    Behind Her Eyes ending explained

Behind Her Eyes Series Ending Explained

The first four episodes of this series tell the story of a woman named Louise who is having an affair with her boss David, and unexpectedly befriends his wife, Adele. The wife knows things she shouldn’t know and I spent the better part of these episodes trying to figure out how. We learn a lot about her, and eventually it is discovered she has been dabbling in astral projection for years.

She met a man named Rob while in a psychiatric hospital and they became best friends. Eventually she taught him how to project himself, and they would do it together. Rob was also a heroine addict and died from an overdose.  Adele also teaches Louise how to project herself.

It turns out that David and Adele moved to this new town because David had an affair with someone and Adele threatened her. She didn’t press charges, but this forced them to move.  When Louise learns the truth.

Adel and Louise end up switching bodies and Adele shoots up her body to overdoes, so that she dies and the house . It is then revealed that Rob took over Adele’s body years ago. Eagle eyed viewers will realize this when “Adele’s” projection is seen it is blue, and when hers from when she is with Rob is seen, is pink.

Rob has been in love with David from the moment he met him, and he didn’t want to lose the life that he stole. Louise’s son Adam immediately realizes that something is up with her. The series ends with David and Louise (but really Rob) getting married. All I could think is poor David is still trapped in a marriage with this crazy person.

Behind Her Eyes Book Ending Explained

The Behind Her Eyes book ends in almost the exact same way, however, they take it a step further. It is still revealed that Rob switched bodies with Adele all those years ago, and switches again, this time with Louise. In the book, Rob, living in Louise’s body, plots to kill his predecessor’s young son, Adam, in order to maintain his ruse, thinking “children have accidents all the time”.

While this isn’t exactly the case in the Netflix series, it is hinted at by the way Louise looks at Adam when he points out that she doesn’t like boats, at the very end of the film.

    About Behind Her Eyes

Simona Brown plays Louise, a single mother who has an affair with her psychiatrist boss David (Tom Bateman). Her life takes a strange turn when she later befriends his wife Adele (Eve Hewson), and she finds herself caught in a web of secrets and lies where nothing is what it seems.

Also starring Robert Aramayo, Behind Her Eyes is produced by Left Bank Pictures (The Crown) and written by Steve Lightfoot and Angela LaManna, based on the best-selling novel by Sarah Pinborough.
