I can appreciate and understand that the people it was made for are going to love it.
Welcome to the world of Minecraft, where creativity doesn’t just help you craft, it’s essential to one’s survival! Four misfits–Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison (Jason Momoa), Henry (Sebastian Eugene Hansen), Natalie (Emma Myers) and Dawn (Danielle Brooks)–find themselves struggling with ordinary problems when they are suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal into the Overworld: a bizarre, cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination.
To get back home, they’ll have to master this world (and protect it from evil things like Piglins and Zombies, too) while embarking on a magical quest with an unexpected, expert crafter, Steve (Jack Black). Together, their adventure will challenge all five to be bold and to reconnect with the qualities that make each of them uniquely creative… the very skills they need to thrive back in the real world.
Warner Bros. offers a sneak peek at many upcoming films, including Final Destination: Bloodlines, Superman, The Bride, and F1.
Updating live from CinemaCon 2025, here are the Warner Bros. presentation highlights.
F1 Shares First Ten Minutes
F1 has “action, romance, and humor.” Brad Pitt drove himself at 185 miles per hour!? Crazy!! About to see the first TEN minutes of the movie!
As someone who is not into racing at all, I can confidently say that the first ten minutes of F1 have me pretty intrigued. It starts off intense! Brad Pitt is, of course, incredible. Its also pretty funny. I am looking forward to it!
Superman Sneak Peek Plus Q&A
Got a quick look at a lot of behind the scenes of Superman and goodness gracious.. I did not think I could be more excited and yet here I am.
James Gunn pushed fimmaking to its limits with Superman. He comes to the stage with the main cast. James Gunn says Superman was “a long time coming.” In 2018 he was offered the movie but did not know if he could do it. They also mentioned The Suicide Squad and he took the easier path because it is what he knew. “One day it hit me like a burst. Creating a story that is utterly human and utterly fantastic.”
Nicholas Hoult jokes “As an icon, it is nice to finally get to play one.” “You love watching us work. We love having conversations. It was amazing to be so pleasantly surprised. You love talking about it. You love people that love it too.” says David Cornswet to James Gunn
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – APRIL 01: (L-R) James Gunn, Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult and David Corenswet attend the Warner Bros. Pictures “The Big Picture” Presentation at 2025 CinemaCon at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on April 01, 2025 in Las Vegas, Nevada. (Photo by Stewart Cook/Warner Bros. via Getty Images)
James Gunn says that Rachel worked closely with the set designer to make sure that there were things that Lois would actually have. He says she took it very seriously and that it really shows up in the movie. James Gunn wants people to leave loving the people they love just a little bit more. This movie is about human connections.
The Superman footage shows that Krypto is not exactly the best boy, as he jumps all over a very beaten-up Superman before destroying the Fortress of Solitude. The rest of the sneak peek is more or less what we have seen already in the trailer.
Weapons Sneak Peek
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – APRIL 01: Zach Cregger (L) and Richard Brener attend the Warner Bros. Pictures “The Big Picture” Presentation at 2025 CinemaCon at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on April 01, 2025 in Las Vegas, Nevada. (Photo by Stewart Cook/Warner Bros. via Getty Images)
CinemaCon shows a teaser for Weapons, and I am all the way in on this film. That said, as a parent, this premise is absolutely terrifying. Kids just getting out of bed and walking into the dark night never to return? The footage is extremely creepy with lots of twists to come, it seems.
One Battle After Another Extended Look
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – APRIL 01: (L-R) Michael De Luca, Pamela Abdy, Regina Hall, Teyana Taylor and Leonardo DiCaprio attend the Warner Bros. Pictures “The Big Picture” Presentation at 2025 CinemaCon at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on April 01, 2025 in Las Vegas, Nevada. (Photo by Stewart Cook/Warner Bros. via Getty Images)
One Battle After Another‘s Regina Hall, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Teyana Taylor come to the stage to talk about the film.
“I’ve been wanting to work with Paul for over twenty years now.” – Leonard DiCaprio “It is an epic movie with such scope and scale.” Regina Hall says the process on One Battle After Another was incredibly collaborative. Her character has “so much heart.”
Teyana Taylor adds that her character is a mess, but she loves very hard and betrays very hard. She is a situationship. She is a lot. But she “reminds me of an egg. She looks hard on the outside but inside, she’s just scrambled eggs.”
The extended look showcases just how funny the film is. It picks up, seemingly, after the released trailer and continues DiCaprio’s character trying very hard to remember the rest of the secret code in order to save his daughter.
Final Destination: Bloodlines Sneak Peek
Final Destination is so back with Final Destination: Bloodlines. CinemaCon attendees were given a look at a couple of the off-the-wall deaths that showcase just how brutal this series is willing to go. While we cannot reveal too much, because they are definitely spoilers, just know that if you love this franchise, you will love this film.
The Cat In The Hat Work In Progress Trailer
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – APRIL 01: Bill Hader attends the Warner Bros. Pictures “The Big Picture” Presentation at 2025 CinemaCon at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on April 01, 2025 in Las Vegas, Nevada. (Photo by Eric Charbonneau/Warner Bros. via Getty Images)
Bill Hader is here to talk about The Cat In The Hat. “I have been chasing this role for years.” he jokes before they play a clip from SNL where he played the cat. He says that he asked his kids if he should play the cat. He claims two of the three said yes.
The Cat In The Hat looks like a lot of fun for families! The work in progress trailer they showed is hilarious!
THE BRIDE! Sneak Peek
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – APRIL 01: Maggie Gyllenhaal (L) and Jessie Buckley attend the Warner Bros. Pictures “The Big Picture” Presentation at 2025 CinemaCon at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace on April 01, 2025 in Las Vegas, Nevada. (Photo by Stewart Cook/Warner Bros. via Getty Images)
Jessie Buckley and Maggie Gyllenhaal come to the CinemaCon stage to talk about The Bride! Maggie says in the original the bride only has about three minutes on screen but she made an impact. “I think that all of us have a little aspect of monsterness in us.”
