How Jamie Clayton Made Pinhead Her Own

Jamie Clayton is taking over the iconic role of Pinhead in the newest Hellraiser film, which hits Hulu on October 7th. This film is not necessarily a reboot, although it does feature a female version of Pinhead. In the novella, The Hellbound Heart by Clive Baker, Pinhead is described as an androgynous being with a feminine voice.

“David and I had so many Zooms and discussions about how the body would look and how the head would be. And the stillness that was incorporated. It was all of those conversations with David about his idea of what it would be when he took on this project, and then me bringing my bits and bobs to it and the meshing of those things.”

This allowed Jamie to bring something uniquely her own to the character, which she was thrilled to do. She still praises the work of Doug Bradley, whom she was thankful to not have to be compared to.

“I’m hoping that it’s something really unique. I mean, Doug is incredible. But I didn’t want to be compared or have people be like, oh she nicked that from him, she’s doing that thing that he did. Which is another reason why I think they wanted a woman to play the role because it takes the burden off the audience of that comparison. So it’s a whole new thing. Doug is amazing. No one could ever, ever, ever, ever do what he did. Love you, Doug.”
