This past weekend at MegaCon Orlando in a panel hosted by Coy Jandreau, Charlie Cox (Daredevil) and Vincent D’Onofrio (Kingpin) were asked how their return to their respective characters felt in Spiderman: No Way Home for Charlie and Hawkeye for Vincent.

Charlie’s answer solidified a fan theory that Spiderman: No Way Home was in fact filmed with the consideration of how the fans would react to the character(s) returning.

“I was really nervous. I remember being really nervous for that one little scene. I remember the way they shot the scene. Whoever is speaking, I think Jon Favreau, says something and then it’s my line, but they wanted me to put the cane down and wait for the camera to come around before I said my line and I said to the director  ‘that’s weird why are you doing that? It feels like I should just speak’ and he goes, ‘No people are gonna be very excited’ and I was like ‘Are they?’”

Charlie Cox’s doubt’s aside – the room erupted with applause and everyone sharing their love for the return of Matt Murdock to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Vincent’s answer to the same question was much more laid back as he always seemed to believe that both Charlie and himself would return to their respective roles eventually.

“I just thought it was silly for the British guy to think that it was over. The old show, it was good. We knocked it out of the park.” He went on to compliment all of the crew and other cast members, eventually stating that, “I’ve been in this business for too long to think Marvel would let that go.”

So it seems like Vincent D’Onofrio was always optimistic in his eventual return as Fisk but Charlie Cox, though eager to jump back in the suit, was a bit more hesitant on the odds of coming back.

This interview took place during MegaCon Orlando 2023.