Jessie Buckley says the script for The Bride! was electric. “I always look at them as if they’re just human. I didn’t know who this woman was or could be until I found her with Maggie while we were filming.” This is the “punkest love” thats ever existed.
The Bride! footage that is revealed looks incredible. It is so twisted and insane and brutal and dark and intense, and everything that I wanted. Dare I say it… this is what I wanted to see from Joker and Harley Quinn?! I truly cannot wait.
The Lionsgate panel at CinemaCon 2025 was packed with John Wick news. It also revealed information about The Hunger Games: Sunrise On The Reaping and Now You See Me.
Here are the biggest highlights from what Lionsgate had to show off at CinemaCon 2025.
An Extended Look At Ballerina
The extended look of Ballerina showcased some truly brutal action sequences with Ana de Armas showing off what she can do.
“For Bond I only had three weeks of training, but Ballerina was on a whole different level. What I had done in other action films helped me to get through this one but this was by far the most physical thing I have done. Months of training and four or five hours a day with 87 North and then jump in a car to go to a shooting range. Ballet is one of the hardest disciplines. It is so beautiful but they are going through so much pain but keep pushing through.” – Ana de Armas
“Tone is a big thing for me. One of the best things you can get from an action sequence is somebody saying Holy shit, I did not expect that.” – Director Len Wiseman
The Long Walk Looks Terrifying
From the highly anticipated adaptation of master storyteller Stephen King’s first-written novel, and Francis Lawrence, the visionary director of The Hunger Games franchise films (Catching Fire, Mockingjay –Pts. 1 & 2, and The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes), comes THE LONG WALK, an intense, chilling, and emotional thriller that challenges audiences to confront a haunting question: how far could you go?
David Johnsson says he walked ten to fifteen miles a day while filming while Mark Hamill says if you can’t be the hero, there is nothing better than the villain.
The Hunger Games: Sunrise On The Reaping
The Hunger Games: Sunrise On The Reaping is deep in the casting process and will begin filming this summer. The animated title sequence was also revealed.
Lots Of John Wick News
Lionsgate will expand the John Wick universe into a new dimension with an animated action film featuring the renowned assassin. The announcement was made today from the CinemaCon stage by Adam Fogelson, chair, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group. It is expected that Keanu Reeves will return to voice his signature character in the animated film.
The animated feature will be produced by the John Wick producing team of Thunder Road’s Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee, 87Eleven Entertainment’s Chad Stahelski, and Keanu Reeves. 87Eleven Entertainment’s Alex Young and Jason Spitz will executive produce.
The film will be directed by Shannon Tindle, an animation veteran who most recently co-wrote and directed the Annie-nominated Netflix film Ultraman: Rising. Tindle also created the double Oscar® nominee Kubo and the Two Strings and served as executive producer/showrunner on the Emmy-winning series “Lost Ollie.” The film will be written by Vanessa Taylor, writer and co-executive producer of “Game of Thrones,” writer of Divergent, and an Oscar® nominee for her work with Guillermo del Toro on the Best Picture winner The Shape of Water.
The animated film will go back in time to tell the story of John Wick before the first film, as he completes the Impossible Task—the killing of all of his rivals in one night—in order to free himself from his obligation to the High Table and earn the right to be with the love of his life, Helen.
Like the live-action feature films, the animated movie will deliver the highly stylized and defined action that John Wick fans expect and will be aimed at more mature audiences.
Fogelson said, “In both animation and the world of John Wick, the possibilities are endless. And there is no John Wick story fans are clamoring for more than the Impossible Task. Shannon’s take on that story is an incredible one, and we are beyond excited to see what John Wick can do in animation.”
Stahelski added, “I’ve always been fascinated with anime. It has always been a huge influence on me, especially with the John Wick series. To have the opportunity to develop a John Wick anime seems to be the perfect progression for the John Wick world. I feel John Wick is the perfect property for this medium—anime holds the potential to expand our world, our characters, and our action in ways unimaginable before.”
Iwanyk and Lee said, “Shannon has a breathtaking vision for a film we’ve all long wanted to make. Alongside Vanessa’s story, we’re hugely excited to bring it to audiences.”
Now You See Me: Now You Don’t + Now You See Me 4
After directing the highly anticipated Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, in theaters November 14, 2025, Ruben Fleischer has entered a deal with Lionsgate to develop and direct a fourth installment of the action-heist franchise. The announcement was made from the CinemaCon stage by Adam Fogelson, chair, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group.
The Now You See Me franchise has taken in $687 million worldwide. The first two films starred Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher, Dave Franco, and Morgan Freeman, among others, with Justice Smith, Dominic Sessa, and Ariana Greenblatt joining as a new generation of illusionists and Rosamund Pike also starring in the franchise’s third installment, Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, which has completed principal photography and will be released theatrically on November 14, 2025.
Bobby Cohen, who originally developed and has produced all the films in the series, will return to produce the new installment alongside Alex Kurtzman of Secret Hideout. Meredith Wieck will oversee the project for Lionsgate.
Fogelson said, “Ruben has delivered all of the twists and turns and sleight-of-hand that audiences expect from this franchise while upping the stakes and scale in every way. We can’t wait for audiences to discover what he’s done with the third film and thrilled he’ll be making even more magic with us.”
Fleischer added, “Directing Now You See Me: Now You Don’t was as much fun as making any movie in my career. It combines two of my favorite things—heist movies and magic—and working with this incredible cast was truly magical. Of course I want to keep it going.”
