The Disney Wish is the newest DCL — so how is the Disney Wish different from other Disney Cruise Line ships?
10 Ways The Disney Wish Is Different From Other Disney Cruise Line Ships
How is the Disney Wish different from other Disney Cruise Line ships? Besides being a little bit bigger, the ship has a whole lot to offer that other DCL ships don’t. The layout is quite different, and the Imagineers really took advantage of the space that they have to give guests something like never before.
There are many ways the Disney Wish is different from other Disney Cruise Line ships, here are the top 10.
Palo Steakhouse
The other Disney Cruise Line ships offer a fine dining experience at Palo. However, on the Disney Wish, Palo has been transformed in to the Palo Steakhouse. It is similar in terms of cost and upscale decor and view, however it provides a wide selection of steaks. The signature soufflé is still a great dessert choice!
All Rotational Restaurants In The Aft
Where the rotational restaurants have been spread out on the DCL ships of the past, the Disney Wish features them stacked on top of one another on decks 3, 4, and 5. This makes it easy to remember which way to head when you come up on your dining time of either 5:45pm or 8:30pm.
First Time Adult Salons Are Offered
The Disney Wish is the first time that adults have their own salons offered to them. The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is still onboard the ship, but now adults have the option to pamper themselves as well. Hook’s Barbery is a barbershop where men can get a shave and a haircut — and a pedicure! There is even a bourbon bar they can partake in as they wait.
For the women, the Untangled Salon offers hair cut and style, as well as manicures and pedicures. All themed to Rapunzel, of course.
Marvel, Star Wars, and Disney Combined
One of the biggest Disney Wish differences from the other Disney Cruise Line ships is the fact that Marvel, Star Wars, and Disney all come together on this ship. The wide range of characters, experiences, and shows ensures that there truly is something for everyone onboard.
The New Hero Zone
There is nothing more frustrating than a windy basketball court on the top deck of a ship, so the Disney Wish has solved this problem. The Hero Zone is located inside the ship, and not only has a massive basketball court to play on, but a second floor observation deck.
There are also other games here such as shuffleboard, foosball, and air hockey. Sports fans, rejoice. One day per voyage, there is an inflatable obstacle course that gets set up as well, themed to the Incredibles and is called the Incredi-Course / Incredi-Games.
Festival of Foods
Deck 11 dining options have had a glow up on the Disney Wish! This ship has added a taco bar and a barbecue to the already delicious line up that includes burgers, chicken tenders, and more. All themed like the Mickey Mouse Cartoons, this dining option is a lot of fun!
Slide Into Oceaneer Club & Lab
Kids (and adults during the open house) can slide from the Grand Hall on the Disney Wish into the Oceaneer Club & Lab. Children can check in at the booth by the top of the slide with their magic bands, so that when they slide into the club they just have to wash their hands and start playing!
Remember, kids that are 8 and up can have the ability to check themselves in and out on their own, if parents allow. Which means they will likely be running up the stairs, and sliding down into the club, over and over!
As for the Club & Lab themselves, they have new rooms and activities such as the Marvel Academy where they can design their own supersuits, and the Star Wars Cargo Bay where they can take care of creatures!
No Mid Ship Elevators
The Disney Wish features no mid ship elevators, which Disney cruisers will be used to. The atrium has been replaced by the Grand Hall, complete with a stage where the elevators used to be. This allows for a whole lot of shows and entertainment.
Above the stage is a balcony where many fan favorite characters can be found waving to guests throughout the day — so always look up!
Senses Spa Goes Outside
The Senses Spa has always been one of the most relaxing places on board the Disney Cruise Line ships. What makes the Disney Wish different from the other DCL ships is the fact that it now goes outside. This creates an even more relaxing experience, as guests can relax in the sun.
Two Cinemas Onboard
There has always been a cinema on the Disney Cruise Line ships, but the Disney Wish has two. The Wonderland theater, which is themed to Alice in Wonderland, plays the newest Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars releases.
The Neverland Theater, which is themed to Peter Pan, plays the classic Disney films. In between the two is a popcorn, drink, and candy stand.
These are the top 10 ways the Disney Wish is different from other Disney Cruise Line ships.
