The red carpet world premiere for Captain America: Civil War was earlier this week. I got to walk the carpet as a surprise ending to my #CaptainAmericaEvent press trip and it was amazing. I knew right away that it would soon become a FanGirl Friday feature. As a gigantic Marvel fan, walking this carpet was a dream come true (the whole trip was really). As I sat on my plane just hours after being there with company like Chris Evans, Robert Downy Jr, and Don Cheadle, it all felt surreal. Almost like it had not even happened. Marvel goes all out for a red carpet guys, and this one was no different. It was split right down the middle with Team Captain America and Team Iron Man. I loved how it was set up. There were so many people – and all of the celebrities were taking time to sign autographs for fans that had been waiting all day. As I look through my photos, I still cannot believe that I was there!

Synopsis
Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” finds Steve Rogers leading the newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps—one led by Steve Rogers and his desire for the Avengers to remain free to defend humanity without government interference, and the other following Tony Stark’s surprising decision to support government oversight and accountability.

Get ready to pick a side and join the nonstop action playing out on two fronts when Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War” opens in U.S. theaters on May 6, 2016.

Disney’s Live Action The Jungle Book In Theaters Now

When I was a young girl, I watched Disney’s animated The Jungle Book over and over – I have seen it at least 50 times in my life. It was one of my favorites growing up and it is amazing to have been able to share that love with my young daughters. So naturally, when I found out that Disney was creating a live-action version of The Jungle Book, I was thrilled. Then as they started announcing the names in the cast (Bill Murray, Scarlett Johansson, Lupita Nyong’o, Sir Ben Kingsley, etc…) I just knew it was going to be incredible. When I attended the D23 Expo last summer, I was able to see some sneak peek footage and that put the nail in the coffin for me. I knew I had to see it as soon as it came out in theaters (April 15, 2016).

As most of you know, I was invited to the #CaptainAmericaEvent where I got to experience so many amazing things – one of which, was a bonus screening of The Jungle Book in 3D. With a director like Jon Favreau, you cannot go wrong. He is an incredibly talented man. I knew going in to it that this film was mostly CGI, but I must say, I was quite impressed watching it. All of the animals were so well done that I really could not tell and even forgot as the story progressed. Not to mention it was shot in LA, you would never know, it is like it was actually shot in a jungle!

This movie brings a whole new light to the story of The Jungle Book. It is not an exact remake of the animated version by any means – and honestly, I am hoping for a sequel! It is intentionally darker, but it isn’t “too” dark, in my opinion. King Louie is more power hungry and greedy than he is funny and Kaa is downright creepy (but in a good way). It is action packed, thrilling, and will have your heart pumping the entire time – you may even shed some tears. Everyone is perfectly cast – Bill Murray as Baloo will have you laughing,  Lupita Nyong’o as Raksha will tug at your heart strings, and Scarlett Johannsson as Kaa will make you nervous and on edge. Then we get to newcomer Neel Seethi, the boy who plays Mowgli, and he is beyond words. That young boy had to film nearly the entire movie by himself since he is mainly featured with CGI animals. That must have been difficult for him, but he masters it. He truly embodies Mowgli and I think he is going places – keep an eye on him!

Overall, The Jungle Book is a MUST SEE this weekend – and if you can see it in 3D, do it. I felt like I was in the jungle for the entire (nearly) 2 hours. I have had a lot of people ask if it could be scary for little children. There were plenty of young kids in the theater when I saw it and they might have jumped here and there (I did too!), but they were fine (and loved the movie!). As a mother, I have no problem taking my children and have actually planned a mommy/daughter date for myself and my 4 (almost 5) year old today. I cannot wait to take her. I am hoping she will love it just as much as the animated version, if not more. She has been begging me to take her to see it since the first time she saw the trailer. Take your family too, you will not be disappointed!

About The Jungle Book
Directed by Jon Favreau (“Iron Man”), based on Rudyard Kipling’s timeless stories and inspired by Disney’s classic animated film, “The Jungle Book” is an all-new live-action epic adventure about Mowgli (newcomer Neel Sethi), a man-cub who’s been raised by a family of wolves. Since I am a huge fan of Star Wars, I am super excited that there are a lot of new Star Wars movies in the works. I have been thrilled about Rogue One since I heard it was happening, and now there is a teaser trailer and WOW! I cannot wait for this movie. It is going to be a great addition to the Star wars franchise! And I only have to wait less than a year – it comes out this December!

The brand new teaser trailer for ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY debuted on Good Morning America recently and is amazing! Lucasfilm’s ROGUE ONE, which takes place before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope, tells the story of unlikely heroes who have united to steal plans to the dreaded Death Star.

The cast includes Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed, and Forest Whitaker. ROGUE ONE is directed by Gareth Edwards, produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Allison Shearmur, and Simon Emanuel, executive produced by John Knoll and Jason McGatlin, and co-produced by John Swartz and Kiri Hart.

As most of you know, Star Wars: The Force Awakens came out this week. My husband and I are huge Star Wars fans and we saw the movie in theaters. It was so good! Star Wars: Force for Change Charitable Campaign

Star Wars: Force for Change will match up to $1,000,000 in donations made by fans to four charities between April 5th and May 4th.

Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy and Star Wars veteran Mark Hamill announced a new campaign sponsored by CrowdRise in support of Star Wars: Force for Change, an initiative that inspires people to make a positive impact on the world. Starting April 5th, Star Wars: Force for Change will match the donations of Star Wars fans to four select charities up to $1,000,000! To date, Star Wars: Force for Change has raised over $10,000,000 with the help of the amazing Star Wars community. This month-long campaign will lead up to “Star Wars Day” on May the 4th. The four select charities include the U.S. Fund for UNICEF in support of UNICEF Kid Power, American Red Cross, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, and Make-A-Wish®.

“Star Wars fans are some of the most generous, thoughtful, and sympathetic people I have ever met,” says Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy. “I am so proud of the charitable work they have done over the years and hope this month-long donation-matching campaign will go some way to express our sincere thanks for their tireless efforts.”

Over the course of the four-week period, which culminates at 11:59pm (PST) on May 4th, fans will be able to donate through CrowdRise.com/ForceForChange to these four charities and have their donations matched dollar for dollar up to $1,000,000. During the first week, the first 20 fans to raise or donate at least $500 will win a Blu-ray of The Force Awakens signed by the cast[i], with more incentives to come. All participants who enter will also have a chance to win an all-expense paid trip to Ireland, including Skellig Michael along the Wild Atlantic Way, the location of the dramatic final scene from The Force Awakens[ii].
