During the press day for Paramount+’s new family friendly superhero action movie, Secret Headquarters, actors Momona Tamada (who plays Maya) and Keith L. Williams (who plays Berger) revealed a shocking connection between their film and hit series Stranger Things.

Secret Headquarters is about a boy (Walker Scobell) who feels neglected by his father (Owen Wilson). When he and his friend’s discover a secret lair underneath his house they realize he just might be the world’s greatest superhero — The Guard. When villains attack they must use what they can find to defend the headquarters.

So what exactly is the connection between Secret Headquarters and Stranger Things?

When asked about the set of the secret underground lair of The Guard and what it was like to film there, Momona Tamada explains that the set was actually built over the set of the Stranger Things mall, which is a big part of season 3.

“The funny thing is, under all of the walls and stuff, the signs and everything are all still there. Which is awesome!” – Momona Tamada

We can only imagine how cool it would be to actually work on such an iconic set, even if it does look a little different. It isn’t all changed, however, as Tamada explains that the signs are still there, behind the lair walls.

Of course, Keith L. Williams just had to twist the knife a little, adding that the lair was built over the food court where Billy was killed (Rest In Peace). It will certainly be hard not to picture where Robin and Steve worked when watching Secret Headquarters now.

When you check out Secret Headquarters on Paramount+ when it drops August 12th, be on the look out for any signs of Stranger Things. You might not see them, but now you know they are there.
