Kevin Feige Loves How Bold & Different Marvel’s WandaVision Is

Kevin Feige discusses WandaVision as the start of Phase 4 — and how much he loves how bold and different it is.

WandaVision was not the original start of Phase 4 of the MCU, but thanks to the unexpected, it had to be. Originally Falcon and the Winter Soldier was to be the kickoff, with WandaVision following close behind it. Instead these had to be flip flopped.

During the WandaVision press junket Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios, confirmed that this switch does not effect Phase 4, saying how the unexpected has never been an issue for them.

“The unexcepted has often served the Marvel Universe well. I love how bold and how different it is.” – Kevin Feige

He is certainly right in saying that WandaVision is different and bold. I personally cannot wait to share my full review, and for the world to see it. Having something like this as the kickoff for Phase 4 may not have always been the plan, but as I say, trust in Feige, he knows what he is doing. If it was going to cause a problem, we wouldn’t be getting any Marvel this month, and WandaVision would have taken its place after Falcon and the Winter Soldier as intended, just a bit later down the line.

When asked to talk about WandaVision, and what it says to fans, he had a great answer — per usual.

“I hope WandaVision says get ready for the new and the different. I hope all of our movies have said that one after another over the years. Disney+ has allowed us to expand creatively what we do.” – Kevin Feige

He also added in that this series is not a direct satire on sitcoms. He explains that there is a comfort factor there. Sitcoms hold a special place in a lot of hearts, and they love these things as well. They are pulling for inspiration, and these episodes are not meant to poke fun at the decade’s sitcoms, but instead to embrace them.
